The plot revolves around the arrival of strange humanoid robots from outer space, called the Stardroids.Megaman attempts to take them down, but finds his weapons to be useless against their armor.Fortunately, Dr. Light creates a Mega Arm adaptor for Megaman that can penetrate the Stardroid armor.Megaman then goes off to defeat the eight Stardroids and their leader, Terra. Part of what makes this game so fun is how it deviates from the original NES titles. They came up with eight entirely new bosses and levels for this one. Each Stardroid is named after a planet and is equipped with a weapon that Megaman receives after defeating them. The graphics in this title are amazing for the Game Boy, their sharpness rivaling the best NES games. There is some slowdown when there are a lot of sprites at once, however. The music is good and all of the tunes are new.The sound effects are the same as in previous Megaman Game Boy titles. Gameplay is in the same side-scrolling action that's in the majority of Megaman games. You must guide Megaman through eight Stardroid levels that stretch in all directions and are loaded with robotic perils before going after their leader in a series of additional levels. The main difference between Megaman V and previous Game Boy Megaman titles is the fact that Megaman shoots his fist off at enemies (the Mega Arm). This is unlike the Mega Buster in the earlier games, which basically just produced a really large projectile.Although the fist automatically returns back, it makes for a brief delay wherein you cannot fire. You get used to it easily, though. Overall, this game is worth finding for serious Megaman game collectors.Fans of side-scroller games will love it.And if you're expecting Dr. Wily to be the final boss, you might be surprised... ... Amazon.com Review Tricky removes two characters from the previous game and adds five newones. It adds two new race locations to the already beefed-up World Circuit(Garibaldi and Alaska). The developers also added features to the older tracks, effectively making them new again. Tricky improves the graphics a bit andrefines the controls. The game even tweaks the basic gameplay by letting youupgrade your boarder's stats in races, but also forcing you to attempt andmaster the showoff mode. And EA improved the challenge by evening out thelearning curve. SSX tended to be a cakewalk until the later races in eachset, but this time your rivals get more intense and aggressive depending uponthe lap you're taking. As in the first game, personality is everything. This is true not only in termsof voice acting, but also in how you treat opponents. The game has a few basicattitudes. If you block and attack characters too much, they'll remember andactively seek you out. If you help one or two of them, they'll become yourallies, warning you of danger or fending off attackers. In many ways, SSX Tricky is only an upgrade of the previous game.Admittedly, the additions don't look like enough to justify buying the game allover again. But the changes are deep enough to change quite a bit, and they'lldelight even fans who are tired of, or who mastered, the first game. Maybethat's the most impressive über-trick of them all. --Bob Andrews Pros: Reviews (145)
Although easy to learn, it is tough to master and incredibly addictive. The advanced courses are very challenging, and no matter how good you get, you always want to take 'just one more run' to pull off better tricks or beat your best race time. The game world is very realistic. You can ski off the course in search of a shortcut to the bottom, jump off cliffs looking for big air, grind on any surface (rails, fences, billboards...) and elbow your opponents in a race. There are traditional courses that look like a ski resort, but also courses through city streets (jump too high and you might hit a traffic light!), through untracked powder in Alaska, and an enormous terrain park. There are multiple characters to choose from (male and female), each with a different personality. My daughter actually enjoys spending time putting different outfits on her favorite characters before each race. I have also played SSX3, and there have been several reviews comparing the two. Here is my take: 1) Tricky is mode based- you navigate menus to select a course, choose racing or tricks, etc. SSX3 feels more like a day at the mountain, where you free ski over to a race, then to a halfpipe and so on. Which is better? It's really a matter of taste. 2) Tricky tries to build up rivalries between the characters. If you knock over an opponent, they develop animosity and gun for you in future races. Also, there is PG rated trash talk at the end of each race. I think the trash talking gets old (and repetitive) pretty quickly, but I enjoy the elbowing during the race, especially in two player mode :) 3) The music in SSX3 is more diverse, and you can customize your music as if you were carrying an MP3 player. As others have noted, SSX3 even seems to adjust the music to match your riding, with big crescendos when you land a jump. 4) I like the commentator in Tricky- he pumps things up. The commentator in SSX3 seems dull in comparison. 5) Tricky seems easier, especially for the novice. The first few courses are confidence builders, which is good for younger kids and adults who are only casual gamers, like myself. Also, tricky has a practice area where you can interactivley learn new tricks. 6) Tricky is about half the price You can't go wrong with either version. However, I'd say Tricky is better for the budget minded, younger kids or casual gamers, while SSX3 is probably better for teens, serious gamers or hardcore snowboarders.

Amazon.com Review In Street Fighter EX3, players will be able to take advantage of a newsystem that allows character switching at any time throughout the battle. Notonly will you be able to swap at will, but your dynamic duo also will havedouble-teaming tag combos to enhance an opponent's agony. This means that gamerswill face three other opponents, and have four incredibly detailed fightersbattling it out on screen at any one time in the ultimate handicap match. Takethem out, and one might ask to join as your sidekick. Form a stable of four, andall of you can take your turn kicking Bison's tail, as well as that of any ofthe other famous Street Fighter characters in the game. The control is predictable, but that's what fans want... nay, crave. Supercombos, dizzies, and a number of other staple Street Fighter combos arehere and look incredible. Lighting effects are much more mature: the animatedsparks fly, and the pyrotechnics flame up all over the place. Character modelshave come a long way since the days of the first blocky Street Fighter EXgame. Although they still lack necks, these brawlers are seamless and welldefined. Their victorious poses rival any graphics that previously have beenseen on a console. Not everything is peaches 'n' cream with EX3, however. The endings of theEX series always have been a bit lacking: all you get in EX3 is afrozen frame with text; then, while the credits roll, a little consolationprize: over 10 enemies onscreen at once, all wanting to put the boots to you. This isn't the "true" ending we'd hoped for, but it's a nice gesture (and itshows off the system's power). Capcom is doing everything it can to make Street Fighter EX3 the fightinggame of choice for the PlayStation2; but, with Namco's Tekken TagTournament set to hit the market at the same time, it'll be a tough sell.Still, this is a Street Fighter game, and that alone justifies at least aplay. --Todd Mowatt Pros: Reviews (50)

Editorial Review This time around, Dan's been yanked from his eternal slumber onceagain, only to find himself inside a museum in Victorian England, wherean occultist named Palethorn has wakened the dead. Dan must defeatthese walking fossils, using his sword and other weapons, while alsosolving an array of puzzles. Dan's got some new moves to help him alongthe way, including the ability to stick his skull onto a walking handso that he can search inside small cracks. Compared to the series debut, MediEvil II offers bettergraphics, but isn't quite as funny. The original's 3-D camera problemshaven't been fixed and in some cases are worse than before, but overallMediEvil II makes for a worthy follow-up. --Robb Guido Pros: Reviews (27)

Editorial Review All of the racing characters possess special powers and unique tracks designed around their personas. ChocoboRacing contains five challenging racing modes, including grand prix (four-track tournament), time attack, versus(two-player racing), relay race, and story mode. We were particularly intrigued by the story mode, which placesChocobo in an old-fashioned pop-up storybook as he aims to collect several scattered blue crystals. We also liked the high replay value of this game. For example, a racing victory may reward players with the ability tocustomize a character. Chocobo Racing is far from a sophisticated racer--and, in fact, that is part of the appeal. This is an easy game to learn, so younger players can pick up a controller and play with little trouble. Still, plenty ofchallenges hide in the detailed tracks, which are filled with time-zapping traps and treacherous curves. --CarrieBell Pros: Reviews (17)
- The graphics are about average in the racing, to above average in the movies.

Graphics-4/5, almost like black-and-white super mario world. Play Control-5/5, Extremely Tight, and not too complex. Game Design-4/5, It would be perfect, but it lacks an ice zone or a desert zone. It's a bit short compared to, oh say, Super Mario World, but it has high replay value.Hidden Levels too! Satisfaction-6/5 Expert players may beat it in a week or two, but you want to play this forever!!!!!!!!!! Sound-4/5- The Sound is almost as good as SMB3's, but the music isn't perfect, but for a game boy game, it's fairly solid. the good- cool enemies, powers, levels. great replay value. the bad- it's a tad short. the ugly- The Three Little Pigs and Wario.
The graphics were a major step above the first one and were actually stunning visuals for the GB. They look ALMOST like a snazzy early SNES game. Gameplay actually very closely resembles Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World. You've got your power ups that unlike the first Super Mario Land can actually TELL you grabbed them. The Flower Power up and the Bunny Ears (only seen in this one) are nice. The Bunny Ears is like the leaf in SMB3. Except that Mario can't fly but they allow him to glide down to safety. The music is great for its time and even now it isn't bad. It's been about 11 years since its release and the tunes still play out in my head at times. The Map is used in this one as well.Except you can't go and challenge old bosses which kind of stinks. The story follows that Mario has lost his castle to Wario (no saving Princess Daisy in this one) and he can only get back into his castel using the six golden coins so he must set out to find them in one of the six different "Zones."What's nice about this is that you aren't forced to take the zones in any specific order at all! What's not to like about that. However, if you get a game over you have to find all six coins again. For those whinning about no saving on Super Mario Land you can finally stop your bitchin' because this game incorporates an auto-save feature. It works well but there are moments where the game will erase the data on its own. Overall this is still a worthwhile game even so many years later.Grab this game if you can and see what happens!

Editorial Review The animation and humor are reminiscent of Tim Burton'sThe Nightmare Before Christmas. If this alone isn't enough to thrill you, the difficulty level will. This is one of the few games that seems to keep itself near the perfect level--difficult enough to keep you interested, easy enough to keep you from getting frustrated. The perspective perfectly complements the gameplay and animation style: the 3-D follow-cam allows you, in most places, to look around with ease. And you'll want to take time to see the sights, since the game looks as good as it plays. This game isn't just for the hard-core gamer. It's for everyone. --John Cocking Pros: Features Reviews (45)

Editorial Review Pretty pictures aside, the battle system in SaGa Frontier 2 isoutstanding, allowing for combat to be as micromanaged or as mindless as playerssee fit. In addition to assigning in-battle character roles (such as support, intimidation, and so on), players can choose between multiple battle modes andexecute elaborate attack combos (similar to that of fighting games). Like its predecessor, SaGa Frontier 2 puts a spin on the genre byfeaturing multiple storylines that converge at various points in the game.Events in the game are encapsulated into (mostly) playable scenarios, with newplayable scenarios opening up as the existing ones are completed. While thisfeature enables gamers to experience nonlinear gameplay from differentperspectives, it ultimately muddles rather than enhances the game's overallnarrative. --Joe Hon Pros: Cons: Features Reviews (33)

The Story here is that Samus Arron has defeated Mother Brain and her space pirates on Planet Zebes, her next assignment is the exterminate the Metroids. So it is from here that the game begins. You must eliminate 37 or so Metroids scattered throughout the caverns of the Planet, but the metroids are not like the ones from before, as these particular breed have mutated to a more evolved state. This game is interesting in that it is still classic Metroid fun, but with a few complaints. The First one is that the game is real short. The nesxt is when it comes to gathering powerups those too happen fast.Within a fifteen minute time span (all in one to two areas) I went from the Ice Beam to the Wave to Spazer to Plasma beam. That was in a fifteen minute slot. The final is that outside of the Final Boss, there are no other major bosses.Unlike the first in which you had to Face Ridley and Kraid first in order to proceed, this one just throws at you one of the four evolved forms of the metroids to deal with. I am not saying that this is a bad game but if you have become hooked to say Fusion or Zero than this game is a step down for you (and if you only played Prime well avoid all together). However if you are a die hard collector or are interested in the full story than this game is a must have in the legacy.Just be warned it's short and sweet but with a hard edge (difficulty).
PROS: -The play control is very nice. It's easy to learn, and you'll ultimately grow to love the scheme. It's WAY BETTER than the old NES game. CONS: -Obviously, there's not as much room to manuver on the screen as in later Metroid adventures. OVERALL:

Amazon.com Review Parents--and anyone else interested in a game that's a little more sociallyredeeming than some of the current fare--take note: Dynasty Warriors 3 isloosely based on remarkable Chinese legends. The violence is well-done andsubtle, and playing this game could actually cause your kid to pick up a book(something other than a strategy guide). Here's what's different: Here's what stayed the same (some of which probably should have changed): Reviews (111)
Again, you choose a legendary warrior of China's Three Kingdoms period. The cast is expanded to include a number of other characters. There are also a number of other stages, which just increase the variety of the game. The same basic formula from Dynasty Warriors 2 is present. You basically run around an ancient Chinese battleground and kill enemy soldiers and officers. You cant toy with perfection too much can you? The old stages have been revamped and are, in some cases, radically different then their predecessors. The graphics are a stepup in Dynasty Warriors 3. While Dynasty Warriors 2 had very good graphics, it had a number of glitches that could be really annoying, such as weaponry going through solid stone when you move. KOEI cut down on these glitches in a major fashion, though truth be told, there are still some present. This is a fantastic game and is highly addictive. Even the music is awesome, a heavy metal mix that somehow goes so well with brutally killing hundreds of Chinese warriors. Bulk up your favorite warrior and wipe out as many enemies as you can... just wait and see what happens!
