4-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS VERY NICE!!
There are six different Mahjongg games on my PC, but that's not enough for a Mahjongg Junkie, so I bought this one...and it's very good.Colors and graphics and clear and bright, the music doesn't drive you nuts and there are so many choices of backgrounds, tilesets, music and combinations of same that you can never get bored. In fact, it takes awhile to choose your favorites because there are so many.Once you do, however, you will be entertained for hours.I do recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS VERY NICE!
There are approximately five different Mahjongg games on my PC, but that's not enough for a Mahjongg Junkie, so I bought this CD-Rom.Once you explore all the many choices you have for backgrounds, tilesets, music, etc. and settle for those you feel most comfortable with, you'll be very entertained. The graphics are very clear and colorful, the music won't drive you nuts and the applause when you win is a nice touch.I highly recommend this CD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wife loved this present!
My 29 year old wife was always playing the solitare program that comes with Windows XP.I bought her the Sims thinking that she might like it, but it was a little too complicated and involved for her.She likes computer games that are relaxing, and not too much of an investment of time and energy.I bought her this game for her birthday, and she really loved it!She said it was a very thoughtful and creative gift.

The graphics are great, and the music is a lot of fun.The game is not as mindless as people might think, and there is a strategy that can help determine if you win or lose.I have found myself playing 2 or 3 games a day.It is nice how it keeps score of how fast you solved the game, so you can compare your times with other people. This is a great game for people like that like the simple solitare games, and can play in small 10 minute bursts of time in a busy schedule.

1-0 out of 5 stars No Response From Global Star ever!
I LOVED the original Moraff's Maximum Mahjongg. In fact I loved it so much I recommended it to anyone and everyone!! When this one came out I bought it thinking this would be great. Well I was incredibly disappointed. The game would not work on my system, no matter what I tried. I uninstalled and reinstalled it. I even exchanged it, thinking maybe it was the cd-rom that was not working. I could only get into one game. I could never get into any of the options, tile selections, etc. So I went to the Global Star's website to see if there were any patches available. No patches, but there was a contact support form. I filled out the form and got an error message that the form didn't function. So I wrote an email to the email addy listed and never got a response. I wrote them a couple of times and still no response. So basically I have a ... coaster.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best I've seen...
I got hooked on solitaire Mahjongg and have tried about five different PC versions. This, by far, is the best. The tile sets are fantastic, looking like actual Chinese tiles. The games play full screen so your eyes aren't straining. Best of all, there are so many variations, backgrounds, layouts and sets to choose from it's hard to tire of the game. There is even a feature that makes it possible to solve each tile set, so you can skip the shuffle feature if you're inclined. Still,I wind up playing the original game the most.

I also got a kick out of the feature that allows you to create your own tile sets with photos. It took me a couple of tries, but once I got it down, it was easy and fun.

The only drawbacks I found: Each game starts with an enormous cursor, which annoys me, but once you set your preferences you don't have to deal with that. And the game remembers preferences, so you don't constantly have to reset. I also have the music switched off, but that's just me. Also, I wish such other Mahjongg tile games as Gravity Tiles and Concentration were featured, but they're not. Try the Hoyle's disc for excellent versions of those. But for the classic tile matching game, this is the disc to beat. But be warned: It's very addictive. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars surprisingly good
hey! a new game for mac! better buy it! well, despite desperation and low expectations, i have just finished this and really enjoyed it. i did not do the original, "resurrection". this is a long game of moderate to hard difficulty. once, near the beginning, i cheated, but found out theproblem was not from missing things, but from using the inventory improperly.

the graphics and images were first rate: sharp, clear, detailed, and not grainy. there was complete panning at all points. the atmosphere was definitely spooky, enhanced by the sound effects.although there were dark corners, no objects were missed due to shadows. very stable game; no freezes or crashes.because all the credits have french names, i would conclude that the game is from france and the lip synching was for french. also, carfax (draculas house) seems to be in a paris suburb rather than in london. interesting note: in the psychiatrists office, there was a picture of not freud, but charcot, the father of neurology, who was french. also, those bare vampirettes could come out of old paintings.

with respect to gameplay, some have complained that this was a pixel hunt; not really. thehighlighted areas were large and in logical places. most of the roadblocks i encountered concerned using a specific device. read the books carefully, and never forget to try the vampire glasses! one thing that was slightly annoying was that in the sanctuary, when you got killed, there was only a "game over" screen, no shreding or toasting as promised in the book. there are a few true puzzles in this game (one was going down a staircase in the sanctuary). most of the play is finding the right objects and applying them correctly. a novel aspect was the use of timed puzzles. the new frame has a time bar; if it runs out, you die. sometimes, you die over and over while you figure outwhat to do next.

so, with respect to graphics and atmosphere, this is first rate. it is hard enough to keep you interested butnot so hard that you are discouraged. although its not riven, it will be a good additionto ones collection of"adventure" puzzle games.

4-0 out of 5 stars good game

4-0 out of 5 stars Challenging
Very challenging game!Expects serious commitment from the player in terms of learning mechanics --after going throught the tutorial and playing three games, I am still unclear on some of the finer points.Great depth and detail... actual historical events affect gameplay.Definitely one of the neatest ways I've seen to make history come alive.

I have not experience the crashes another reviewer commented on... there is a downloadable update available from the publisher.

2-0 out of 5 stars Difficult interface and buggy
Sort of like RISK on steroids, EU tries to do many things in this zone conquest game. Unfortunately, the user interface is unintuitive and clunky. Given the number of things you need to worry about, this makes the game frustrating. It is not turn based, so as you try to figure out how to send those colonists, the computer is running at full throttle. I have also had many crashes and a patch has already been released to let you load a saved game. How can a game be released that can't even load a saved game. This is a quick and dirty port and it shows. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny bugs in the game
Well, I played this on my windows 98 computer, and I have to say the game is very fun. Each level is neatly textured, and the wheel has certainly improved from the last two games. I have to say that it's very funny to watch the computer players always spin bankrupts, or guess dumb letters like X or Q. Also, Vanna White finally has NORMAL hair for once, nothing too fancy like in the last 2 games. There was one bug in the game that made me fall out of my chair laughing so hard. Sometimes, if you solve a puzzle right, and get a bonus question as well, the game will keep going will not let you choose an answer to the bonus question, but instead let you continue to guess letters for the puzzle, even though it'sa already been solved. Even funnier, I once had a bonus question that I couldn't guess on, and vanna had to make the final spin! It was the funniest thing EVER since there was supposed to be a fourth round, but instead, the game just went to the bonus round instead. Speaking of the final spin, it's also funny to watch Vanna spin the wheel since right after you see her spin, she starts clapping as if she was clapping for you to earn big money. Anyway, I am a bit disappointed on how fast the wheel spins. When it gets close up to show what it's about to land on, the wheel goes from extremely fast to frozen. I just wish it was a little bit better. Overall though, this is a really good game to get even if you don't watch Wheel of Fortune.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you don't have it, get it. If you have v2, skip it.
I am a huge "Wheel of Fortune" fan. In fact, I've been a fan since Chuck Woolery was the host and Susan Stafford turned the letters. (I just dated myself, didn't I?)

That being said, I have owned just about every "Wheel of Fortune" computer game since my old Commodore 64. (I've got to stop dating myself.)

Although it doesn't indicate it on the box, this is actually the third "Wheel of Fortune" Windows game is actually version 3. If you have never played this game on your computer before, or if you still have the old version 1, you will thoroughly enjoy playing this game. There are several game play options you can choose from, including deciding how many rounds you want to play (3, 4, or 5) to how long the game should last (10, 15, or 20 minutes) to what kind of theme background you want to play with (70s Retro, Ultimate Adventure, Fast Cars, etc.). There is also a tournament mode and a cumulative high score section.

If you have version 2, then there is no reason to get this game unless you have played through all 2,000 puzzles from that version (this version contains 3,000 all-new puzzles). The interviews from version 2 have been dropped in favor of more puzzles and 2 new theme backgrounds. Vanna White's videos have been updated, as have how the computer players play the game.

What is most disappointing in version 3 is that the changes that had been made on the TV game at the time were not reflected in the computer game. There is no Toss-Up Round in this game, nor was the bonus round updated to reflect its TV counterpart. Dedicated "Wheel of Fortune" fans will be disappointed at this, as well as hoping the next version more accurately reflects the changes in game play.

So to sum up: Don't get this version if you have version 2 (unless you need the new puzzles). Otherwise, invite some friends over, load the game, and have fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars More of the Same
Just read the reviews, agree with all. What I said on WOF2 applies here.New company, cosmetic changes, same game.I hope there are at least 2500 or more different puzzles, and yes, this game should follow the current TV show.(Lightening rounds, and spin the bonus wheel).I too was really disappointed when I discouvered that the back ground sets were tha save as vol. 2.

As i said in my WOF 2 review, big bonus:Look quick and you see Pat and Vanna in the Hot Tub together.

Still, if one gets 5 stars, they all get 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Who Needs Pat Sajak?
Never having bought the game until recently, I purchased "Wheel Of Fortune 3" because I knew it would be compatible with Windows XP.Therefore, I can't compare it to previous editions.Thedisc is a picture disc of the wheel itself, which is a nice touch. You can choose the length of the game you want to play. The options are a short 10 minute game, a standard 15 minute game, an extended 20 minute game, a 3 round game, a 4 round game and a 5 round game.In addition there are 10 settings in which to play the game itself: Hawaii, Great Outdoors, Orient Escape, Ultimate Adventure, 70's Retro, European Vacation, Fast Cars, New Orleans, Winter Sports and my personal favorite, Las Vegas.

After setting up the game options, the biggest surprise is that the host of the game is Vanna White, not Pat Sajak.Play proceeds pretty much like in the TV game show.To choose a letter, you can click and point on a particular letter, or you can type a letter in using the keyboard.I prefer the click and point method myself. The computer opponents are helpful because, as soon as they get a correct letter and win money, they almost always buy a vowel. In fact, they often buy more than one vowel, which certainly helps me figure out the puzzle. The first day I played the game I tried all 10 settings, and won 9 out of 10 games.Being the big winner does not guarantee success in the bonus round, as I only won 4 out of the 9 bonus prizes. This game is not too difficult to succeed at, and has more than enough options to make playing it very enjoyable.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money . . .
All I wanted to do was get in there and solve puzzles, not wait for eternity while: the theme played, the introduction played, the spin/solve/buy-a-vowel icons came up, the letters marched across the screen, the vowels SEPARATELY marched across the screen, etc.I played for 20 minutes and got through TWO puzzles! They even take time to tell you about "new prizes" on the wheel, as though you were actually going to win them!I threw the thing in the trash. ...
