5-0 out of 5 stars The best game...ever
Copied from review on the RCE:

This game has a steep learning curve, and also steep system requirements, but the game is by far and wide THE funnest game out there in my opinion. Thousands of players controlled by their side's respective high commands (I am a proud member of Oberkommando Der Wermacht in the game), slugging it out tank on tank, plane on plane, ship on ship. Many historically accurate weapons modeled already and more every patch.

With 1.90, we have gotten:Depot spawning representing reinforcements moving up the line, Strategic bombing which ACTUALLY effects what can be researched by the high commands and how much gets produced, new tanks and planes, and in 1.9x series, we get:
Zerstorer 1934A (German destroyer)
Javelin (J) Class Destroyer (British Destroyer)
Le Hardi Class Destroyer (French Destroyer)
Sdfkz 251 APC (German Halftrack)
Laffly with mounted 4.7cm Anti Tank Gun
Stewart (M3) lend lease purchasable to the French
and more!

I am, like many others, an extreme WWIIOL fanboy. I have been playing the game since 1.10, where we had endless tank swarms storming across the Belgian countryside, up until present, when we have organized infantry battles, naval sorties, strategic bombing, air support, and more. And with "Brigade Spawning", the High Commands will actually get to deploy Kampfgruppes and Brigades, Divisions, Korps/Corps, Armies, and even Army groups over the massivee 1/2 scale European map, which currently models in detail Northern France, Western Germany, Southern Britain, Belgium, and Southern Holland, including much of the Zeeland Islands where pure tankless battles take place between determined marines. The map expands almost every patch, oftentimes by leaps and bounds, and giving us more territory to conquer and fight over. Yes, there are occasional expeditions by determined gamers to the Alps, Norway, and Scotland, I have been on a few myself.

We have the most dedicated group of game devs in the world as far as I'm concerned as well, all of whom are active in the community, posting in the forums, and playing their game, truely it is a labor of love for them.

If you're a casual gamer and just want to drive a tank and blow crap up, this is the game for you. If your a dedicated flight simmer who wants to escort bombers that actually affect the ground war and war at large, this is the game for you. If your a hardcore strategy enthusiast and history buff who aspires to lead an online army of fanatical troops marching through the streets of Paris, London, or Berlin, this is the game for you. If you are easily addicted to things, I must warn you:the game is regularly called "online crack", and for good reason ;). Accurate damage models (no hitpoints, actual damage and penetration data), large explosions, drunk people driving Opel troop transports at 80mph down a road with 15 people in the back, and more! Heck, come play for a month and become a flyboy.

PS:You actually don't need too great a gaming rig if you want "just decent" FPS, the hardcore guys will buy new computers practically just for this game.
I started out with:
Compaq with 750mhz AMD Duron
64mb of PC133 SDRAM
8mb Graphics Card

and upgraded to:
Compaq with 750mhz AMD Duron
704mb/640mb PC133 SDRAM
64MB GeForce 4 MX420

Decent frame rates though I had some issues, now I have:

AMD Athlon XP2800+ Barton (2.08GHZ)
128mb GeForce 4 Ti4200
512mb PC2700 DDR (Corsair)
Asus A7n8X Deluve Motherboard
homebuilt with lots of goodies plus monitor for about 900 bucks =)

If you want to play WWIIOL, Recommend the following:
1GHZ+ CPU
512mb+ RAM
Good Motherboard
Broadband internet (though 56k does still work, just not as good packet traffic)

5-0 out of 5 stars Haven't played another game since I got it!
I've played this game for almost two years now and I still love it!
I still have bought nearly all the hottest new On-line games, but I always wind up putting them away shortly after to go back to WWIIOL!
The size, and scope, the fidelity to historical accuracy, and the ability to play as a tank plane AA gun or infantryman along with thousands of others in a accurately modeled 1/2 scale Europe is just too much to resist for any history buff!

Cornered rat Software is always adding new towns, equipment and features, so it's like getting a new game every month! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Everything I was looking for!
I was having a LAN party, and we wanted to play a game from every genre. We played Alien vs. Predator Gold, and Serious Sam for our first person shooters,Sacrifice for our Real time strategy game, and Mega Race 3 for our race game.It is fantastic! It is playable over the network by up to 8 people. The ships are neat, and the tracks are very unique. You are also able to shoot at each other during the game.
The other reviewer had problems getting the game to work. Dreamcatcher has a FAQ on their website telling you to unplug the joystick before attempting to type in your name. The problem is the joystick is constantly being polled. The DirectX registers this as input, so it won't accept typing on the keyboard. If you re-calibrate the joystick, you shouldn't have any problems.A great game, real eye candy!
The price makes it even better!

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning, proceed only with gas masks This "game" stinks!!
I bought this game 2 days before its release.
That by itself should have rung a bell, but I hadn't researched it. I simply bought it for its cover. Yeah, it has a great cover. Futuristic racing, a shooter, even multiplayer.

One problem it doesn't work.

I have a great pc system all my games work. I looked at the min. system requirements and I had all of them. Ok. So I install it,...Then I get to the game and it wants me to enter my name so I type it and nothing comes up. I press enter then type it, nada. I try everthing, nothing. So I get online and try the patch, ziltch. I e-mail dreamcatcher and they run me through the whole turn off everthing and then try it. So I try it, still, you guessed it, nothing.

Maybe I got a defective game, but I returned it to the gaming store I got it from and I asked the salesman to look into it,...so, you decide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A classy MMOG
I'll be the first to admit AC2 had its problems when it launched. However, all of these have now been resolved. The player classes are largely balanced, there is lots to do in game, the crafting system works well, there are now player run vendor shops, the PvP system is alot of fun, its a very newbie friendly game, the combat system is the best EVER in any MMOG. Its fast-paced, tactical, and requires skill rather than just button bashing. definately worth taking a look. Also there is an expansion pack coming out in March with a new race, new continent, and new expansion levels Hero system adding new skills and combat skill-chains.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just not fun
AC2 has good graphics. It just isn't fun. After you get over the novelty of new graphics (which have now been surpassed by many other games), you start to grind.and grind. And even that wouldn't be too bad if you weren't doing it all alone. The point of multi-player games is to play with other players. In AC2 there are times when there is NOBODY else around.Sigh.

3-0 out of 5 stars It would be fun if...
This game really does have it all.It has a lot of stuff to do and the enviroments are truely a marvel. The thing that takes away from it though, is that no one plays it.This game would be better than WoW if more people played it.It's peak population was like 600!!!Also, it has probably dropped now that WoW is out.Anyway, I would have to recommend WoW instead of this game. It's the same formula only 300,000 people play it.Your choice though, play with 600 people or 300,000 people.

3-0 out of 5 stars not sure
I bought asherons call in 1999 and played it for awhile then put it aside until now. I want to play it again but find then download to regain all the updates I have lost is over 100 hrs so thought a new versdion of the game would solve this hope thats true.

5-0 out of 5 stars Getting better
I originally played AC2 in beta and was one of the long-time AC1 players who vocally complained about the mechanics and bugs pervading the game during beta and at launch as well as the seemingly clueless development team willing to release the game with the myriad of flaws.I never purchased the game but did watch from a distance as the game failed, transferred solely to Turbine and began to receive the attention it needed to become the game it could have been all along.I am now playing AC2 again and can say that I'm truly having a blast. The game has made great strides, from the character development at the low to mid-levels to the quests that are readily available and fun to do in groups or solo.Additionally, the new crafting system is outstanding. There are still many areas that need attention, particularly the high level skills (called Hero skills in AC2) and the lack of storage, however, the game is certainly moving in the right direction.Download the free trial and give it a try...you just might find yourself pleasantly surprised by what you find. ... Amazon.com Review

The first word in omnidirectional first-person shooters--Interplay's Descent franchise--entered its third iteration for the Mac in late 1999. For those who loved the first two games, praise God and pass the ammunition: Descent 3 delivers more of the same, not new but certainly improved, meeting and exceeding the already formidable quality of its predecessors.

As with the previous titles, Descent 3 puts you at the controls of a heavily armed, highly maneuverable little spacecraft. Your mission is to duck and dive through subterranean mazes, blasting robotic foes into scrap, all the while fighting vertigo as you spin, thrust, and fire in every conceivable direction. Rich, flawless graphics rendering and realistic sound effects make D3 more convincing than ever. Although the controls can be a little overwhelming for the uninitiated (and might even be complex enough to make a keyboard preferable to a joystick), the upside is superior handling that lets you park on a dime.

Keeping with the same-but-better theme in D3, you get more weapons than ever (20 weapons in primary and secondary slots, including the evil-glee-inducing Mass Driver and Napalm Cannon); an improved Guide Bot to track down whatever you desire (power-ups, enemies, or the next piece in a problem-solving puzzle); way-better robot AIs (letting your enemies hit and run, ambush, work in teams, and feint); indoor/outdoor action (Descent 3's new Fusion Engine uses a flight-sim engine to seamlessly splice in wide-open outdoor environments); and more variations on multiplayer play (over a LAN or the Net). --Paul Hughes

Pros:

  • Same addictive action of Descent and D2--one of the best shows in town for the Mac
  • Deadlier weaponry and smarter robots to use it on
  • Better rendering than ever, plus outside environments
Cons:
  • No significant improvements on game play from previous titles
  • Yawn-inducing back-story

4-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
This is a really cool game. When I found it at a college bookstore ..., I hadn't heard of it and didn't expect much. As soon as I installed it, I knew I was wrong. Although the plot of the single player mode is lame (oh come on, robots with viruses?), its still fun. The environments are very realistic and, after a while, call me crazy, but when I got shot after a time, it almost hurt... :). Multiplayer is even better for this game. Because much of the game is indoors, player pop out of random coridoors and surprise you with your friendly neighborhood mega. Also, the fact that it takes place indoors also makes it really fun while playing against other humans. They are smart, unlike the robots in single player mode, and many times, when a player is concentrating on a dogfight with another player, they are surprise from a nice Mass Driver round in the tail. Well, what are you waiting for? Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST MULTIPLAYER OUT OF THE BOX!
D3 rocks the online world! No game currently available (Dec 2000) has better netcode. The fully Client/Server architecture (Not Permissible C/S!) plays extremely well even when lagged at up to 500ms. "Peer to Peer" multiplayer mode will provide acceptable gameplay at up to 650ms.

Online play is brutally tough. Even with a million robot kills under your belt, you will die many many times when you first venture online to play.

You will need a good joy-stick with an 8-way "HAT" switch - a mouse is a poor controller for D3 (making it much tougher than it already is). D3 requires "Deep Skills" to play online successfully - in other words, you won't get good in 2 weeks. I've been playing online for over a year and now consider myself to be a "good" pilot...

There is an excellent and helpful on-line community. A chat interface comes with Descent 3. You'll often have more than 50 people to talk to in the various chat rooms... to organise a game or ask questions etc.

There are a LOT of web sites to help the online newbie...

The people who stay for more than a week all become addicted! There's nothing quite like it out there - dedication, practice and skills are rewarded with the adulation of your peers and a high kill-ratio. So, put down that tired old "Ground Pounder" andexperience the joys of the "Six Degrees of Freedom" that D3 provides.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm gonna be sick
awesome packaging, and an even better game. Wow!

4-0 out of 5 stars actual game is great, but but it's extremely buggy
Descent 3 is such a great game! sweet graphics, an engrossing plot, really fun to use weapons, and cool new robots. But then it started crashing. And crashing. And crashing more and more in every possible way you couldimagine, from in the middle of a level, to when I was trying to quit, toloading a saved game.I email graphic simulations repeatedly and never gota reply from them. Finally, I called them up and got things working ok(Iactually got an email back from GraphSim a couple days ago, about 3 weeksafter my first email). Now that I know what to do to make the game runwithout crashing, it's an awesome game, but I definitely had to do somefine-tuning to get it working right. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Crashes a lot!!
It is fair, as far as combat flight simulators go. However, it has problems. First, it crashes a lot! (And I mean a lot!!) Second, if you even get anywhere near an enemy plane/ship, it results in a collision with that object. You are dead! This can be very frustrating, since YOU know that you had PLENTY of room between you and the enemy plane.

But if you survive the frustration, then it's is fair add-on to Combat Flight Simulator.

Note: It runs on a WinNT machine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Major dissapointment
The only good thing I can say about this program is that the graphics look good and it did put single missions in the right place with CFS2. Unfortunately, most of it does not work well. For example, when bombing a Japanese carrier I almost landed on the deck before release and yet no damage to either carrier or plane. The program comes with a floppy that is supposed to fix all these bugs. It does not! When I went back to CSF2, I discovered that CSF2 was corrupted to the extent that that I had to remove CSF2 and reinstall it again before CSF2 was working again. I think that I will jsut wait until CSF3 and CSF4 come out. I do not plan to ever use the Midway program again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a fully debugged product
Installed quicky over a clean install of CFS2.Several missions had major bugs including planes that would not start and missing library files.Other missions were impossible to end even when the mission goals were met (warp disabled) unless you flew manually back to base.Additional problems when you tried to change payload from the default.A frustrating experience, especially when I found no patches at Abacus' website.

5-0 out of 5 stars Battle for Midway
Instalation was very quick and easy, 2 to 3 button clicks and it was installed to my CFS2 with no problem, I can also install it to CFS1 if I decide to.
After instalation I put my CFS2 disk in and started flying,
Free flight, is good because you can even fly a B-17 off any of the islands, Just make sure your flaps are down and your at max. throtle or you will not get off the run way. All the other sim. aircraft fly very well
The single missions are very good!
You are going to have to enjoy the single mis. only because it won't intergrate with the main missions.
although the single mis. keeps you busy for hrs.
The graphics are good!
All in all I am very pleased.

5-0 out of 5 stars So much fun!!
My 2 sons(14 and 16) and I love playing this game.In the summer we always try to have a study time of a couple of hours every day and this is always their first choice for one of the hours. It's not like sitting down with a book, but they do learn things accidently.I wish there were a Jeopardy structured just for school questions, but this is still great.

4-0 out of 5 stars What Computer Game Is Close To Perfection?
The second edition of Jeopardy is a very good computer simulation of the TV game show. The graphics and gameplay are outstanding. The bonus features, such as a sample contestant exam and brief interviews with Alex Trebek, are a nice touch. However, even though I've only played the game a half dozen times, a couple of the categories have already been repeated. In addition, it's frustrating when you type in the correct answer but, because of a minor spelling error, the answer is incorrect. I've also noticed that, in Final Jeopardy, my computer opponents ALWAYS bet their entire winnings.Despite these very minor complaints, I found Jeopardy to be consistently enjoyable to play.I can't wait until I've won enough games to qualify for the tournament of champions!

3-0 out of 5 stars jeopardy
I THOUGHT I WAS PRETTY SMART, UNTIL I SEEN THIS GAME. ITS A OK GAME YOU JUST HAVE TO THINK.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very FUN
This game is very fun. I love watching it on television. I was just so happy when I got it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Ever....

3-0 out of 5 stars very unrealistic
it is fun but it has many flaus. very unreall you can only have one employee do something. if you want to have your prouduct advertized it wont let you because your prouduct isn't finished. do you know why? because it will never finish,i'v owned it for 3 months and my proudct hasn't been finished.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Game
The game is a lot better then the first. Gameplay is great.

Pros:

You get to start you dream business in 3 cities

The workers can use the stuff you buy unlike the first game

Free mode

cons:

The workers are always saying complaints

The music is bad

over all i think it's a great game

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother
Let's speak bluntly: these games appeal to the same few thousand buyers who keep this genre predictably profitable.Big Biz Tycoon tries to spice up its well-worn premise by blending the traditional formula with elements of The Sims, but the result is a game that shrinks both genres.

You're placed in command of a fledgling company as you research, sell, and market products-buth this sequel adds handling tasks as mundane as decorating your offices and providing water for your employees. That's right: all the tedious aspects of The Sims, plus spreadsheets!

Running your own company in Big Biz Tycoon 2 is a real hassle. You'r a one-man dynamo, simultaneously playing the roles of CEO, CFO, and Martha Stewart as you balance budgets, hire and fire workers, delegate tasks to individual employees, and even choose between carpet and tile for your company's breakroom. If you focus only on the business aspect of the game, you'll find your employees standing around whining about the lack of air conditioning. We can understand having to deal with such minutiae in a small business, but even when your compan has grown to larger proportions, you still have to oversee every last detail of its operation.

The hassles of playing BBT 2 are worsened by its piss-poor documentation. The cursory manual and tutorial leave out many of the details on how to actually play the game, meaning you're stuck learning by trial and error-very frustrating when your business is at stake.

Other gripes include the game's mediocre 3D graphics enginge (which operates at a fixed resolution of 1024x768)and numerous bugs-I encountered everything from occasional crashes to show-stoppers that were fixed only when I started a new game.

Ultimately, Big Biz Tycoon 2's lack of polish and overemphasis on micromanagement overshadow the potential of the underlying concept.

4-0 out of 5 stars Many Problems but a fun game
My wife and I go this and play it together. I have found several bugs in the code. For example when doing research/prodution/advertising you CAN assign multiple employees to the task. It says that the time to complete the task is reduced however after testing with 1-6 people on one project the time is not actually reduced. Keep this in mind. You can actually go pretty far by just having one employee on each project as long as their stats meet the minumum. You CAN succeed with just a few employees or you can have a slew of producers making every product available. Once you get the hang of this "Bug/flaw" you can stop wasting money and spend most of your time watching for prices to rise so you can sell and not go bankrupt. I have alot of problems with stability. If moving a chair that is used by an employee it will crash. Moving the Air conditioner outside will also cause a crash. Dont do those things and you can become a successful Biz Tycoon. I am just hoping for a patch.
Activision VALUE shouldn't be know as Activision Trying to make something. Great ideas but its missing some follow through. I agree this should have been a BETA not a final release. If the bugs can be worked out this would be a high paced game. Otherwise I would say its pretty addictive even with the bugs

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It

5-0 out of 5 stars Where is the NEXT sequel???
I LOVE this game and it saddens me that it's so underappreciated. True, several of the promises in the previews weren't fulfilled but the story is deep, the graphics GORGEOUS (I've never seen a winter-landscape put to life more beautifully and it such stunning colours before) and the movement isn't as hard. Of course, as a knight you have to ride a horse! What were you thinking, that Bradwen would use a plane? It's a brilliant games for its history, amazing story and beautiful graphics!!! Please release a third part of this legend! PLEASE!

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT! But......
A superb concept with a deep story and nice graphics. The sequel has many great ideas but has the same flaws as the first game. At last a heroic game without just slaughter, slaughter, slaughter... The problem is that many ideas listed in the previews (Like MORE women, evil choices, honour-codex, etc. etc.) haven't been fulfilled. Thus, if you don't make the right decision, you die. It was promised that there are MANY ways to complete Bradwen's quests, yet there is only one way. SAD, because this was a GREAT idea. I love the game because I'm a history-buff and because I'm sick of the 76545676464356753 football-games and the even more Action-Murder-games. This game has depth at least. I may not be flawless but it's a great effort.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good story but depressing!
This second game is not quite as good as the first. The first I felt was more interesting this story was too depressing even though you save everyone from the main monster your characters end up not happily ever after. I also would like to know what exactly The Secret of Merlin was? The whole game did not even talk about it. All this story talked about was a curse that you had to find out why it was put on and who put it on. Another thing that bothered me about this game was that you visited alot of the same places that you did from the first game and there were only maybe 2 or 3 new places to visit but it felt like you were playing the first game again. I liked it but it was not as good as the first one but I am willing to give it 3 stars for good story even though depressing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not what you'd expect
I bought this game without playing the first Arthur's Knights and assumed because it's brand spanking new and advertised as XP compatable, that it'd be fun to sit down and kill some brain cell over. The brain cells killed were from frustration over the choppy movement, bad voice-overs and no real tutorial on how to interact with the characters and scenary. I, ..., was tired of the ride, find, ride back just to find out one small thing wasn't done back where I just left, go back, look for what I missed, return to the person who sent me, just to have the game crash and I had to return to my last save. I found that the game WILL let you save over a past save, so there are more than 10 saves available. (only 10 slots available) But....this doesn't make up for the last 2 hours of running around which I just lost and have to do again. To top it off, I send an e-mail to the Adventurecompanygames site asking for assistance and I get no reply for a week. Not a good way to run a business. It appears this game is only eye candy with some exceptional graphics but I had more fun with simgolf.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get on your horse, Get off your horse
If you're expecting AK2 to be supreme over its predecessor, think again. This game is identical to the first AK, from its locations to its characters.I found this game to be just a series of inventory puzzles; get on your horse, get off your horse, go collect item, get on your horse, go to different location, get off your horse, use item.Mapping system is ANNOYING! (a jump feature would have been surperb) and the voice over acting is generally over done. The game is designed in Direct Draw, which hates most modern 3D accelerated video cards.Loves to crash without warning. Also, for some bizarre reason, you are limited to only TEN save game slots per player. Why ten? I have no idea!! So this makes the game difficult to replay. Bug in the reloading process that makes progressive games a pain to load. To top it all off, the game is much too long for how it is paced.I felt sick of riding my horse all over creation, aimlessly looking for a certain rock.My advice, unless you loved the first game, avoid this one! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars "TO THE HUNT!"
Big Game Hunter 6 is a game that one (child or adult)could literally play for hours. Why?

For starters, it is incredibly realistice. You have the choice of several rifles, bows, you can use calls, set up a blind, camp for the night, hunt at various times, and ride a pick-up or a three-wheeler.

A couple of things you cannot do is (a)shoot game "out of season," and (b)shoot another hunter, or a game warden. You'll be immediately stopped in your tracks, read the riot act, and you'll have to start your hunt anew.

My son and I have spent hours together on the computer hunting game in Wyoming, Alabama, etc, during all kinds of weather.

A wonderful way to spend time with your son, or space out after a long day at work.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Game!
I think this is a great game, but make sure your computer meets all of the requirements to play the game. I thought the game would work on my computer and it does, but it is slow and the sound sometimes does not word. I found out that my computer only had 7.5 MB of RAM from my video card instead of 16 MB. Other than that I think it is a great game! I really like how you can pick from the 3D hunting mode or live action video.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool game ... if you have the extra hardware!
I bought this game for my Dad who uses XP on his computer. We had to play around with it for awhile before my Dad realized that you need to go into the graphics menu to adjust the graphics acceleration for the standards of your own computer. (The book leaves that essential bit out!) My Dad seems to really enjoy the game but it took nearly a month to get it finally working right. Also, the makers of the game are not that willing to help you in your plights, and more often than not want to try to get you to return the software to the store you bought it from. Everyone knows that stores don't let you return software most of the time! If you know how to fiddle with games to make them work on your computer, go ahead and get this one. Otherwise, approach with caution. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value and variety
Even though not all the programs would load properly, the cheap price and variety on offer make this exceptional value.

1. Chessmaster 7000 is obviously the main attraction as it has a very popwerful engine, great graphics, and suitable for all age groups, elo levels, and has good teaching tools.

2 Combatchess is great entertainment. The fantasy movie and sound graphics keep my kids coming back for more. They now ask to play a game of "combatchess" with the real pieces. (The engine is not nearly as powerful as chessmaster but is fine for kids and players up to intermediate level.)

3. Ultimate Checkers is useful as a bare bones dos style 2D checkers program. I wouldn't pay good money for a checkers program on its own even though it would have more bells and whistles. But since it is thrown in for free it is not bad as an opponent when you want a game of checkers but don't have another player.

On the other hand Ultimate Chess is crap. It is an old program with very basic dos like 2D graphics and a weak engine. I'm no grandmaster but I can easily beat this toad even when set to highest level. It also has no fancy graphics, no teaching mode and nothing for children. It has nothing and is worth nothing.

4. LegoChess is good entertainment for kids. (but not as exciting as Combatchess). The pirate themes etc will keep kids interested and the movie and sound graphics are cool. The teaching tutorials for kids are also far better than those in Combatchess. This is the best teaching tool for young children in the package.

5. Cyberchess is a real dog. First it wouldn't load on a very old PC (7 years win 95). Then it froze on a less old win 98 PIII computer. From what I could see it looked like a pretty poor 3d graphic program with just a board and no other information. Apparently it is a rip off of combatchess using a sci-fi fantasy theme but is not considered nearly as good.

In sum getting chessmaster, combatchess, legochess, and a basic checkers program for such a low price is excellent value. Even if you throw out cyber chess and forget about ulticrap chess.

This is also by far the best and latest of the 3 chess advantage multi packs. You will probably need to buy it as a remainder as it is no longer in the shops but it is well worth the trouble. You won't get any better variety for such a low price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Chess Advantage 3=Chessmaster 7000
I seen this in a store and bought it without checking out the reviews.I dont like Lego Chess, Combat Chess, Ultimate Chess, or Cyber Chess. They are just filler. But Chessmaster 7000 is very good.It has alot of good training drills and many different strength players to play against. So I feel it was a good buy.But I was unaware at the time that there were newer Chessmaster's out.So this is alitte high considering that Chessmaster 7000 is the only good game.I would recommend buying just Chessmaster 7000 by itself or a newer version if you can get it cheaper than this bundle.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good set of games but needs a few updates.
If chess is considered the game of kings, then Chess Advantage III would model. Encore Software has put together 5 different and unique versions of chess that will give everyone a challenge and create fun at the same time.

Each version installed without any real problems. The is no install setup that list all so you have some work in order to get the different games to load. Get past that and you can begin playing in no time flat.

There is a game for all skill levels and I found ChessMaster 7000 to be a real challenge. I enjoyed the Combat chess and the graphics associated with each version, although the Lego Chess could use some work.

Speaking of Lego Chess, here's a game that has you enter the child's age and it seems to tailor the skill level to that setting. It also has great animation which should entertain the child while playing.

I did find the instruction guide a little in the light side, but a PDF help file was included with the CDs. Overall this would make a great gift for any occasion. A few minor changes and updates and this is package has great potential. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Test Drive 6cool game but not perfect
I just bought this game. The price was right and I love muscle cars. This game delivers some interesting cars;muscle cars, foreign sports cars.It plays fairly well on a keyboard.I give it a star for cool car selection. They have some excellent Mopar cars on here! The graphics are good. The game setup for playing is good with a lot of double-checks for quitting, wager amounts,etc.. Managing identities is clumsy! It's not easy or user friendly at all!I took a point off for that. You can choose paint colors for your car.A++ on that!REALISM...There is an addictive "rush" when speeding along with a Hemi Cuda. But there is no damaging these cars! The special effects on crashes and the audio are very good though. This game will need a lot of memory!!At least 300 mb.An earlier reviewer recommended an up-to-date video card. That's 100% true!!I have a 64mb geforce2 MX400 video card and the game is very good on it!No way it would have played on the garbage intelvideo card that came with my Pavillion.BOTTOM LINE:If you dig 60's muscle cars and a challenging game,I got Test Drive 6 for under $$.It's more than worth the price.Overall I give it 4 stars. It is challenging and has way cool cars!If you're looking for a game that is challenging as far as damage to cars, this won't be the game.It depends on what you are looking for in a game. But I'll keep Test drive 6.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not good
The cars are completely unrealistic. They don't handle like the cars they are.The environmental graphics are alright but the cars are just silly looking. If you want a realistic racing game check out NFS - Porsche Unleashed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite addictive when ya get good at it.
I bought the game one day for [money] 'cause it had a viper on the cover and I like vipers.I played it and found that the simplicity of everything makes it just plain fun to play.No need to worry about car damage or any complicated stuff.Just get from one end to the other the fastest.Play it.

5-0 out of 5 stars test drive 6
if you can find this game buy it. i have a demo for a pc and it is the most incredible, awesome, heartstopping, pavement pounding driving game i have ever experienced.
I t is a must have. the graphic and soundtrack are what makes it, along with hair hairraising turns and mach 3 speeds.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good and bad - its all up to your taste
I had this game for about 6 months now (I played demo version for 3 months before I actually bought this one).

Good - speedy, addictive, challenging, and easy to play.(Drift is so easy with this game and I love it!!!). This game got tons of exotic cars and plentiful of different tracks, which I never new they existed before. And this game is quite playable with keyboard.

Bad - lack of realities. Cars move more like Go-carts then real ones. (In my opinion, Porche Unleashed and Driver series does much better job on this.)
Cars never go down no matter how much you abuse them. And this game is not quite playable with racing wheels, compare to other racing games. You just can't drive straight with racing wheel!
There isn't much difference in handlings between cars. Maybe a couple out of about 40 different cars - ones easier to drift, others are good on cornering, etc. I felt pretty much all same when I upgrade parts to level 4.

Last few words - This is one of best driving game, if you like arcade type of speed and action like me. If you want more realistic simulation of driving, this game may disappoints you.

Oh, by the way, you'll need 3D card to enjoy this game. I think something like Riva TNT2 or later ones will do. (my old RagePro didn't do well and its same for other 3D games I mentions here.) ... Read more
