5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it!Man's best friend.
I just bought one of these chairs for my husband for Christmas 2004.He hasn't gotten off this thing yet. He's a computer guy and as most of us know they have a tendency to be gamers as well.It was an easy setup and worked instantly!I like it cause the tv doesn't have to blaring to play the vid game, because the speakers are right next to his ears.I sat in it momentarily and thought it was quite comfortable.Don't hesitate anymore, just buy it - you won't regret it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Train Wreck!!!!!!!
If the goal was to throw a bunch of low quality crap into one package and then rip off the consumer then I would have given it 5 stars. Since that's not the case I gave it two, and that's just because I really needed the cable extension. For the lack of a more mature word I'll have to just say that the disc case just sucks. I may as well just drag my games across the street in front of my house. Now with the controller (this is going to hurt). Lets just say it's in about 1000 pieces on the ground. It's was not my temper that broke it into all those little pieces, it was that horrible piece of crap that keep taunting me. This thing was just train wreck that somehow got packaged as a controller. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this thing. It will ruin you lives. Seriously, just spent a few extra bucks and stick with the Microsoft accessories and a Case Logic disc case.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value, even with the large controller
When XBox first debuted, it included an oversize controller that many found to be unwieldy and awkward to use. Microsoft addressed this by creating the Controller S, now included with the XBox system. However, the original oversize controller still has many fans (I still sell a fair number of them at my store), and once you get used to it, it's not so bad. Kids may find it difficult to use, so if you're buying this for a child, go for the Controller S, the Phoenix Pad, or the Mad Catz Micro Controller for them. That said, there's still a lot of value in this kit. The 6' extension cable is an $8-$10 value; the game cases for portability are about $4-$6 separately. Those are pretty good extras, but it is the bag (equivalents sell for about $15-$20) and the controller that make this worthwhile.

4-0 out of 5 stars Warning: Large Controller.Still good though.
I got the XBox starter kit with my XBox, because it was the same price as the other controllers, but included a game DVD case and a 6' extension cord.It stayed at 4 stars for the extra value, but the controller itself is a little large and cumbersome at first. The format was different from any other controller ive ever used.I've gotten used to it, and like it better now, but it took a while.
This is the original controller that Microsoft released, but now they also have the Controller "S" which stands for smaller. The key placement on the two controllers are different.Microsoft moved some of the buttons when they downsized, and made them a little easier to reach. The smaller controller is closer to the format of what you might be used to from Nintendo or the older Sega systems. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars shoddy product
I warn all the people interested in buying this controller, DONT BUY IT!! This controller is absoluteley awful. Buy this controller and I can garuntee you will be dissappointed. First off, it doesnt feel good in your hands, its too big and bulky and it is too heavy. I had the controller for 2 days and the analog sticks doesnt even work. And the buttons dont respond quick enough. Worst freaking controller ever. Dont buy it!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars really nice looking but poorly made
i have already had 2 of these controller and they both have broken.they are made very poorly and break very easily.do not buy this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars havn't used my Dual Shock since
after about a year of use, one of my two dual shocks started acting up and giving me problems

not wanting to spend full price on a controller i barely like, i started looking around and found this Open box in my local Best Buy

i went home and looked up some reviews and decided to buy it, i havn't used my dual shock since i bought this last July

the D-pad is excellent and the remaing buttons are all up to DS2 standards, the handles on the DS2 have always bothered me(and i dont even have big hands) and this fit my hand perfectly

only thing that bothers me is that the joystick is raised slightly too high

1-0 out of 5 stars not made well at all
sort of cheap feeling controller.it broke after 2 days of playing, the x button stopped working!!!

it was a waste of money.

2-0 out of 5 stars poorly made no calibration
the calibration is very off.this controller is not worth $10.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more wires all over the living room.
Works great, no noticable delay, love the low battery warning light.

Having a 1 1/2 year old, I got tired of trying to play Xbox with my friend in the living room and having controller wires stretched out all over the room. She'd constantly get tangled up in the wires, or grab a controller to try to play with dad then turn a couple circles getting the wires wrapped around her.Now I don't have to worry. There are absolutely no wires comming out of the controller. The only wire at all is about 6" connecting the receiver to the xbox.

After reading the good review of this here and gamespot I decided to get a pair of these controllers.I liked the fact that they had the low battery warning light. That way you know before you start a game if the batteries need changing.I don't have a big living room, so I've not come close to testing out the 50 foot range. But I haven't experienced any problems while playing Halo 2.

I hooked up both controllers out of the box and read the instructions.I forgot which controller went to which receiver but it didn't matter.Pushed the change channel button on each receiver and then hit any 1 button on each controller after waiting 3 seconds after pushing the change channel button just like the manual said. That was all it took, perfect communication since, even after many times of turning the power on the controller on and off.

It was just hard to find any of these for sale on the internet.Had to go to an auction site.

Now I wish I hadn't already spent the money to buy the wired controllers I already had.For around $30 these wireless models aren't much more than the wired controllers.Well worth the little bit extra.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eclipse 2 best wireless controller for its price
There are other wireless controllers out there that are better, but they all cost more than $50. For $30 you cant get anything better. Everyone that has a gamecube has the wavebird, the best wireless controller out there, and for the Xbox this is the closet to the wavebird. It's light and close to the size of the regular controllers from the xbox. Unlike most wireless controllers you have the rumble feature with this controller. Turning the rumble on will drain your batteries a lot faster but it only takes 2 AA so it's not too bad. With all the wireless controllers you always have to make sure you don't keep it on all day, well with this one it will turn off by itself if you don't use it for 15 min. it also has a cool button layout, all of the button layouts are the same as the regular controllers but this one has the white and black buttons also on the top of the controller similar to the L1 and R1 buttons on the playstation controllers. Overall this is the best controller you can get for $30, I would buy this controller over the regular xbox controllers. The only bad this is that you cant play xbox live with this controller, so if you are looking to play online and this is the only controller you have don't buy this, but if you are just looking for an extra controller this is better than the regular ones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Verdict still out
The range and fit is great... One thing I noticed is the buttons are not very easy. You have to press them hard to get the response. On review said they break in after a bit of use, I have not used mine very much yet so I'll add that later. If the buttons become more sensitive, then I'll give it 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent controller
I got this controller for a gift, and i was kind of skeptical of using it.but i love it.i love the feel of it and i love that it has the white and black buttons on the shoulders of the controller above the triggers.it has great range.i also really like the rubber grips.this is the only controller i use now.

5-0 out of 5 stars wireless controller review
I don't understand why this product only has 1.5 stars right now. I loved it and found no problems at all

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised
I was hesitant to spend $40 on this especially w/ the mixed reviews.I have a projection TV that is just too dark with my PS2 and DVD player.I bought a Monster Cable S-video cable and it helped but not much.I was worried it would fade out or distort the picture and I didn't want to go back to composite cables. The color is still rich and bright with no noticeable distortion.I would recommend this for anybody with a projection TV with a picture that is too dark but as for a tube or LCD TV you're better off with a set of quality cables. It's hard to find this product but I found mine on ebay and paid half the MSRP.Any questions you can e-mail me at jlnann68@hotmail.com

3-0 out of 5 stars does the vge enhancer work
this enhancer does not do anything your tv cant. All that it does is let you adjust the contrast and brightness from a little machine. It makes the picture brighter, sometimes making it harder to view. when it says to use it when the picture is dark all it does is make the screen completey hazy. Your tv is the same thing as the vge enhancer. it does nothing. Do not buy it. it is the thing that microsoft and nintendo and sony worked to stop. it ruins the whole picture. I have opened up the vge enhancer and found nothing that would enhance a game. Ive found the components to make a tv brighter.

1-0 out of 5 stars JUNK
I was hoping that the view good reviews would be promising but this thing is CRUD!It doesn't even do whats advertised!Lightening color.I tried many times and enhanced mode, the suposed lighter color is normal!Un enhanced, the supposed normal is dim!

1-0 out of 5 stars Don not even waste your money
I am lucky I didn't purchase this thing. A friend of mine bought it and I went over to check it out. I seen no difference than if you adjusted the contrast and such on your on your tv. If you want better picture quality..upgrade to S-video cables or buy a HDTV. Word of note..if buy a HDTV..make sure youget one that can atleast display 720p..480p is a good enhancment..but more and more games..espicially on the XBOX,have the 720p option..talk about outstanding clarity and greatly improved graphics.

5-0 out of 5 stars VGE Video Game Enchancer
I can't believe how some people are knocking this product. I've been playing games for 18 yrs. I love the Dreamcast and Xbox. My TV. is less than a yr. old. I use it with the Xbox and my games are more visible and I can see improvement in the graphics. The Xbox is a Great system and I can still see improvement with this product. This product has made my Xbox experience even better. Now there is nothing that can beat that! ... Read more

This controller is good, but if you are use to the "S" contollers, this may be a little too big, and unlike the "S" the black and white buttons are above the "Y" button(rather than bellow the "A" button.) but overall is a reliable controller. 1-0 out of 5 stars didnt work
I bought this when i got the xbox because i hated the huge controller. Took it out of the millitary issue plastic wrap and 20 minutes later pluged in in with Halo. It worked for 5 seconds and then shut off. I tried everything like changing the channels on the reciever and controller and it just quit. I do not recomend this.

2-0 out of 5 stars Decent, not worth the money though
I purchased this for my XBOX a few months ago, and I must say that this controller is unacceptable. Sometimes while I play the joystick won't let me walk backward on Halo. Sometimes it won't move at all on some games. It I could go back in time, I would have bought a Microsoft brand XBOX controller. Don't get me wrong, this controller is worth about ten dollars at the most.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cordless is the way to go!
Sick of yanking the controler cord out of the unit I vowed to get a cordless one. After purchasing this style I can't be happier (I now have 3 of them). You can actually hook up 8 of them without interfering with each other. The unit works just like a corded one, there is no noticeable lag and reacts instantly to your inputs. The batteries last for a long time and the reception is flawless.(I use and recommend rechargable ones, esp. ones with a high maH). The unit is very ergonomic and comfortable to hold. The only knock I have with it is the painted coating gets slick during intense gaming.Overall very nice design and good product. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Stopped working
I purchased this controller and was immediately dissapointed. It was large and clunky (this is from a dude with large hands). The triggers are tooo sensitive, and not ideal for games which require a bit of tension with the springs. (See ESPN NBA BASKETBALL). I like the fact that the black and white buttons are shoulder buttons. But more than anything else I wouldnt suggest it because within a few weeks the controller started to freak out and then i suddenly died out on me.

Pros
Black and white shoulder buttons
Price

Cons
Big and clunky
It feels cheap
Sensitive L+R Triggers
Stopped working

3-0 out of 5 stars Great quality, not comfortable
I think that in terms of quality this Microsoft Controller is definetely the best, but is it the best in terms of comfortability? The answer is defintely not. I even found that when i picked up the new "Alien infestation controller (limited)" which has bumps that were meant to be on it all over the controller, it was still more comfortable then that of Microsofts jet black smooth controller. Why might that be? The answer is because of the massive size of this controller versus the smaller more compact size of Mad Catz contoller and even the Alien Infistation controller. For adults, this contoller might be find, but for kids/little kids, they will definetely hate it and demand for a smaller one. That is basically what i did and i have to say that i was much more satisfied with the smaller one. The only good thing about this controller though is the amazing quality, i still have one of these from November 11th 2001, the day Xbox first came out and the controller is still working perfectly well. Another good thing about it is that the cable cord is very long so if you have your Xbox elevated it can still reach perfectly well, you can even sit far away from your console, even if it is elevated and the cord will reach fine.

So basically there are thirteen buttons/triggers/analog sticks (all together) on the Xbox controller. You have the L and R triggers on the back, the L trigger on the left and the R trigger on the right. You have one analog stick on the upper left hand side of the controller and another analog stick on the bottom right hand side of the controller. The fairly comfortable D Pad is on the lower left hand side of the controller and the "start" and "back" buttons are on the very bottom of the controller. The back button is usually used to view stats, pause game or is not used at all, i really didn't see the need in this button. Moving on you have the x button on the upper right, you have the y button n the upper right as well, as well as the b and a button. you then have the white button and the black button which are placed just a little above the four core buttons. There is also a rather large "Xbox" logo smacked right in the upper/middle part of the controller.

You then have two slots on the back/bottom of the controller which is used for placing a memory card/xbox communicator chip into.

The other bad thing about this controller is that seeing it is black, your hand tends to get extremely sweaty after using it as well as the Mad Catz controller. It can be kind of gross when you want to receive a controller that your friend has just used or you want to swap controllers and its dripping in sweat, this cannot be very pleasing at times, they should have made the color white or something, it DOESN'T have to match the color of the core console.

In conclusion, i do not think that this controller is worth its money when you can just get a smaller/cheaper/more practicle controller made by madcatz.

1-0 out of 5 stars it is horrible
i have owned this controller for not even a week and it already broke. On halo2 to look down it takes so long.... i seriously recommend you to not buy it and invest your money in a microsoft brand controller.DON'T BUY!!!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An affordable way to bring the arcade home
My friends and I have been playing quite the assortment of 2-D and 3-D fighters lately spanning Game Cube, XBOX, and the PS2. During a recent visit to a local mall, I played a game of Tekken 5. While I'm not too bad at console fighters, I wasn't used to the arcade stick and button layout of the arcade machine. This prompted me to look into arcade sticks. I had read great things about the X-Arcade stick, but it was a bit out of reach for this college student's wallet. Fortuantely, I found the Pelican Arcade Stick at an attractive price.

The first thing to note about this stick is it's heavy-duty construction and extra conveniences. The cabinet is made out of a tough vinyl-coated wood which is secured together with an army of black screws. When I say heavy, I mean heavy! This stick is heavier than it looks, but this offers stability when you're hammering away at your favorite arcade prot. The upper left corner of the deck has slotted metal bracket which holds the included reference cards that tell you the button correlation of your console's native controller. A storage compartment on the rear of the cabinet allows you store the cord of the stick when it's not in use.

This stick is responsive! The smallest button press registers with the game. This asures that you won't miss a kick or punch in the midst of gameplay. I give Pelican high marks for making this stick competitive.

Do you play online fighters such as DOA Ultimate for XBOX? You are probably going to want to use your headset. Pelican smartly cleverly addressed this by including a XBOX memory card/accessory slot into the front of the cabinet.

After using this stick for a few weeks, I do have a few -small- gripes. The cabinet spans more than the width of my lap and holding the stick there can be uncomfortable before too long. I'd recommend setting the stick atop a coffee table or similar surface if you're going to be playing very long. I was also disappointed by the foam pads that cover the screws on the bottom of the cabinet. Many of mine had fallen off in the packaging. A small annoyance, yet they can be easily replaced.

I see that another reviewer noted that this stick shorted out his/her rumble feature and that this stick does not work with the new slim PS2s. First off, I own a slim PS2 and this stick works fine with it. However, we tried it on my friends first-gen PS2 and it did not work. Fotunatley, Pelican takes pride in its product and offers the buyer a solution if the stick does not work. In the warranty, Pelican promises to replace or repair any system damaged by their product. This warranty lasts 5 years, so you shouldn't have to worry about deciding to buy this arcade stick.

This stick is deffinitely the closest you're going to come to an arcade feel for half of what an X-Arcade Stick costs. It works great for fighters and other games as well, such as 2-D sidescrollers like the Metal Slug series. It's hard to be disappointed with this stick and I feel that you get more than what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars This controller can hurt your system
Even though I loved this controller, I can not in good conscience recommend this "Universal" version of it.The reason is because the "Universal" version actually has compatibility issues with the Playstation 2 which can cause it to short out the rumble feature of your system, which can cause certain third-party materials to not work to their full potential and will cause this stick in particular to not work at all.

If you do not have a Playstation 2, this stick will work fine.If you plan to use it on your Playstation 2, however, then search out the non-universal version, which will not have this problem.

Also, the "Universal" version of this controller does not work with the new, slim model of PS2. ... Read more
