5-0 out of 5 stars Very good controller, Don't fear buying this controller
I had seen reviews of apparently the PL-2050's forerunner and they were very poor. (Both the reviews and apparently the product too) But, the PL-2050 is a very nice controller. It feels a lot like the stock xbox controller, in both quality and function. I think I like the button location better on the PL-2050 than the stock controller and there is no noticeable lag Vs the wired controller.

The only "con" I can come up with for the PL-2050 is that I wish the RF receiver had a slightly longer cord. But, that is a very minor complaint.

I am tempted to get a second PL-2050 so my 1 year daughter will not have any cords to pull on. :-)

For the $ you can not beat this controller for a wireless controller.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good product for the money
I have had XBox for just over a year and have been impressed. The controllers were one of my favorite parts and this Pelican does not disappoint.

I have owned the Pelican Spirit wireless controller and was angered by the poor quality. I got this shortly after, having seen better reviews and here is my assessment of the controller overall:

Ergonomics: Excellent - the XBox contoller-S is perfect for me and this is very nearly the same thing

Lag: Excellent - nearly none whatsoever - 2.4 ghz transmitter ensures this

Functionality: Very Good - buttons are placed almost exactly the same - added white/black buttons are a bit superfluous and hard to reach though for smaller hands. Dual rumble packs are pretty good, but not as strong as the controller-s

Craftsmanship: Excellent - very well made - I have dropped it a few times with no problems whatsoever (had a problem with this with the Spirit)

Connection: Excellent - even with things in the way, the connection stays strong - auto frequency hopping keeps a strong signal for a good distance

Battery Life: Very Good - as with all wireless controllers, the battery life is by no means spectacular, but surpasses my other wireless controllers. have yet to change batteries

Overall: Excellent - for only $30, this is one of the least expensive wireless controllers. It's a well-made controller that serves its function very well. For the money, it's the best controller I've seen yet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Expensive but fun
Steel Battalion is expensive but fun.

It comes with controllers to play the game. The footpeddles are sturdy.

In Steel Battalion, you pilot a VT(vertical tank) though missions. The mech controls well even though the controls are hard to get used to. You generally have allies in these mission that help you comple your objectives. For the most part, these missions are hard.

A flaw in Steel Battalion is the fact that there are not enough missions. There are only a few missions and I would like more. Also, it can be hard to bring out the controller to play the game.

If you have the money, I suggest that you get it just for the experience.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too much cost for too little!!!
This game is a great sim don't get me wrong but if you have a PC Go buy all the mechwarrior tittles they are all rather low priced now and if your looking for a controller go find a Saitek Flight control system. With all of the mechwarrior games you get more variety in the mech you control, weapon loadouts, speed vs. armor. And lots more missions. Plus online fun with a mission editor. All that for the cost of this hunk of junk, and the controllers work for anything from space fighters, to real aircraft. Not just one or in this case two games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hardcore Gamer's R3jo1c3!!!
I recently purchased the Steel Battalion controller/game bundle and since then my brain has been fried. This is the most immmersive and realistic game I've ever played.Getting the behemoth of a controller setup takes a bit of mental effort as it's much easier to simply pop in Halo 2 and go than lug out the controller and foot pedals, but once it is set up, say goodbye to Halo 2!!!The game can be slightly slow paced at times, but only if your strategy is to make it that way, so play the game fast or slow, your choice!Sit back and snipe with the 315mm Smooth Bore rifle or run in at top speed (initial VT tops out at 115KM or so) with your plasma torch unsheathed and deliver a crushing blow!Be careful not to push the limits of your mech too much or you'll tip it over!! (Not a good thing when you have 3-4 converging lines of fire right where you land!)And with 24 missions the game has the longevity to keep you going! WARNING! - This game is not for casual gamers in search of a MechAssault experience!Make sure you are a fan of simulator games and can handle severe challenges!

p.s. don't get killed!!! (Bad things happen)

Ease of Use - 0/10
Graphics - 7/10
Controls - 10/10
Simple, Plain Fun - 10/10

3-0 out of 5 stars WAY OVERATED
OK, this is a great game, very unique and revolutionary, but please dont be fooled, this game is way overpriced, especially when u can go buy 4 other games for the price of this one.I am a seasoned gamer, and i decided to buy this game. It was fantastic for the first 2 hours, than it got old, diffuculty was raised rapidly, toward driving me crazy.
Also, the controller feel VERY cheap, i was expecting something great out of this 40-button controller, but it's just mad out of cheap bendable plastic.
So please, save your money, rent one, or borrow one from a friend..... or better yet, BUY ONE (i need to sell the one i have and get halo 2 ;) !!! )

5-0 out of 5 stars Gaming Chutzpa
This game is not for those looking for something to sit next to the latest madden or Tekken iteration. It is certainly not a "flawless" game in the mold of Halo or Metal Gear Solid.

The title is uniquely demanding in resources and skill, and therefore it is uniquely rewarding. I would characterize it as a cross between an arcade game and a sim-- however odd that may seem.

Don't think of it as an expensive XBOX game; think of it as an inexpensive arcade game, with a very unique control system. I love it. Steel Battalion has been providing me with the kind of gaming bliss I have not experienced since Halo. Bring on Line of Contact. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome shotgun/rifle and a few humble pointers
OVERALL
The rifle, in my opinion is a very capable piece of hardware. Contrary to what most people apparently think about it, I like it!It probably depends on a number of different factors - pretty much whether someone would enjoy it or not lies within the default brightness of your TV and the patience of the gamer. In the end, it really can work like the arcade game without so many disappointments experienced by other gamers. Also, keep in mind that the brunt (or all) of the problems are associated with Silent Scope Complete for the XBox.If you are playing House of the Dead III, for example...All of the brightness level, scrolling, and detection issues disappear!

ASSEMBLY & PREPARATION
The assembly's easy and the manual guides you through the calibration.I actually didn't have to turn my brightness up really high.I used the game option in the silent scope complete xbox game to increase it slightly.Say, if the normal brightness is 20, I notched it up to 30 or so.It was enough to gave it a slight tint of white.

Still, the brightness wasn't so high that I was blinded or anything. On some stages, I really didn't notice it.And the accessory is so cool that adjusting to a little bit of increased whiteness (the few times I did notice) is insignificant for the performance increase you gain. It's really not that bad of a trade-off.

The trick is to get the level of brightness (game settings NOT your actual TV settings) to just the exact threshold of being faulty and being smooth.I humbly suggest you crank up the brightness to the point where the crosshair detection is silky smooth and ignore how freakishly bright your screen is...THEN you start decreasing the brightness while testing your crosshair movement at the same time.Continue to decrease the brightness until your crosshair starts jumping and skipping all over the place.THEN return the brightness to the last level of silky smoothness (which should just be back one digit) and tada! You minimized the amount of brightness on your screen while maintaining your maximum detection level.Note that this is for the GAME's brightness setting. It's probably not a good idea to begin fiddling around with your TV's brightness levels until you absolutely think that's the last draw.If you adjust the game setting brightness (rather than your actual TV's brightness), you won't have to re-adjust your brightness on your TV everytime you want to watch it or play something else. The xbox will save your settings so you won't be messing with the screen everytime.

Still, the fact that you MUST adjust anything to your existing game settings does count against some gamers. Therefore, overall this accessory is limited to a four star score. But that's still pretty awesome. It all depends on whether or not you're willing to fine tune your instruments.Don't expect this thing to perfectly tuned right out of the box.Once you get the nasty brightness dilemma out of the way, you can start tweaking it for a headache-free experience with the game.Granted, the gun will work satisfactorily now, but it'll probably leave a mediocore taste in your mouth...That's why I resorted to some small adjusting with the scope settings...

Now, I like to fine tune anything that's possible. And that's fortunate for me, because I recommend you go to each game setting of Silent Scope Complete and enter the "adjust scope speed" option (or just do it when you get to whatever game's your favorite, I did it all at once so I didn't have to worry about it later). There you can manually adjust the zoomed scope movement -- which REALLY HELPS YOU AIM BETTER.It was very slow to aim at different targets while zoomed in with the scope.Don't look into the scope while you're trying to adjust the zoomed scope speed (under "scope zoom on" option) because that counts as pressing a button and will make you exit the adjusting screen.Instead, do exactly what it says, press "A" which is the trigger and then you'll be able to adjust the zoomed scope scrolling speed with the joypad to your left of your trigger hand.Keep adjusting it with the pad while you scrolling around and test the speed of the zoomed scope.

Note that if you didn't adjust your brightness properly, you probably won't see much improvement in adjusting your scope movement, since your base crosshair detection is already faulted. However, even at it's maximum speed, some gamers are bound to find the zoomed scope movement still too slow...Well, that's really a personal problem at that point, because the arcades didn't have lightning fast zoomed in scope either.Meaning, you should zoom out if you want to swing your crosshair across the screen AND THEN zoom in when you actually want to shoot something between its eyes.

Again, if you are playing House of the Dead III.There's absolutely nothing to worry about.Just plug the gun in (ignore all the attachments) and start calibrating it then play!

WEIGHT
Now with all the technical stuff outta the way (hope it helps)...The actual weight of the rifle gets cumbersome of you're holding it for long periods of time -- but that's just common sense.Besides, it was meant to be an arcade game, not an rpg with terrorists. It'd be nice to mimic the arcade and have your rifle propped up on something. This is assuming that you're playing Silent Scope Complete. If you're playing House of the Dead III, then you don't need ANY of the attachments.Without all of the extra parts, the gun is much lighter and easier to handle.PLUS, you CANNOT deny the coolness that is the pump-action reload built into the barrel of the gun.If anyone's played House of the Dead III in the arcades, then they know how cool it is to have light gun SHOTGUN for an accessory.Note that House of the Dead III features an inescapable auto-reload feature (meaning you can't turn it off). But still, what kinda fps gamer EVER waits to run out of ammo before reloading?(the auto-reload will kick in everytime you run out of ammo)

So there you go.My two cents on this whole thing. It's a good deal! You just need to make sure you know what you need to do before you can enjoy the product.Make sure you set yourself up for some simple fine-tuning and patient experimenting for a half an hour (that's how long it took me to fine tune everything, it may differ for you) or so.You might as well tweak it to your finest points, you paid for it!It'll give its love back to you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Hate it
This rifle is a joke. It has a amazing look-and-feel. I neverhesitated to buy it when I saw it. But when it is connected to xbox, it gave me horrible gaming experience. I hated it. Howcan they sell this kind of junk? I will cut all connected cables on it, and give it to my 3 yrs old nephew to play with, he may like to have a handsome gun.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible one
I was so happy to know it's on sale and bought one home to play my Silent Scope3
But the focus is jumping from point to point. It's really frustrated to use this rifle to
aim sharply at any emeny. It makes the game un-playable with this rifle. I have to
go back to use xbox controller in the end. The worst case is, they didn't let me
return it (even if I just bought it 5 hours ago) with everything looking like origal
packing. DO ensure seller allow to return if you are not satisfied before you buy.
Unless the 40 bucks cost like 40 cents for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's totally a waste
I really regreted not to read other reviews early.I paid $50 for it
yesterday with high expection. But it thoroughly disappointed me.
The scope movement is jerky, lots of time you can never focus on
your target. And you have to adjust your TV to very uncomfortable
brightness to make it work. It's much much worse than the original
controller of xbox. What a waste!!! I am going to return it today!
If they don't allow me to return, I will put it on ebay to sell to
anyone paying more than 10$. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Who cares about the game
This is one of the worst games ever released for xbox, but thats not the point, the point to buy this game is that its the only way to transfer music and videos to you xbox without hacking it. So this is definately a primo choice for only 9 bucks. So if you want to transfer files to your xbox this is your one and only choice w/ out voiding your warrenty. Definate a worthy buy.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a POS, do NOT waste your time
I was hoping to find a simple way to play mp3s across a network on the xbox. This product looked promising. I realized that it would not stream the music from a share but rather require importing, however I thought I would give it a try.

What a horrible, horrible product. I am giving it one star becauae it at least has potential.

Microsoft, listen up. This product sucks. Its interface is horrible, its too cludgy, doing simple things are not simple.

For instance, transfering songs onto the unit works with id3 tags. I hate this. Let it work with file names for frig sakes. I dont want to sort by album or genre, I want to be able to sort by folder!

Piece of crap. [...]

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid; Pricey and Disapointing
Terrible in almost every way. Not HD (as claimed), ugly UI, overpriced and poor quality karaoke tracks, difficult to use, and poorly integrated with existing Windows networks. This is a product that cries out for seamless integration with your home music library which the current Xbox deliberately avoids. The few karaoke tracks that are available are overpriced and not what anyone really wants to play with anyway.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not what you would think
All the negative reviews...shame too...this is a great product to have FUN with. It might not be a great microphone or have a lot of songs but it has everything you need and more to have a good time.

Let me explain...

The microphone is not that great but it is good considering the price. Your not buying it for the microphone. Good Microphones don't come cheap but for the price this one is good.

The software itself is pretty freaking cool. It doesn't have a lot of songs for karaoke but you can strip the background off of the cd's you do have...and you can run this program without the disc so you can change CD's randomly without having to reload the program.

You can always buy Karaoke CD's from Wal-Mart or here at Amazon.com and use with it...it is cheap to do it that way and you can build an AWESOME collection of Karaoke CD's to use with this or on another CD player.

I paid 19.99 for mine and let me say for the price you can't beat it. I love it. I have used it more in the last few days than most of my games for X-Box.

Don't listen to those negative reviews, I am a musician (singer) and have been for most of my life. I tell you this product is worth it!

2-0 out of 5 stars MP3 Importer Cloaked by Worthless Trash of a game.
My mother bought this for the family since it had to do with Karaoke and one could sing into a microphone and hear their voice out of the Television for all to admire or painfully listen through because they love you. And maybe do some of the many "options" available while you're at it. But the reason I liked this game is the option to import MP3's and WMA's onto the Xbox. Unfortunately, except for the importer, this game is a heedlessly made abnormality trying to make it on the karaoke scene. Be Warned: This game is NOTHING like the hit Karaoke Revolution on the PS2. In fact, it is not even close to it at all. Sadly, I am too late with this warning for consumers. So many of you are most likely disappointed with this game. But with the cheap genius that is Microsoft, they took out a page from a little game called Madden 2002. Where EA made very few changes to the game at all, yet they just put on the Madden trademark and they had turned trash into gold. Just substitute few changes to Windows-style eye candy and Madden trademark with an MP3 Importer, and you have a match made in heaven! And even worse than this is that people have bought this game and they will continue to buy this game only for the Importer. It is Sheer Madness!!!!

Pros: 1. The MP3 Importer (Finally fixes the infamous unreadable CD-RW problem on the Xbox)

2. Windows-Style Eye Candy (SO distracted)

Cons: 1. Windows-Style Eye Candy (SO hypnotizing)

2. Actual songs, but very cheesy versions of them (If we wanted this, we'd torture ourselves with Kidz Bop!!!)

3. Very Limited Video making capabilities.

4. Songs downloadable for $5 (like any poor sap would download them anyway?)

5. WIll cost more money for Peripherals for Importing (you first have to download the PC exporter off the internet (free), but the System link cable for connecting the two will cost you $30!)

6. And the worst sin of all for a Karaoke game: You can barely hear yourself out of the speakers!!!!!! Even with the mic set on the highest volume you still can barely hear yourself over the voices (hey, maybe they were saving the family members from certain torture) But as I said, Sheer Madness!!!!!

Final Verdict: The only reason you are ever going to come along this game in the future is for the MP3 importer and only for the MP3 Importer. This is NOT a party tool, that Abominaton that is named Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is a better party tool than this (Okay, maybe i'm stretching it way too far, let's just leave it at Halo) But yes, If you have MP3's and you want to put them on the Xbox, this is your only option (makes me sad to say that.) ... 5-0 out of 5 stars YOU DONT NEED THIS CABLE TO PLAY SYSTEM LINK
you honestly dont need this cable to play system link. All you need is a CROSSOVER rj-45 ethernet cable. I got mine today and I tried it out with my friends and it worked fine. You can find these cables a lot cheaper than the XBOX brand one. So again you just need to ger any regular Crossover cable and u cant use your regualr everyday ethernet cable because it won't work.

4-0 out of 5 stars kits sistem link cable reveiw
You're wating for Xbox live, what are you going to do in the mean time. You could just wait or you could get the system link cable. I know it's not as good as Xbox live but it's still similar. We have the over four-player-aspect. Also say you were playing two player slayer on Halo 2, you wouldn't have the advantege of looking on their half of the screen.

Yeh, that's all great but what about the downers. You have to both have a copy of the game, but that's not that bad. So all together it's not the best thing ever but it is recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just a over hyped cross-over cable.
This looks like a pre-packaged cross-over cable (will not work with some hubs or switches). Also if you want to use something like this instead of XBox live, see XBConnect.com.

1-0 out of 5 stars throwing your money away
a 5 minute class from a radioshack employee lets you make your own "cat5" cable which is what your xbox uses. Its basically a slightly larger phone line and plug. The trick is in knowing the correct colorcoded order of the eight wires protected within the outer insulation when fitting on the plug. You will need to buy a special crimping tool which should also be able to crimp phone lines not that you'll need it. Even with the tool, plugs, and cable you will pay less, especially if you plan to link more than two xboxs. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good to have
I got this on sale for $20, so obviously I was pleased... But I think it's worth even up to $35.At the VERY worst, if you're not satisfied, you can use it as your 3rd or 4th controller that you make your friend use when he comes over. It's definitely good enough for me.When I'm not playing online, I tend not to use it... but I never use anything else when I am online.

Pros:
-Yeah, the headset is cheap, but it's more than sufficient.I haven't had trouble hearing or being heard; the clarity is fine.My only problem with it is that it's not as comfortable as others, but it's not uncomfortable either.
-It has volume control right next to the R trigger, so you can adjust it with minimal effort (believe me: that's a good thing when you're listening to an excited 8-year-old).
-It has an on/off button for the mic right next to the L trigger, so if you want to yell at your roommate to answer the phone in midgame, you don't have to bring your hand up your ear like with some more expensive headsets.
-No need to recharge the batteries like some headsets.
-Controller works just fine.No "kricks and kreeks" like one reviewer said, and no "painful knuckles" either (and I play Halo 2 for hours at a time). The vibration doesn't rattle, and the controller is just sturdy overall. However, the analog sticks may not be quite as sensitive as the one that came with the Xbox, definitely not as sensitive as my touchy Madcatz. But, that's not such a bad thing; I just turn up the sensitivity settings.

Cons:
-It's ugly.
-The controller isn't the most comfortable. It took a tiny bit of getting used to, but that's partially because I was used to my Madcatz. It has rubber grips?I didn't even realize it until I read the J&R product description above.
-Not for the kind of gamer who has enough $$ to spend for optimal comfort.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Controller, Cheap Headset
I was shopping for a XBox Live Communicator (You know, that chip with the basic headset that lets u talk 2 peeps on live) and i stumbled accross this. I was like tight! And it was only $30! (It was on sale) it has a built in communicator! But, i found that the cheap "Superior Quality" headset didn't produce noise, but it had good reception.
I think that if you can get this for less than $40 it's a good deal, because that's the price of a controller. BUt, i'd advise you to purchase the plantronics X10 or X20 with this, because they are good headsets and this is a cheap controller

3-0 out of 5 stars Average Controller.
I used this Gamester Phoenix controller for a week and then got rid of it. The shape of the two "handles" make for painful knuckles after an hour. The whole controller "kricks and kreeks", making it seem like it was always on the verge of snapping in two. The analog sticks did not seem as sensitive as the Microsoft Controller S. The Phoenix seems to be average for an aftermarket controller, but I recommend that you spend the extra bucks and get only the stock Microsoft Controller S. It is not of higher cost for no reason. It is built better than most aftermarket controllers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Logitech speed Force Wheel
I purchased 2 for my son and husband. Both rumble and work perfectly with the racing games such as Need for Speed Underground 2, Nascar 2003 and 2004. Some of the early games cannot be used, but they still love it. The wheels actually feel like you are in a race car with realistic resistance. I recommend this item.

1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy 2 of these!!
I bought 2 for 2 to race, but only one 'rumbles". I have called Logitech tech support and they said, "oh,well, that's the way it was designed". Nowhere on the box or the instructions does it say that and it is very illogical. I will not buy Logitech gaming products again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best wheel I ever owned!!
This wheel is an unbelievable product and value, not just for the price but at any price. Thats the bottom line.

If you have Nascar Thunder '03 or any other racing game for the cube, you must get this wheel! I was skeptical at first because every console wheel I have ever owned was useless. This wheel does not just rumble it actually has force feedback, meaning the wheel pulls back to center and against you just as if you were in a real car. In Nascar Thinder '03, if you set the car up loose the wheel will be loose. If you change the wedge to tighten up the car during a pit stop, the wheel will tighten up as well. If you are in career mode and your chasis is in bad condition, the wheel center position will shift and will make it harder to steer properly.

It has all of the buttons on the wheel that the standard controller has minus the C-stick and analog stick (you dont need them). While the pedals are not necessary, I reccomend them because they provide a better overall experience. The wheel improved my performance on the track vs. a controller by 3 or 4 seconds on each lap.

The wheel is well constructed and surpassed all my expectations. Same for the pedals. Logitech has a great quality product that is OFFICIALLY licensed by Nintendo (the only wheel to be so) and works great. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't get this peice of crap!!
Seriously, do not get this...i have not bought this game case personally but i have bought 3 others as they have come out and i can tell just by looking at this one that it sucks...
First I got the G-Pak and it was really good, served my purposes as a newbie gamer. But eventually it just wasn't enough...and thats when i got my Xbox Aluminum Case:

[...]

And it is the best game case i could imageing...i can fit almost everythign in there...i actually have pictures...but ill maybe put them up later on its review...I can fit 2 controllers, 1 wirelsess controller and reciever, a short RF cord (the thing that hooks your tv to an antenae) and a long thick one, my xbox cords, a surge strip, a 6-8ft 13(somethings, i dont remember the term, in other words a thick extention cord), my xbox or coarse, my dvd kit, batteries, a memory card (room for another, but i have 2 RF adapters there instead), a 24/36 cd case for all my games, a normal extention cord, and an RF modulator/ 5 slot RCA (and S Video) switchover [you can plug all you systems into it and press a button 1-5 on the front to select one). I can also fit an Xbox screen if i took out one or both of the foam pads around my xbox...
Even with all of this stuff in it i can still fit more little things, and if it took out the foam pads out of the rectangles, then i could fit even more...I appologise for the sloppyness of my review, but i had to type it fast...

5-0 out of 5 stars HAVE BOX WILL TRAVEL
I dig this carrying case. Despite some of the other reviews I find can fit everything I need into this puppy. The system, all my cables (including the system link cable) as well as 4 controllers (one of which is the original HUGE controller). followed up by 3-4 games and magazines or strategy guides. I take my Xbox over to friends houses and on vacations. The straps are sturdy and durable. I could call them confortable but it's hard to call any strap comfortable when you've got pounds of equipment slung over your shoulder. But like I said, I dig this case and use it regularly.

2-0 out of 5 stars Get a computer case instead!
I don't actually have this, but one of my friends does. It's actually quite funny watching him carry the case while fumbling with the two other controllers that don't fit inside.Honestly, how many people take their xbox somewhere with only two controllers. If I'm going through the hassle of disconnecting my system from behind the entertainment center, and take it somewhere else, there'd better be at least 8 people there.I personally use my dad's old laptop case, it holds the system, four controllers(controller-s... ie. the smaller, less clumsy controllers), my cables... if I want I can put some magazines in there, and games... well a couple of games, but let's face it, I'm going to be playing Halo and it's not like I take it out of the DVD drive. In short, it will work for some, but you can find a better, bigger case made for something like a laptop and it will have all of the padding and separate compartments, etc.Only 2 months 1 day until I get my pre-ordered copy of Halo 2!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A good solution to lugging your XBox around
The carring case is very conveinient for taking my Xbox places. The case is just the right size that it will hold everying I need when packed right(xbox + wires, 2 s-controllers, 9 xbox games w/ cases and a dvd playback kit) yet everything will fit nice and snug so things won't move around. Also the colour and design match the Xbox nicely. The straps and handle are sturdy and comfortabe. The carring case is well padded so there is no worrys there. The downside is that the case is a little pricy though. Altoger I like everything about it ecept its price.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is ok
It would be nice if I had my case. I ordered it on June 7 and it hasnt even been shipped and it's now June 21. How much longer do I have to wait to get this. If your the person who i bought this from email me a.s.a.p. at grenshaw07@aol.com thank you ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Take the power and flexibility of a dedicated computer gaming system and combine it with the easy-to-use, instant-on format of a high-end console system and what do you get? Well, if you also add in DVD playback ability and broadband Internet connectivity, you get Xbox.

The advanced components inside Xbox make it the undisputed powerhouse among current game consoles. A 733 MHz Intel main processor and 233 MHz graphics processor from industry leader nVidia deliver photorealistic graphics in real time. A cavernous hard drive stores saved games and characters, making flimsy memory sticks obsolete. The built-in Ethernet port enables super-fast multiplayer online gaming over a broadband Internet connection. Four game controller ports allow you and three of your buddies to play at the same time, or you can use them for other peripherals such as gamepads, light guns, and who knows what else?

But Xbox has more going for it than fancy innards. The Xbox's Windows-based operating system is a breeze to program on, earning it grateful accolades from Electronic Arts, Infogrames, THQ, and other game producers. The less time developers spend struggling with the operating system means the more time they spend tweaking gameplay, which ultimately results in better games. And games are what it's all about.

Well, games and the fun of owning a green-glowing game console that looks like it came from Darth Vader's living room. --Mike Fehlauer

The Xbox Holiday Bundle includes the Xbox console, the popular "S" style Microsoft controller, the games Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Tetris Worlds Online, a two-month trial subscription to the Xbox Live service, and all necessary cables to connect your Xbox to your TV. A DVD kit (sold separately) is required to access DVD playback ability. Xbox Live requires a broadband Internet connection and an Ethernet cable to connect your Xbox to your cable or DSL modem (sold separately).

1-0 out of 5 stars Need help with my XBOX
I got my XBOX In Feb 04, its May 04, and already it will not read my games, none of the 10 new games I got for it, or any of the DVDs.Where can I send this or get parts for it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent System, but not without its flaws.
The Xbox is an excellent system for any gamer. The graphics are amazing, the sounds is killer and {most} of the games are excellent. Unfortunately, just like the PS2 and Gamecube, the Xbox is not without its faults.
Good:

Amazingly detailed graphics
Capable of incredible sound effects
Can play CDs and DVDs (not without a remote though)
4 Controller Ports
Good variety of Games
Well Supported by 3rd party developers
Some excellent exclusive games (Halo, Project Gotham 2, Halo 2)
150 dollar price point is 30 dollars less than PS2 (but still 50 dollars more than Gamecube)
Best Online Service (Xbox Live!)

The Bad

System weighs a lot-don't expecting anything you can bring on vacation
System is ugly-basically a big, clunky box
Lack of RPGS (save Knights of the Old Republic)
Lack of quirky (strange Japanese/Anime/just plain weird) games such as Mister Mosquito and Animal Crossing.
Lack of "kiddie" games- Xbox is geared toward the 15+ crowd
EA Sports games are not online compatible (the PS2 versions are though)

Overall the Xbox is an excellent system choice for gamers who love action/shooter/online games. The Xbox excels in these areas;in fact it blows the competition out of the water. But, due to the lack of games in certain genres, I have to knock the score down a star. That being said, if you are looking for a graphics powerhouse that is home to the best online games (Mech Assault, Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell Pandora's Tommorow) and the best action games (Halo, Halo 2, Brute Force, Deus Ex 2), then you should purchase an Xbox as soon as possible.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great graphics, but some problems
The Xbox is a great system. It pumps out top notch graphics and has some killer exclusives. Unfortunately, it is not perfect, just like the other 2 next gen systems out.
Pros:

Amazing Graphics (The Xbox's graphics are much better than either Gamecubes' or Ps2's)
Built in 8 GB Hard Drive
Best online service (Xbox Live)
Halo, Halo 2, Project Gotham Racing 2- some of the best games ever
The Controller S is comfortable
Good third party support

Cons:

The system is massive and weighs around 10-12 pounds
Have to buy a remote for 30 dollars to play DVDs
Basically No Rpgs for the system (Except the excellent Star Wars: Knights of the old republic)
Not many niche games (quirky games a la Pa Rappaa or Mr Mosquito for PS2 are absent on the Xbox)

Overall, the XBox is a graphics and sound powerhouse that has a very bright future. Unfortuantely, its lack of RPGs and niche games force me to knock down the score a star. Still an excellent choice for any gamer

2-0 out of 5 stars RPG geeks should avoid this like the plague
Lately I've noticed an emerging sense of "Xbox elitism" among male gamers. Walk into your local EB Games and inquire innocently about what console you should purchase, and chances are the entire staff will try to push the Xbox on you, regardless of what type of game you enjoy playing. My friend, a former EB employee, tells me of people who've traded in their PS2 for an Xbox on this advice, only to stupidly ask afterward, "So, I can still get Final Fantasy for the Xbox, right?"

I'll warn you here and now: If you're an RPG geek, DO NOT buy an Xbox. It has absolutely nothing to offer in the way of roleplaying games. And no, there isn't a chance we'll see FFXII on the Xbox. Sony might throw Nintendo a bone with Crystal Chronicles, but they'll never share FF with the American devil Microsoft.

The Xbox is a fine system...for my little brother, who worships Halo and any other game where he can 'blow things up real good'. The selection of games isn't very diverse at all--more so than the kid-oriented Gamecube repetoire, but not nearly as much as the PS2. Xbox may be newer and have better graphics, but I'd rather just be able to play the games I like. Also, that controller's as ungainly as all get out. And there's no way I can justify buying an expensive add-on for the right to play DVDs, when the cheaper PS2 requires no such thing.

So, if you stick mostly to RPGs, stick to the PS2. Perhaps someday Xbox will offer more in that area, but I'm not holding my breath.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Console out there
Recently got the Xbox for christmas, and it has provided hours of fun.I have had the chance to use the gamecube, ps2 also, and easily concluded that it is the best.Just look at the processor speed, the graphics card speed, and you can see that it is superior.Nothing, I mean nothing can compete with xbox live either.Oh sure, you can say, "Ps2 has a built in dvd player, while you have to pay 30$ for an xbox dvd kit"Yet, the xbox has a built in online port while you have to pay 40$ for an adapter for the ps2.Did I mention the xbox had a built in hardrive? You have to buy memory cards for ps2 to save your progress.Ps2 fans can also say "But ps2 has a far larger selection of games"That is true, but, really any good game made for ps2 is also made for xbox.(etc, GTA 3, which the xbox version is better)While the xbox has exclusive titles including HALO!Best game hands down. With soon to come HALO 2, and fable. Not to mention high quality only xbox games like PGR2, and others.Cleary, the xbox is the best buy. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not the best
This racing wheel isnt that great. It pauses the game when you use it for no reason. it doesnt take good turns, and the wheel lap things come out easily so you have to pause the game, fix it, and unpause it. It is definetly not worth 50 dollars, maybe just 10 dollars.

4-0 out of 5 stars You *can* adjust sensitivity
I was worried about this wheel, but it turned out to be really great, esp. for the price, once I got used to it. Most importantly, if you read the instruction manual you find that you can adjust the sensitivity, which solves the problem of what feels like a very big dead zone otherwise. The dead zone is in fact not big, but the default setting for sensitivity makes it feel that way. In fact, you can make the wheel so sensitive that you find yourself dialing it back.

I highly recommend this wheel for the casual racing game enthusiast. I've tried it so far on PGR2, RSC, and (oh the shame!) The Simpsons' Road Rage, a pretty bad game that becomes mildly amusing with this wheel :-).

4-0 out of 5 stars Cheap racing wheel for the Xbox
I found this at Best Buy for $29, and for this price, it's a steal.Indeed, you cannot calibrate the wheel, which may present some problems with some games. But with Burnout 3: Takedown, this wheel works perfectly. In fact it's as if it were calibrated for that game!It also works with Rallisport Challenge and Project Gotham Racing, but not as smoothly as with Burnout 3.My previous wheel was a Logitech for the PC and it used clamps to lock on the desk, which destroyed my nice desk. This one uses suction cups, which is better as long as you remember to reinforce the suction (by pressing down) every few minutes. The pedals work fine, too.

Overall I'm pretty happy with this cheap but fun accessory for my Xbox.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dead Zone too big - no calibration.
The hardware is nice - foam steering wheel with good feel.

Usability - that's another thing. The dead zone in the middle of this wheel is too big to control the car.I played Project Gotham 2 with this and had a very difficult time controlling the car through turns.I switched back to the analog controller and had much better results.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to calibrate this wheel.Given that, I would not recommend this wheel.

If I missed something, I am interested in how to configure but so far, I don't see anything that gives me an indication that this is a possibility. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good product
The only problem I had with this product is that because my reciever only has one optical input and one coaxial input it meant robbing my dedicated dvd player of it's precious optical input. The xbox sounded very good playing games, but suddenly movies lost their impact. So unfortunatly I disconnected the xbox's optical output and reconnected it to the dvd player since it plays movies much clearer. The xbox is now connected via standered stereo plugs, on my reciever I merly put the xbox on dolby pro logic and the surround experiance was still very good. For a short while though the sound was very good,if you have a spare optical output this is the goods of xbox. And if some of you are wondering why I didn't get the high definition pack it's because my flat screen tv only has one component video reserved for the dvd player.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth its weight in gold
If you want a digital audio conection with or without the S-video hookup, this is the product to purchase.Don't worry about the monster cable connections. It really won't provide you with the sound quality that the offical X-box digital AV pack audio connection would provide. With the Advance AV pack, the optical or coax cable can plug directly into the connector without the purchase of any other equipment. It's nice and it's not expensive.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product, but needs a digital coaxial output
I wanted to utilize the surround sound out of my computer speakers for xbox, but obviously a the subwoofer doesn't have analog audio inputs. It does, however, have a coaxial input. I thought about buying monstor composite cables and the optical audio adapter, but it would cost too much money. All I just simply bought the advanced AV pack, and a cheap optical audio cable. Then, I bout an optical audio to digital coaxial converter at [website], and a digital coaxial cable. It successfully gets the surround sound out of my xbox, which is AWESOME.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't find info on this? Here it is...
I scoured the Web to find info on the Advanced AV Pack with no luck.I called several stores, got a different answer from each one, all of which turned out to be wrong. So here's the real scoop: The Advanced AV Pack has an S-Video output, a standard RCA-type analog video output, RCA-type analog left and right audio outputs, and an optical audio output. An S-Video cable is included. My TV doesn't have S-Video; I bought it purely for the Dolby Digital 5.1 output, which is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!It's definitely worth it for the digital surround sound alone!Remember, for Dolby Digital sound you'll need a Toslink optical cable, and an Xbox game (like Ghost Recon) that supports Dolby Digital.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does the trick, but...
If you want DTS sound, you are forced to use an optical cable.A ditigal coax option would be nice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Way better then the "S" Controller
I started using this kind of controller at my friends house when I was 12. It fit perfectly and I have relativly small hands. I hate the new controller because they moved some of the buttons and i have had a hard time finding the original. Hopefully Microsoft will continue to make the original because it is way better!

5-0 out of 5 stars better controller
i personally prefer the big bulky controller for the big bulky x box system becsuse that is what it is. this is a mature teen- adult gaming system so little kids shouldnt even be able to play this system (violent x box games) at all anywayz. i honestly feel more comfortable having some space for mny fingers instead of being crunched up in the little gamecube controllers. maybe its bevcause i was born to have big hands so i like big controlelrs but w/e

4-0 out of 5 stars I thought that they didnt sell these anymore
I used to think that they didnt sell these kind of Xbox controllers anymore.I hate using those small controllers. These big ones actually are more comfortable and my hands are puny.

1-0 out of 5 stars P.O.S.
I bought two controllers with my Xbox a little over a year ago and they are both done. One of them doesn't respond (cord is broken) and on the other one the joystick is broken and doesn't move correctly.I called Microsoft support and all they could tell me was go out and buy another controller (great, blow another thirty dollars on Microsoft).

I've experienced way too many problems with Xbox in addition to my controllers.I'd recommend anyone to get Gamecube or PS2.

1-0 out of 5 stars They messed up my order
I specifically ordered the original Xbox controllers (like someone else who sent in a review) but I was sent 4 small, turbo controllers. I am hoping that they will replace these turbo controllers with the ones that I want and pay for the shipping because it was clearly their mistake. ... Read more

For ease of reading, I'll be concise. I personally like this wheel quite a bit, but it did take some getting used to. The most obvious first thing is the feedback of the wheel. Rather than use an auto-centering device, this wheel has resistance, much like a small car with no power steering. It can seem stiff at first, but seems to loosen up a bit after some use. It's a little different approach than many others take, but actually works well once you get the hang of it. The wireless is stable, but I did get interference at one point (which I actually found hilarious...just the one time was not enough for it to become a nuisance). Ergonomically, the wheel itself feels good, with very aggressive suction mounting for tabletop use and a decent enough set of dimensions for laptop use. Only gripe here is that the torque to operate the wheel is enough to knock it off my lap when using one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter. Tabletop is much nicer. Speaking of the shifter, a seperate unit or moving it back and to the right a bit would help realism immensly. It's a touch awkward, and for that matter, could use a little more resistance. Now for the pedals. As far as feel goes, they could be a touch larger and further apart. When is someone(to my knowledge, nobody has addressed this) going to have an appropriate resistance built into the brake pedals? This has plagued every racing wheel I have encountered. Also, it took me awhile to figure out that the pedals should not be touched when turning on the wheel AND the xbox. It got to the point that I had to email pelican support to see if there was a problem with the throttle pedal potentiometer or the mechanical portion of the control (everything checked out after some thorough testing of pedal travel, voltage sweep, etc. Yes I went through this much trouble). After getting the startup procedure down and getting comfortable with the controller itself, I was able to match at very least and for the most part exceed my performances in my collection of racing games of the xbox. Now that the meat and potatoes is served, here comes the dessert. This thing is pretty nifty in the sense of bells and whistles. For instance, being wireless, it runs on batteries (not included). So instead of the usual low battery light they incorporated a small 'fuel' gauge into the control. Nifty. The control itself has a fixed button map, but with the exception of the right analog stick everything is present and in useful positions. For the record, as well, the button map basically mimics most default controller settings, and usually only minor tweaks are necessary. One thing they threw into the mix that is actually very helpful is the inclusion of a left analog stick in the frame of the steering wheel. This can be used back and forth with the wheel (they both do the same job), but not at the same time, thanks to an internal software delay that detects the switch from stick to wheel and vice versa. Due to this the D-pad is located down on the base, as it is rarely needed anyway. Construction is sound, which I can say comfortably as I have already opened the unit to investigate the possibility of adding springs to the shifter and pedals (looks very possible, by the way). Overall I am very happy with this product, although the learning curve to get the most out of it might be a bit much for people with short attention spans, which basically means that younger players may not have a very good time with this one. Overall I am happy with my purchase, as I have been with other products from pelican. So much for being concise. ... Read more
