SNES is one of the most innvoative consoles of its time.Gone were the days of pixilated sprites and linear backrounds.Heck, this system even pushed some polygons by the end of its life (Starfox and Stunt Race).Get this system...

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the TOP TEN reasons to own an SNES
Please note: this review refers to the Super Mario All-Stars cartridge that includes Super Mario World. Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World is one of the best game cartridges that you could possibly own for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is one of the best compilations ever created and it is also one of the only reasons why I still consider the Super Nintendo Entertainment System the SECOND best gaming system on this planet (assuming you lack an N64 Tri-star converter). The five games on this cartridge are as follows: Super Mario Bros. 1, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World. Other than the fact that this version of the original Super Mario Bros. allows you to score extra points after each individual Bowser battle in the big castles at the end of each world, the Super Mario Bros. trilogy is exactly the same as it was on the NES, except the graphics, music, and sound have all been updated significantly in order to showcase the power of the SNES (as if the games didn't look and sound pretty enough). There's also the difference of being able to save your progress in the games, which is not particularly necessary if you already know the locations of each warp zone in each game. Furthermore, you can only save after each WORLD, and not each LEVEL (unlike the GBA versions), which somewhat defeats the purpose of having save capabilities in the first place. Super Mario World, however, is exactly the same as it is on the SMW-only cartridge, except for the fact that the Game Genie codes only work on the SMW-only cartridge, which is somewhat of a letdown. Another difference which is also somewhat problematic is that in the original Super Mario Bros., the fireballs in the castle levels jump up and down twice as fast as they did in the NES version, making you twice as likely to get touched by one and lose health. Of course, little things like these are minor and really don't bear much of any influence on gameplay experience. Unfortunately, however, there is one very damaging flaw somewhere in the cartridge that separates it from perfect five-star status from me.

For some reason or another, usually always after I've completed or come close to completing all five games, all the saved game data automatically deletes itself. All the saved game data from all five games will somehow erase itself. You don't even have to "tell" it to do this, it'll just do it for you, and for no particularly good reason at all. For instance, you can be on World A-1 in Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels, remove the cartridge, play another game, and then re-insert that cartridge, and discover that all you data is gone. Now, it's possible that I may have just gotten a bad copy, but if you ask me, problems like these are just outright unforgivable, and they suck the satisfaction right out of a meaningful and fulfulling gameplay experience in making you start all over again. It's a crying shame that problems like these even exist! On a more positive note, however, all the games (excluding Super Mario World) are compatible with the game genie, which I own, so I can remedy this problem a little bit by making the playable character invincible in those games thus getting them completed twice as fast, but to put it bluntly, I really shouldn't have to do that. So, therefore, instead of a perfect 10 score, which this game would get from KAB had this flaw been nonexistent, it loses one whole point, thus reducing it to a score of 9, and therefore only a four-star rating.

    The KAB ratings -

    Fun Factor: 10
    Replay Value: 10
    Graphics: 10
    Sound: 10
    Gameplay: 10

Overall Evaluation: 10 - (1.0) = 9.0 Excellent. (one whole point subtracted for egregious technical flaw)

5-0 out of 5 stars This is gaming at its finest.
I have the version of this that includes Super Mario World, but I won't review it here. Anyway, onto the review.......

Super Mario Bros: This game didn't start Mario's career, but it sure did jump start it. This game has 32 levels, with 8 chapters, 4 stages each. It's the NES SMB you remember, but with updated graphics and audio that are still the reminiscent to the NES version, but are a lot better. This game needed the 16-bit update more than any other title on this cartridge.
    Overall Score: 10

Super Mario Bros.-The Lost Levels: The 1986 Japanese sequel to Super Mario Bros, this game has 32 new levels, Luigi as a playable character, and a difficulty level that only the most the hardcore old-school Mario fans can beat (I have beaten every game on this cartridge except this one!). The graphical and audio improvements are the same as what the original got. Difficult, but if you claim to be a Mario dominator, give this one a shot.
    Overall Score: 9.5

Super Mario Bros. 2: This is an odd one. This game is actually a port of a Japanese game called "Doki Doki Panic", but with a Mario flair. You get to play as either Mario, Luigi, Toad, or Princess Toadstool (or Peach, or whatever), and you are trapped in a dream land, trying to stop this Wart guy and his minions, or something like that. This game doesn't really feel like the Mario that you're used to, and the ending is rather disappointing, but this is still a fine entry in the Mario series. And, of course, this game needed an upgrade as well, with, once again, the graphical and audio improvements keeping the game's spirit alive while being superior to the NES game.
    Overall Score: 9.5

Super Mario Bros. 3: My favorite NES game, Super Mario Bros. 3 is made even better in this Super NES remake. I simply don't know why I like this entry more than the other NES Mario games. More gameplay options, maybe? More levels? It's the best game in the All-Stars half of this cartridge, that's for sure. And, of course, the improvements are true to the original, while keeping the game fresh and unique.
    Overall Score: 10

ottom Line: Grab this now, and if you don't have Super Mario World, there's a version of this that includes it. There's a lot of classic memories and years of replay value contained on this cartridge. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Mario 1, 2, 3 and Lost Levels on one cartridge!!!!
This was the game to get on the SNES for Mario Fans. I do preffer Mario World over this, but this classic revived the previous 3 versions of the SMB's on the NES, bringing them new and fresh to the SNES.

The graphics are not the same as the NES versions. There was all new graphics and a few options, you could save from place to place and it wa smuch easier then the old NES versions. It worked very nicely. And the lost levels is actualy the original Maro Bros. 2 Game that WAS released in Japan with that title, but Nintendo USA decided to go with a different layout for there part 2. But it's here now and called the lost levels.

The original Mario bros 1, 2 & 3 and the SNES MW4 have all been revived on the Gameboy Advance with the original style of graphics, they are new and improved. I'd like to see all these versions put onto the one release of a system one day. You cant beat the classic Mario Bros games 1 to 4 and Mario Karts!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Major disapointment
I have been playing this Game for 12 years now and I think this one sucks. I mean for Super Mario Bros/Lost Levels, The graphics are bad. The Sound is like the same sounds that was used in Super Mario World. for Super Mario Bros 2, This is one of the worst Games ever and I can't stand that Sh.... Music. Now I don't have a problem with Super Mario Bros 3 but like what I said at the beginning of this review like the sounds and all I would just prefer the Game Boy Version because The super nes is old.

5-0 out of 5 stars 4 Mario games in one! Mama-mia!
Super Mario All-Stars has 4 great NES Mario games, along with enhanced graphics, sound, music, and an added save feature! The games are:

Super Mario Bros: The one that started it all! This game is just plain fun!

Super Mario Bros. 2: Japan didn't want to release the real Mario 2 in America, because they thought it would be too hard for us! So they put a Japan-only game named, "Doki Doki Panic" and added Mario characters to it. Although it's the oddball of the series, it is pretty fun!

Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels: The REAL SMB2. This game is HARD! It's like SMB with some neat twists! You can be Mario or Luigi. Mario has medicore jumping power, but great traction. Luigi has great jumping power, but mediocre traction.

Super Mario Bros 3: Although not my favorite Mario game, [I prefer SMW] this is the best of the four. Mario has some cool powerups, tons of levels, and new challanges!

Got an SNES? Then get this!

4-0 out of 5 stars My review of a controller.
This, my friends, is a controller.

It has buttons, which if you apply pressure to using your fingers, it will cause characters on the screens to do such things as jump, kick, punch, or shoot any number of weapons.

There's a cross on it that symbolizes the sacrifice and passion that went into making this controller. That and movement for the character on screen.

There's a start button. That begins the game or pauses the action, so that the player may re-evaluate his gaming strategy. Next to it is ally and colleague "Select" which performs it's namesake - selecting positive items of interest.

There are also, on the top, "L" and "R" buttons on the top - L meaning "left" and R meaning "right." Their possibilities are endless, from moving a character to performing moves.

A classic controller. The only bad thing is sometimes my fingers hurt A LOT after button smashing on this thing. Owie...

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Controller
The official SNES controller is one of the best ever. The button layout is perfect for any type of game. The controller easily fits into any size hands. They are super durable. The D-Pad is very comfortable and easy to use. Heck, the start and select buttons are even easy to reach. This controller is absolutely perfect and a must have for your SNES system. Make sure you buy two of them so you can play with your friends.
Oh and one more thing: make sure you get the real Nintendo made controller. Don't buy those cheaper "new" third party look a like controllers. They stink.

5-0 out of 5 stars Only the NES has a more durable controller...
(Gamer since the glory days of MULE on the Commodore 64 and Space Invaders on the Atari 2600...)

Not since the glory days of my incessant SuperNES gaming have I owned a controller that I could throw into walls, concrete blocks, and run over with my car (don't look so suprised, the Street Fighter II series instilled that kind of rage in all of us!) and still have the controller work as well as it did when I took it out of the box!I bought my first SuperNES system when it first came out in 1990, and I've put countless hours of use and abuse into the original controllers that came with it.13 years later, they still work... OK.Of course, they're certainly not in as top form as they once were, but I chalk that up to not taking care of those controllers as well as I take care of my PS2 ones (well, now, Tekken Tag taught me how fragile THOSE controllers are, heh!).If I had, I bet they would still be in excellent working order instead of just fair.

I've owned a couple of off-brand controllers with various functions and whatnot, and they just don't stand up to the durability or have the comfort of the original controller. In fact, the SuperNES controller is THE most comfortable controller I have ever used on ANY system EVER (and I've played games on just about every console ever released). The PS1 controller is the only other controller that comes close.

About the only complaint I have is the short cord length (of course), but then, if ANY game system controller were made as long as they should, the companies wouldn't make near the money from extension cord sales...

If you're going to play retro, make sure you go with the original.Speaking of which, it's high time I revisit the mystical kingdom of Zeal... ta ta!

5-0 out of 5 stars A review for a video game system controller?
This is the standard controller made by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES).This was the first controller made by a video game system manufacturing company (Nintendo & Sega, at the time) to have buttons on the sides of the controller where you usually put your index fingers (the L and R buttons).

Not much to say about a video game controller manufactured by the company that made the system in which the controller is used for.But I can say this:You are going to need some if you want to play video games for the SNES and if you do not trust off brand products.

5-0 out of 5 stars solid control
I resently bought a controller for my old SNES because I broke my original one.In nearly 10 years of abuse my original controllers still worked.I threw them down on the ground, stepped on them, and even had the family pet chew on the wire. They survived all of that abuse, and still worked. The reason the one controler broke is because I slammed it on the ground, and it broke into a dozen pieces.Even still, it kinda worked.Obviously your not going to abuse your controllers like I did. But, it's good to know that you don't have to baby them.Treat them nicer than I did, and they will last a lifetime.Mine almost did. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Great accessory... for cheaters
The Galoob corporation, best known for being the producer of Micro Machines, decided to try its hand at something a little different in the nineties - video game enhancers. What they came up with was an accessory called the Game Genie, which allowed gamers to enter codes for different abilities in games. One of the systems that saw the release of this enhancer was the Super Nintendo. Read on for my review of this accessory.

    PROS:
-The accessory easily fits into your gaming console, and your game easily fits into the top of the accessory.
-Just about every Super Nintendo game out there has some codes.
-You can have up to five codes entered at once.
-If you're having trouble in a game, more than likely there is a code that will get you around it.
-Since the unit is no longer being produced, you can snatch one up for a good price.

    CONS:
-As another reviewer stated, this doesn't work with the newer, smaller Super Nintendo gaming consoles.
-You can ONLY have five codes entered at once.
-Some codes actually require more than one code to be entered, limiting the unit's effectiveness.
-The unit can cause unnecessary glitching in your games (fortunately this is very rare.)

    OVERALL:
If you've got a Super Nintendo and you absolutely have to cheat at a game, you may as well cheat using the most trusted name in game enhancers! Pay a visit to your local used games shop, and they'll probably have some of these; they aren't that tough to find.

5-0 out of 5 stars must have
it is a must have if you like to cheat at games a lot

5-0 out of 5 stars Does Not Work on the Smaller Snes units
This is a really cool device to gain an advantage for a bunch of old but awesome snes games. Unfortunately Nintendo put a lockout chip in the last version of the Snes they released ( the smaller one with a push button reset switch )( It works on just about all of the older units with two large purple slider barswitches )
[web page] has a bunch of codes for just about any game you can think of, it also loads quick and has very little advertising.

Enjoy beating the **** out of all the games that used to be soo tough. There's even a code to beat all the Bosses in Chrono Trigger with one hit!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great as the next cheat thingie
This is one of the oldest cheat thingies that I know of! Even though you may not have one of the systems ( SNES,Sega,Etc...) It's can really help your friend or cousin that still holds on to their old systems out of really tight spots! They could even give you something in return! Anyways, one of the main reasons to get this old cheat thingies is that it's almost just like gameshark! It can give you unlimited lives, unlimited sheilding, invicibility, etc. but you can have a great time trying to beat a really old (but really good!) game that is really hard! ... Read more

Be careful when buying this product. Most SNES need a dc 10v adapter, and the one i bought about a week ago doesnt work because it is only a 9v.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ac Adapter
This adapter is great! You get to play all your classic heros. Without this you could not play the Super Nintedo. It is a shame they do not sell them in stores anymore. Now in are days you have to order them off the internet. The super nintendo is one of the first game systems, but the adapter looks like our day adapter. 5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing beats Yoshi's Island!
I practically play this every day and i still havent gotten tired yet! nothing can beat this game... this is the best game ive reviewed!

5-0 out of 5 stars An SNES masterpiece!
This game is so fun and addicting!

Graphics: 10/10: Pure eye candy. Beautiful sprites and backgrounds. Very colorful. Really good for a 1995 game!

Sound effects: 9/10: Great sounds, "[Slurp]" "[Wah]!" "Oh(...)oh(...)"Although Mario's crying gets annoying sometimes...

Music: Catchy, especially boss the final boss music. 10/10

Gameplay: 10/10 kinda like SMW...only you play as Yoshi with babyMario on his back. You can shoot eggs, eat baddies, shoot seeds, fight bosses, and don't lose Mario. Also, find items in levels to unlock secrets and bonuses. It's very addicting.

Diffulcity: Medium. This game can get tough at times *coughcoughVERYLO(...)NG(...)CAVEcoughcough*

Replay value: 10/10 I've owned this game for many, many years, and I still pop this game in from time to time.

Buy/rent? - Well, you can't rent SNES games anymore, so buy it if possible. If you don't havean SNES or you can't find it, you can now buy Super Mario Advance 3 for GBA. It contains YI.

Conclusion-This is a great game. A little underrated.

PS. Why is Amazon editing my review? Stop editing it! Anything in ( ) means Amazon edited it.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE GREATEST SNES GAME EVER CREATED!!!
Yoshis Island ruled! When this game first came out I went and baught it!God it braught back some awesome memory...You play as yoshi and have baby mario on your back..I won't tell you the rest of it since you can just read other reviewers.

This game is friken awesome and fun as hell. The game is not a tad bit boring and the game is quiet long, well I can't remember since I played the game about what 8 years ago and I'm trying to find a SNES system for like NOW since my SNES broke down er' just Broke awhile ago but I happend to borrow a friends SNES and this game friken rocks the house man!

The game play is extreamly fun and the characters are great...ESPECCIALLY BABY MARIO!HE RULES!

Over all I would give this SNES Masterpiece 10/10...Or 5/5 in amazons review...

GO OUT AND BUY THIS INCREDIBLE GAME!...Besides Super Metroid.....If you can find it...

    Later..

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best SNES games ever
Many of you are familiar with the first ever Mario game on Nintendo and Super Mario World on Super Nintendo. For those of you who have never played Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, you definitely should. Nintendo changed this game a lot form the previous version, but didn't ruin the amount of fun it provides.

In Yoshi's Island you are Yoshi and you go through the levels with Baby Mario sitting on your back. If you get hit by an enemy then you lose Baby Mario and he starts to cry, but you have 10 seconds to get him back. If the timer runs down to zero, he is kidnapped and you lose a life. As Yoshi you can "eat" the enemies and they become eggs which you can shoot at other enemies and at bonus clouds that hold coins, stars or flowers. Every red coin that you get that is hidden throughout each stage it worth one point to your score. Each star you collect adds one second to your timer. And each flower gives you 10 points. If you collect all 5 flowers in a stage you get an extra life, similar to collecting the Yoshi coins in the first Super Mario World. You can earn up to 100 points for each level (50 for all the flowers, 30 for all the red coins, and 20 for all the stars). If you get 100 points for each level in the game, you can unlock secret levels that are really awesome!

There are many stages in this game. In all, there are 48 levels in the whole game, only half as many as the original Super Mario World game. After you beat each stage you jump into a hoop and a light starts going around the hoop. If it lands on a flower you get to play a bonus game, if not you just advance to the next stage. It takes a while to get used to this game if you are a veteran Super Mario World player because this game is so much different than it. If you own a Super Nintendo and don't own this game yet, go to your nearest used video game store and buy it, you won't regret it.

    5-0 out of 5 stars 100%
MANY HAVE SAID THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES ON THE SNES. THIS IS VERY TRUE, BUT I MUST SAY THAT "YOSHI'S ISLAND" IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES IN HISTORY. EVEN THOUGH I WILL ADMIT I DIDN'T LIKE THE GAME WHEN I FIRST SAW IT. MY COUSIN USED TO PLAY IT AND BABY MARIO'S CRY REALLY GOT ON MY NERVES. SINCE THEN I PLAYED THE GAME FOR MYSELF, AND IT WAS ALL GOOD. AFTER MASTERING THE CONTROLS (WHICH DOESN'T TAKE LONG) I REALIZED THAT YOU DON'T HEAR BABY MARIO CRYING AS MUCH. SIMPLY BECAUSE IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY YOU WON'T LOSE HIM, LOSING HIM MAKES HIM CRY. YOU HAVE UP TO 30 SEC. TO GET HIM BACK OR YOUR GAME IS OVER. NOW I MUST SAY THE GRAPHICS ARE SWEET. I LOVE WHEN YOSHI EATS THE WHITE PUFF BALL THINGS AND THE GRAPHICS START LOOKING ALL TRIPPY. AT ANY RATE THIS GAME IS ONE OF THOSE KEEPERS THAT ALL TRUE GAMERS CHERISH.I GOTTA GO, I'M ABOUT TO FIGHT THAT GIANT TURTLE! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as Nice as Original SNES Controller, but Quite Adequate
The controller I received when I ordered this wasn't quite the one pictured. It was a Super Nintendo-COMPATIBLE controller by a company called the CKLA Group. It didn't have the colored buttons (which was good, as I wanted it to look more my existing controller, anyway), had lesser-quality colors, and was only marked "Super Pad" at the top center.

Aesthetics aside, it's slightly more lightweight than the original controller and the arrow pad seems a bit harder to move (though this may just be due to the years of use that I've given my current SNES controller - loosening it up through wear and tear.) Therefore, if you're a stickler for more sensitive controls, you may want to look to find a controller actually manufactured by Nintendo. If you can't, however, I think this one serves as a perfectly adequate replacement.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great buy at a great price
The controller for the Super Nintendo is great. The size is perfect for anyone and the buttons can be easily reached by your thumbs. Sony made a great decision by modeling their PSX controllers after the Super Nintendo's controllers. If you are looking for a controller with turbo or a a fancier controller with a joystick and a different feel, this is not the controller you want. But if you want a standard controller for you Super Nintendo, this is the controller you want to get.

By buying this controller from Amazon.com, you will be making the right choice...With all of the new systems continuously coming out, you may not be able to find a controller for your Super Nintendo in stores for much longer.

5-0 out of 5 stars FLAWLESS DESIGN
This is the best controller-type setup that I've seen. The nicest thing about it is that ALL buttons are within easy reach of your thumbs. No hand-removal here folks. Sony was SMART when they modeled their Playstation controller after this one. With that in mind, I feel that Nintendo made a GRAVE MISTAKE with their N64 controller. That controller prefers analog over the digital, buttons that are out of the way, and not to mention, it's as big as your face. No, the basic SNES controller doesn't have turbo or anything like that, but even the super-sized one is small when compared to Dreamcast and N64 controllers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Nintendo Controller
The classic controller that can be used with an Super NES. Also it is alot easier to use then the "Special" controller that is biggerthan your face.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good buy
The Superpad Controller is the basic controller for the Super Nintendo. If you're looking for a controller with turbo or a different feel to it,don't get this one.But if you're looking for just the basic controllerfor your Super Nintendo, this is the one you want.

Buying this controllerfrom Amazon is a good buy because it's worth the price and since the SuperNintendo isn't the most popular video game system anymore, it might be hardto find any Super Nintendo controllers in stores. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Agreeing
I'm just agreeing with the one above, it is great, because it is less strainful (is that even a word?) on the eyes to be able to see everything on your TV instead of the littlest handheld.
I really wanted to point out something though. It does work with older black and white games, but you have to be careful with GBC games... Some were programmed to be compatible with SGB, others were not...

5-0 out of 5 stars nintendo addicttor
well im a huge nintendo fan. I really dont know much about the super scope but all I know is that this is for battle clash yoshies safari. I remember years ago when supernintendos were out they had this awsome commercial of battleclash where the bad guys shoot from out of the television the guy grabs the superscope and shoots back at the tv. I heard of this game along time ago but I forgot you need a superscope in order to play this game and now im getting one its sweet. brings me back to the early 90s.

4-0 out of 5 stars great game!
I love the super scope. I've had one since they first came out. I lost the sight though and just got a replacement. There are six games on the cartridge. The rifle style gun that comes with it can be difficult for smaller kids to handle. Also, if you don't adjust your aim as the instructions tell you, you will not get pinpoint accuracy. If you follow the instructions, you will have a guaranteed great time blasting everything that enters your path. Its a game of skill. You can't just shoot, you have to aim. There are moles, rockets, space ships and more. There's even a tetris style game where you have to shoot the blocks to flip them. It's extremely satisfying to watch the things that you shoot, blow up!!! The key to this game, is adjusting your aim (looking through the sight), otherwise, you won't hit the spot your aiming at.

5-0 out of 5 stars Changed Arcade Fighting Games Forever!
Before Killer Instinct there was Mortal Kombat, and Primal Rage. But once Killer Instinct was introduced to the arcade it blew gamers away! I know I must have spent at least 30$ in quarters on it over the years. Well I was so excited when It came to the SNES as an almost perfect arcade port. I own all versions ever made of it including the arcade game. Buy it trust an experienced Killer Instinct fan you wont be dissapointed, especially when your kicking but with Folgore!

2-0 out of 5 stars Severely overrated...
In the nineties, fighting games became extremely popular due to the successes of the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat franchises. Even the British Rare corporation, best known for the highly advanced graphic work they had used in games like Donkey Kong Country, wanted to try their hand at making one. And in the mid nineties, Killer Instinct arrived. How does it measure up? Read on and find out.

    PROS:
-GRAPHICALLY, THIS IS ONE OF THE FINEST LOOKING GAMES ON THE SUPER NINTENDO. The advanced graphic stylings that worked wonders on games like Donkey Kong Country work very well here.
-THE GAME HAS AN INTERESTING CAST OF CHARACTERS. Let's see. We've got a boxer, a skeleton, a werewolf, and even a robot, plus many more. The cast of characters is one of the game's strengths.
-EACH CHARACTER HAS HIS OR HER OWN SPECIAL MOVES. No two characters pay exactly alike.
-EACH CHARACTER HAS A FINISHING MOVE. Some of these are actually pretty interesting (Orchid's is particularly humorous.)

    CONS:
-THE GAME IS HORRIBLY UNORIGINAL. The six-button fighting scheme is ripped off from Street Fighter, and the fatalities are ripped of from Mortal Kombat. And honestly, how many rip-offs of these two games do we need?
-THE CONTROL SEEMS WEAK WHEN COMPARED TO THE TWO GAMES THIS ONE RIPS OFF. Because of this, the controls come off seeming unfinished in their performance.
-LIFE BARS DON'T REGENERATE BETWEEN ROUNDS. In other words, the battles will go completely onesided, and a comeback is virtually impossible if you're getting massacred.

    OVERALL:
Steer clear of this game. If you want good fighting games, stick with the two franchises that this game ripped off. This was an interesting venture for Rare - it just wasn't a very good game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice job, Nintendo.
Everone knows that Nintendo is not quite known for creating fighting games. The company is known for its signature Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda and Metroid games. However Nintendo teamed up with Rare to create a fighting game which used a technology similar to their hit 1994 game, Donkey Kong Country. The result was the arcade fighter Killer Instinct. The SNES version was releasd in 1995.

The story behind the game, as with most fighting games, is quite lame. An organisation called "Ultratech" is pitting various fighters against each other for its own ulterior motives. There are ten fighters which are Thunder, Cinder, Glacius, Fulgore, Jago, Orchid, Riptor, Sabrewulf, Spinal and T.J. Combo. The characters themselves show a fair amount of variation, from the ninja-ish Jago to the robotic Fulgore to the dinosaur Riptor to the red indian Chief Thunder. The boss is Eyedol. The game offers a vast amount of moves for each character, including special moves, secret "combo-breakers," ultra combos, finishing moves, humiliations (a bit like Mortal Kombat's "friendships"), stage fatalities and more. What Killer Instinct is really known for are the combos. Depending on the number of hits they range from "triple" to "blaster" to "monster" to "ultra." Despite all this variation, I only enjoyed a few characters like Jago, Combo, Cinder and Thunder.

Just as in the Donkey Kong Country games, the graphics are amazing. The backgrounds range from medieval castles to rooftops to factories to canyons. The fighters have fluid animation, flashy moves and various coloured outfits to choose from. The sound effects are not bad, but some characters make weird noises, for example, Cinder, Glacius and Riptor. The music is extremely well done. Each background has music which matches its atmosphere. I loved Jago's stage back then (a bit like Ryu's from Street Fighter II). The game controls quite well, but some attacks are unavoidable and quite often you'll get beaten up by some cheap move, despite how strategic you get. The game balance is also a bit off. If you want to win, choose Combo, Jago or Fulgore. If you want to lose, pick Sabrewulf, Riptor or Spinal. Ironically, the computer controlled Spinal provides a good challenge. Eyedol is also a worthy opposition, but like I said above, if you make a single wrong move somewhere, you may end up getting beaten up continuously until you die.

Overall however, for a company that's been making side-scrolling action games and adventure games, Killer Instinct is a surprisingly good effort in the fighting game department. If you want a really solid game for your SNES, with great graphics and music that will provide hours of fun and amusement, Killer Instinct is for you. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst
I think that you would be better off buying a tv stand instead of buying that piece ofplastic. It probably over-heats your game system, plus it might not be big enough. So for my review, I would say Do Not Buy This!!!

    5-0 out of 5 stars D's review
the best thing that ever happended to video games now you can hold a videogame system, accessories&games for a great price:)

2-0 out of 5 stars not to good
it is okay if you wanna just put a regular nes, snes, ps1, regular ps, sega genesis, whatever. as long as it is old and small. as for anything else, it will probly overheat on you or at least reduce the life of your system by about 6 years. most things will fit, but the tight space doesnt allow air cirulation. as for an xbox, well, an xbox wouldnt fit in any kind of container other than a reinforced dump truck. in the end, it would be better to just buy a tv stand or piece of furniture that holds tvs and has drawers and stuff. many are made to hold game consoles, vcr and dvd players and have special slots for cds, dvds, games, etc. So save yourself a couple bucks and a lot of headaches and skip this item

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS
The one reason people buy this is to make there system stay a little more neater.Well guess what!! Don't buy this one, u put the console inside the plastic container and it will over heat while u play it.Don't get a majoir headache over somthing stupid like this.Just find somthing that is open but still keeps it nice.Your Very Welcome!!
