First, this is not a kid's review, I just used this because it was much easier. At first, i was going to buy a Nintendo DS, but then i saw this. The DS cannot compare to the PSP. This system is AWESOME!!! Were do I start. The graphics are by far the best I've seen for a portable system. The lineup for games is basically the PS2 lineup, with future games like 007 from russia with love, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Madden 2006 And NBA Live 2006. Now that new movie companies are publishing DVD's the movie line up is good too. The MP# feature will be nice too. But i did find a couple of downsides though. first, it did not come with a USB cable, but "supposedly" they already lose about $60 on each. Second, it scratches easy. Third, the battery only last about 5 hours. And lastley, Memory cards are Expensive! But hey, I love my PSP, so If you have the money, go for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars GODLY GREATNESS!!!!!!!!!!
First of all...This system is god!!!!!!!Im sure thewrte are the wackos that think the Ds os good well i got news for you IT ISNT!!!!!!!!PSP has movies, music, and games and............other suff!!!!it just rocks!and now for some true facts:
    PSP is god
    DS sucks
    end of that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really worth the money
This machine is incredible!!I bought mine on June 4days ago at TOYS R US, and even the cashier said it is worth the money.I readthese reviews on the PSP saying there is dead pixels, what a total lie whoever is saying that they do not have a mind. This system does it all.Oh and if you buy it make sure you cherish like if it's your child, never let it out of your sight.PSP is simply beautiful.

1-0 out of 5 stars PSP- a real gamers review
First of all let me start by saying that most of the reviews on this site are by people who are casual gamers. I personally have been playing games for most of my life and have owned every major console avaliable. The PSP has several major flaws that the competitors do not.

The first flaw i have seen is the games, the launch titles are mainly football and racing games. i myself am not a sport or racing fan and find no interest in these titles. Although if you were would you really like to play 4 different racing games that are really just the same.

The second flaw is the console durability, the console is easily broken, i know you are meant to look after it but for a portable machine it is going to be dropped at some point in the consoles life. It has several manufacturing flaws as well, such as dead pixels, scratched screens, unresponsive buttons, and disc that like to fly out the back of it if the console is manipulated.

The third flaw is the price, it is very expensive for what it does. It can play MP3's and movies which is great but it does at a substandard quality and you need a memory stick in which to store it. It can not play DVD which means you have to buy the UMD which are far more expensive and will only work on the PSP. while you can buy more high quality products such as a portable DVD player and an iPod for around the same price.

So overall there are far better alternatives to what the PSP can do, for example: portable DVD player; MP3 player. Also having owned a Nintendo DS it is a far more innovative product, with the touch screen bringing wider possibilites for the games. Also if you despartly want the graphics of the PSP in a portable console then please wait till the GBA 2 comes out on the market. it will be far better and have the quality of product that we have come to expect from Nintendo.

Thank you for reading my review, and i hope that it has helped you in your choice of handheld consoles for the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice
one word describes this: nice. as with all other Sony products. Stunningly beautiful graphics on a large (4.3 inches i think) screen, analog, cool looking handheld is amazing. I have one myself. The music and the video just adds to the perfection of the PSP. But, there're some cons. 1st of all I would have to say the games are quite pricey, and that the psp may be a bit heavy for some, and as for the dead pixels, i believe it was the ones for sale in north america that may have them, because i saw 2 that had them, and of course mine doesn't, and also with the battery that doesn't have that long of a life, but.... who would play with a handheld for 4 hours? (thats how long psp battery would last) the verdict: cool looking system with crazy graphics, so get it for sure if money allows, but you may have to charge it often, and watch for the dead pixels. ... 2. Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Bundle 5 Games

(price subject to change: see help)

    Publisher: Sony

    From Amazon.com

To help you start your PSP collection, we've created this special bundle, which includes the games Wipeout Pure, Twisted Metal, NBA, Ape Escape, and World Soccer Tour in addition to the Sony PSP value pack which comes with the AC adapter, battery pack, 32 MB Memory Stick Duo, earbud headphones with remote control, soft case, hand strap, Spider-Man 2 movie, and of course the PSP system.

The era of no-compromises handheld gaming has arrived. Get ready for immersive, 3D gaming on a console that is poised to change the way we think about portable devices. With wireless internet, video and digital music playback, and incredible data storage and connectivity options, the Sony PSP--or PlayStation Portable--is a complete solution for the mobile digital lifestyle. Sony has hit the mark by combining both horsepower and groundbreaking features into a package that weighs just a hair more than half a pound.

    Design
The PSP's exceptional performance comes from a 333 MHz processor that dwarfs the speed of competing handheld consoles. Add this polygon-pushing muscle to 4 MB of fast DRAM and 32 MB of embedded RAM, and you've got a device with graphics rendering capabilities close to that of the PlayStation2. And because no game is complete without audio, the PSP is generously appointed with built-in stereo speakers, as well Dolby Digital 7.1 surround soundcapability. Sony has also pulled out all the stops with the PSP display. The bright, 4.3-inch LCD sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and 480 x 272 pixel resolution--plenty of real estate for heavy gaming action and widescreen-format movies. All of this is powered by a removable, and rechargeable, lithium-ion battery.

Screen machine: The 4.3-inch display sports a 16:9 aspect ratio and 480 x 272 pixel resolution. Movies and games on the go have never been more gorgeous.

From a controls perspective, the PSP is made for gaming. If you're familiar with a PlayStation controller, you'll be a pro at the PSP's controls in no time. Directional buttons, as well as an analog stick are provided. Meanwhile, the familiar left and right shoulder buttons, as well as triangle, circle, cross and square buttons are integrated into the device's slim case. Finally, home, select, and start buttons give you quick access and control over the PSP's important functions.

To have and to hold: The PSP's easy-to-master controls are cleverly integrated into the device's slim profile.

    Supported Media
At the heart of the PSP is a new, proprietary media format known as the Universal Media Disc, or UMD. Each UMD can hold 1.8 GB of data, enough room for rich and complex games. UMDs, which are housed in a protective cover, slide into the rear of the PSP. Sony has declared the UMD an open format for developers and media content owners, so movies, music and other media are on the horizon from third parties. Sony has also signed on many popular game developers for the platform, so a deep library of titles is on tap.

While the UMD is great for read-only media such as games and movies, Sony solves the problem of data storage with the addition of a Memory Stick Duo slot. With Memory Stick Duo media, you can store your saved games, downloaded online content, personal video and audio files, and more. When you want access to these files from your PC, simply use the PSP's USB 2.0 port to turn the device into a fastportable media drive. Then, drag and drop files such as your photos, MP3s, and videos onto the PSP, just as you would any other removable storage device. The PSP ships with a 32 MB Memory Stick Duo, and additional media with higher storage capacities are available.

Major media: Sony's PSP-compatible Universal Media Disc (UMD) can hold 1.8 GB of data.

    Connectivity
The PSP blows away the competition in the connectivity department. Indeed, the PSP's ability to connect to the internet, and to other PSPs and USB-based peripherals, is a real advantage. At the top of the list is Wifi connectivity, or IEEE 801.11b. Use this wireless internet standard to connect to other gamers around the world for hot multiplayer action--all from your couch, or your local Wifi hotspot. As mentioned, the PSP's USB 2.0 port is great for PC connectivity, but it also opens the PSP up for a whole range of future peripherals. Sony has plans for the PSP in other ways, too; the unit's infrared port speaks of remote control capabilities in the near future.

    A Digital Companion
If you haven't already guessed, Sony has positioned the PSP to be much more than a gaming device. Out of the box, the device is ready to serve as a portable video player and photo viewer. By using the new H.264 MPEG-4 video standard, Sony obviously has its eyes on making the PSP a robust video device with support for feature length movies and more.In addition, the PSP offers a great way to transport and share your photos in JPEG format. And let's not forget the music. Load up your favorite MP3-encoded songs onto a Memory Stick Duo and you've got a portable audio powerhouse. The device also supports Sony's ATRACaudio codec, so you can play songs acquired from Sony's Connect Online Music Store. Sony even ships a nifty pair of earbuds--complete with an inline remote control-- with the PSP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Freakin' Sweet

(thats how long psp battery would last) the verdict: cool looking system with crazy graphics, so get it for sure if money allows, but you may have to charge it often, and watch for the dead pixels. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Only does one thing, and it doesn't even do THAT well...
(Just so you know, this is NOT a battery charger or docking station - it is just a piece of plastic to hold up your PSP at an angle).

It's a nice idea - put your PSP on a lightweight plastic clip so that you can watch your movies at a nice angle. The problem is, the angle is all wrong for watching videos.About the only two products that do this well currently are the plastic Logitech case ($19, protects the PSP perfectly, and gives a great viewing angle) or the upcoming Nyko Theater Experience Case ($79, includes small speakers, two headphone jacks, and an internal battery to give you about 3 times the battery life).

Go with one of the other available options. They're worth the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not A Docking Station
Product title is misleading if you are expecting a docking station like those for PDAs or cameras. This just holds the PSP and you have to manually plug the adaptor in.

Also, like others mentioned, the angle is a little too low and the piece that holds it up will sometimes give out causing your PSP an unneeded hit on the back.

3-0 out of 5 stars PSP Dock it
a decent stand which is comforting when enjoying multimedia such as music and videos and recharging your PSP but the low angle is a bit of of an anoyance

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth The Money...
Pretty flimsy, basically all it does is hold it up. Also the angle is too far down....

2-0 out of 5 stars it stinks

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this!! It pixelates the screen!!!
Using this screen protector seems to dim the screen and pixelates it turning the awesome graphics of the PSP into garbage. Save yourself 10 bucks and don't buy this thing.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Wow, an absolute waste of $10!I for one did not have lint problems, but you certainly have to be careful when applying it if you don't want any lint to get caught under the screen guard.
My biggest problem is what someone else said about how the guard distorts the LCD.I think it has an anti-glare coating, but it makes everything on the LCD look blurry and you get a "rainbow" effect which produces colors on the screen that aren't there.
Sure it prevents scratches, but I think having one or two scratches on a clear LCD is better than having zero scratches on what is now a blurry piece of junk.I hope this thing isn't too hard to remove...

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
This screen protector works great!People complain that you need to keep it free of dust. This is true. You need to clean the screen really good. All you need to do is use the provided cleaning cloth and maybe even get a can of compressed air to blow off any remaining dust.Than follow the directions on the box EXACTALLY as it tells you.I had no problems with it at all.If you are a teenager and are having trouble just ask your parents for help.Once applied you could not ask for anything better. It will save your PSP from any scratches and keep the screen free from fingerprints. The screen quality does not change with the exception of maybe being a little darker. It is really not noticeable though. It greatly reduces glare and that is a major bonus. All in all a great purchace.I highly recommend buying one.I hope you all enjoy it's added protection as much as I do.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely horrible
As everyone mentioned, this thing attracts lint like crazy, Before putting it on, make sure you use the cleaning cloth and have one of those compressed air cans handy. Trust me, you'll need it if you want to make sure you don't trap a spec of dust underneath the screen protector.

The image quality is what makes this thing absolutely worthless. Ridge Racer looks like crap with this thing on. Same thing with Spiderman and other movies. Everything is dimmer and the "pixelated twinkle" effect make your PSP look awful. Even if you get this free as a gift, go in and exchange it for something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware linty homes. I know it works. I saw it work.
I just got so frustrated with this POS I just twisted the films into thin string and threw them away (no way I can get my money back now) because I just could not get rid of the damned lint!!! This thing attracts lint like you wouldn't believe!! BOTH FILMS!!! I'm ordering somemore because I'm a glutton for punishment. Next time I'm applying the film outside under a plastic tarp! I just have to give it 1 star because this stuff is impossible if you live in a linty home and if you shed skin and invisible body hair (which includes all humans).

If other products are like this, then these things suck and there's no way for them to get better since they rely on static electricity. GDI!!!

I just couldn't believe it. What an instant waste of $10 I could have spent on food or something. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for emergencies
The Pelican Power Brick (model#PL-6018) is a battery brick that you charge with the AC adapter that came with your PSP.Then when you are on the road and your PSP is running low on juice, you can then use this Power Brick to charge your PSP.The squarish Power Brick is not big but a bit on the heavy side for its size. You can fit it into a pants pocket.

The brick, which contains a rechargable battery inside, takes about 4 hours to charge up, and then charging the PSP from the brick takes 3 hours when the PSP is off.If you charge the PSP when you are using the PSP, it'll take much longer (I'm not sure how much longer since I haven't timed it).The brick can charge your PSP about twice before it needs to be recharged from AC power.

This Power Brick is handy when you are on the road and don't have your AC adapter or an electric outlet. The construction feels cheap but at less than 15 bucks, it's pretty good for those times when you are in the midst of a great game (think wireless battles) and your PSP is about to give up for lack of juice.

I just wish they made this smaller and lighter.3 stars for product, an extra star for the affordable price. It also comes with a five-year warranty. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Solid Storage Solutions for PSP
While the PSP is certainly one of the slickest pieces of gaming hardware ever, it's ultra shiny and clear surfaces make it a very high maintenance little toy, indeed. The need for protective cases and travel-friendly accessories is therefore a very integral part of the PSP experience.

Sony seems to be content to leave this potentially profitable market to third party manufacturers for now, hence the following review of Pelican's Road Pak 1.

Consisting of a couple of different power sources, a carrying case, and UMD sleeves, Pelican has put together a compelling product, at least for the first run of "must-have" PSP accessories. At the core of this kit is arguably the rechargable battery. Also sold as an individual unit for about $20, the rechargable battery is a rather cheap-looking little black brick with a green LED indicator and pass-through that allows you to charge your PSP while simultaneously charging the battery itself.

While I have not scientifically tested the battery charge times, I've found that it is good for at least a single full charge to your PSP. It is rated by the manufacturer to do two full charges, but I feel it is probably safer to say between 1 and 1 and a half "good" charges. It should effectively double your overall playtimes if you are out and about. I believe it's best use will be continuous gaming or watching a couple of movies during a 4-6 hour flight.

One problem I found is that the battery gets almost alarmingly hot during charging, especially when it is being used as a pass-through to charge your PSP at the same time. I would probably avoid dual charging and just do each device separately for everyday use.

The Pak also includes a 12V car adapter, which is perfect for road trips.

The soft case bears mentioning as well. Made of a sturdy nylon, it has a rigid, pre-formed compartment for your PSP and charging devices. I assume it's molded plastic with a felt-like coating sprayed on. I actually like this as it prevents the PSP from floating around in the case and coming into contact with everything, although the PSP fits too snugly to allow external screen protectors that might attach to the PSP to fit in too. There are also two other separate compartments for UMDs and miscellaneous items. The section meant for UMDs is positioned directly over the PSP compartment, and although there is a lightly padded partition to separate the two, the paranoid part of me is hesitant of trying to stuff anything there. I would probably want a separate case for UMDs or see better padding in a future design.

Also included as almost an afterthought are several colorful UMD sleeves and a tiny cleaning cloth. The UMD sleeves are of the "slide in" style that have univerally been criticized for lightly scratching the external housing of the UMDs. They will, however, protect the exposed optical read slot from damage, so they are still useful, if you don't mind the possible cosmetic consequences. The cleaning cloth is black in color and is quite small compared to the one included in the PSP value pack. It would be ok as a backup, or if you really want to stick something over your PSP screen while it's inside the travel case.

Overall, the Road Pak is a very good value and it one of the better first generation accessory packs. I have yet to come across an accessory kit that truly delivers the "right stuff" as far as storage case, screen protection, media protection, and power sources, but the PSP is still in it's infancy. The battery pak alone is about half the value of the entire package, so it's definitely an accessory kit worthy of consideration. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Here is how to use the cable
A lot of people seem to be complaing that the cable doesn't work. In order for your computer to recognize it, you must first put the PSP in USB Connection mode. This option is selectable from the Home desktop (just search for it). Have that selected and running with the cable connected to your computer and the PSP should pop up as a new drive on your computer.
You can go here (http://hardware.gamespot.com/Story-ST-11721-172 5-x-x-x) to learn how to transfer videos. For pics you make a folder in the root called DCIM then another inside that called 101MSDCF then put your pics in, but the have to be named like this :DSC00162.JPG The last 4 numbers can be any numbers you want. Not sure about music since I haven't done that yet, but I'm sure you can find info for that somewhere online.

5-0 out of 5 stars nice product!
This covers the screen of the psp so it does not get scratched or punctured. For me, this did not jam the UMD drive! It took about ten seconds to put on the psp.Very efficient and worth the money. I just flap it over and pop it in the safe sleeve[that came with the psp]. Do that, and it's as snug as a bug in a rug[lol].

2-0 out of 5 stars Face Armor damaged my UMD drive
In the process of attaching the Face Armor to my UMD drive I damaged the UMD drive. The drive didn't stop working right away, but did so a few days later.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cheap but gets job done
The screws on top were no trouble to screw in. tight as can be, they do not prevent my UMD door from opening/closing, so they may have fixed this issue. The cover works excellent as a front flap... start your MP3s, turn off the screen, put it on hold, slam the cover down and you can throw the sucker in your backpack and comfortably listen to music without worrying about scratching the face. Well worth the 11 bucks.
The UMD disc jackets DO Scratch your games, but im pretty sure the PSP only reads the part that is left uncovered, so scratching the rest of the clear plastic on the UMD itself shouldnt impact gameplay, just looks. Some of the jackets fit perfect without scratching, the ones that do you can tell its the two nubs that hold the game in place. just put pressure down on those individually and bend them so they wont scratch the plastic covers of your discs, if that is a concern.

I think this set is WELL worth it because it allows you to throw both the PSP itself AND its games in any of your pockets without worrying about scratching either.

    3-0 out of 5 stars It's okay...but...
As mentioned several times, the face armor does have the problem with the screws. While it is worth the $10.00, it felt so flimsy to me that I was afraid I would break it.The screws were annoying to deal with seeing that one side does not go in all the way. There's a rumor that it's because one of the holes is a milimeter to long or something like that but it doesn't matter. After having to rescrew the thing on four to five times, I got sick of it and removed it for good.I then ordered the Logitech PlayGear Pocket which I'm looking forward to being that it's a complete protective case.

If you can only spend about $10.00, then this is okay.If you're willing to spend a little more, check out the Logitech PlayGear Pocket.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good concept, useful, but rather flimsy and blocks USB port
This package contains two products: a "face armor" cover for your PSP, and four UMD jackets. Both products are made of plastic. The "face armor" cover is black, while the UMD jackets are clear transparent.

Of course, you are considering this package for the screen cover. While the cover itself fits the PSP well -- it covers the entire front of the PSP, not just the screen, and swivels up to reveal the PSP (it swivels to almost 180 degrees, but not quite). With the cover installed, your PSP is well protected against scratches and fingerprints while you transport it or hold it in your hand.

The problem is, the "face armor" is rather poorly made, esp. in the screw mechanism. It attaches to your PSP via two screws that go into the two holes to the left and right of the mini-USB port on the back of your PSP.Due poor design or manufacturing ("made in China"), only one screw will go in properly. The other screw will likely not fit perfectly -- I know this because I tried two of these and all my friends had trouble with theirs.I found out that the trick is, first you have to align the screws with the holes perfectly, second you should gently tighten the screws in an alternating fashion: tighten one a little bit, then the other, then the first one a little bit more, then the other a little more, ... until both are tightened.Keep in mind that one of them just won't be a perfect fit, which also means if you pull hard you can pull the screws out.But as long as you can tighten both, the cover will stay put pretty well.Remember: this is a cheap accessory, true to its form.

I don't think reviewer Mark Reid has it right; with the face armor attached you have full access to the UMD.The face armor does NOT block the latch or UMD compartment cover. What it does block is the USB port: with the face armor attached, the mini-B USB connector won't be able to go inside the USB port, so you will have to remove the face armor if you want to use USB.This is a non-issue for me since I use the Sony Memory Stick Duo USB reader to access the MS Duo card, instead of using the USB port on the PSP.

The clear UMD jackets are meant as holders for your UMDs so you don't leave the exposed UMD surface exposed to the elments.I found the jackets a bit hard to use at first. You pretty much have to push your UMD into the grooves on the jacket real hard the first couple times. It kinda freaked me out because I was afraid this might crack the plastic cartridge of the UMD.So be careful.Try it yourself and see if you like the jackets. Now that I've got a hang of them I kinda like them, at least I prefer keeping my UMDs free of dust and fingerprints.

IMHO the package is worth $10, but you have to be careful when you use the two products, or you can break them easily -- or worse, break your PSP or UMD.Be gentle; don't force your way in. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product, easy to apply
I don't understand why people are having so many problems with these screen protectors. I bought them followed the instructions and used the tool provided to get rid of air bubbles and I got a perfect seal on my PSP screen, no air bubbles, no dust particles. Not only does it protect the screen but it really helps against glare, the PSP screen finish is almost like a mirror, reflects everything, but with this on it is much easier to see the screen in all kinds of different lights. Highly recommended.

1-0 out of 5 stars bad screen
do not get this item, i picked it up because i had a discount at my store.I do recommend getting a screen film but not this one.it is IMPOSSIBLE to put it on without having bubbles all over your screen and just trying to put it on makes the material all scratched up so unless u want ur screen to look scratched up and full of bubbles, don't purchase this accessory.it's sad that intec's gonna make money of these screen protectors that function so horribly

3-0 out of 5 stars Well... it's better than nothing
I read it from somewhere that this screen protector is the best one out there... and it may or it may not be depends on how you apply it.

First of all, I need to let you know that

YOUR PSP SCREEN IS EXTREMEMLY, EXTREMELY VULNERABLE TO ANY KIND OF SCRATCH

Really, you will get scratches here and there no matter how hard you try if you don't have any screen protector; TRUST ME ON THIS (even the soft clothes, which comes with the PSP, makes scratches if you use wrong side of it)

I had bunch of bubbles first time I applied it; if you are getting bubbles, then it means you need to use more caution.Just having one particle of dust either on the screen or the protector means having a bubble. So my suggestion is..

    1. I would make sure to get rid of all the dusts, marks, whatever on the PSP screen and also have your screen protector free from dust as much as possible. THIS IS VERY CRUCIAL FOR HAVING A CLEAN, BUBBLE-FREE SCREEN

    2. Then I would peel off the screen protector just barely enough to apply on one end of the screen (make sure you measure the screen protector to the PSP screen; it barely covers the screen and make sure you apply it right first time) then just slide it over with the plastic slider they provide (by the way, the plastic slider they provide isn't wide enough to completely pushout the bubbles, and it also creates scratches on the protector as well.. come'on, THINK!!!)My recommendation is that I would use a ruler to do this instead of the crappy plastic stuff

You know, one MAJOR DOWNSIDE of this product is that you get ONLY ONE TRY; that's it.If you are getting even one bubble or whatever on your first try, it means that is the end of it; don't try to peel it off again to get rid of dust - it will only creates more bubble and ruin your screen protector.

I guess good thing about it is that it's better than nothing; really, your PSP screen is soooooo vulnerable...hard to believe.. and this product, if applied with utmost concentration and care with some luck, looks good because it only covers the screen barely and looks good on your PSP.

Well, I don't know... it is definitely your call... but remember two things; first of all, you NEED TO PROTECT your PSP's screen, and second of all, you get ONLY ONE TRY with this product.

    Good Luck.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a Mistake
First off it doesn't look good at all.Air bubbles are the biggest problem.First one I bought had no adhesive on it and therefore made it totally useless.Second one I tried scratched my screen to hell trying to place it and get out air bubbles.Spend a little more and you will be happy with what you get!DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM IT IS TERRIBLE!I suggest something that can be taken off and reapplied with no problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not the solution...unless you love air bubbles
Before you buy this, ask yourself if you mind air bubbles all over your PSP screen.I, like you, didn't pay $250 to look at air bubbles. It comes with this squeegy thing to push out the air bubbles, but no matter how hard I tried or re-did it there were still air bubbles.I just took it off after one day because I could stand to see my PSP that way.Get a glass magnet and cut it down, it will probably work better than this did. ...
