5-0 out of 5 stars Best thing since sliced bread
PS2 is the best system, hands down because all of the games to choose from, but i still say, there is no reason to buy a PS2 unless you get GTA3,Vice City or San Andreas because those games are best games ever invented. PS2 gets a bad rap because they say it doesn't have updated graphics but people only that when praising the stink box and the gaycube. PS2 has the best games like GTA, Manhunt and Max Payne. Just a overall fun system, can u believe it once cost $300.00 and it is such a small item.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of 3
I have often seen people bashing about Xbox and Gamecube but let me tell you one thing . The only thing that is better on Xbox are graphics and speed. NOTHING ELSE. About games Ps2 wins.Like car simulation show me a game which is better than Gran Turismo. Like Shooting games. Show me a game that is better than Metal Gear Solid. The only game which XBOX has got is Halo. But thats it. November 2004 is even going to be for PS2. Why? Metal Gear Solid 3 and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas only coming on PS2 platform. However let me also tell you another thing. If you are above 20, like violence and abusive language get an XBOX. If below 10, like childish games get a Game cube. But if you are between 10 to 20 yrs old, like all types of games, and want to play DVDs on your console, get a PS2. Belive me you wont be sorry. I have 7 yrs of gaming experience

4-0 out of 5 stars Playstation 2 is good, but not GOD!!!
First off let me start by saying, this is NOT going to be a PS2 bashing. Though we all have our opinions on the three systems, the fact is that they are all great systems in their own right. That is to say you won't go wrong no matter which one you choose.

Let me reiterate, this is not a bad system. It has several great games (Final Fantasy X & X2, Grand Theft Auto, WWE Smackdown Series and several others). Though it must be noted that Gamecube and XBox both have great exclusive titles. The graphics are outstanding and they may not even be the best of the three, but they are great, certainly better than anything we had just a few short years ago. They definitely have more benefits than everybody else (free online gaming, the Eyetoy, and more games. As far as controllers go, I like Gamecube's a bit better, but this controller works wonderfully well too and is well laid out. (You won't be searching for the buttons like you do on XBox controllers, that is my one true complaint with that system) Anyway Playstation 2's biggest downfall is in the fragility of the system itself and though I have experienced no problems personally, I have heard of a few from close friends.

1. Disc Reading Error (You've seen this many times, I will comment no further.)

2. Malfunctioning Disc Door (It just stops opening when the button is pressed. You then have to pull it out and push it in manually which can cause it ultimately to break.)

3. The power cords tend to wear out faster than average. (Not a big deal, the cords are fairly cheap, but it could present a fire hazard.)

None of these things would be a huge deal except that the PS2 comes with a measly 90 day warranty (Do I hear 1 year anyone?)

I'm not trying to say this system is junk. It does have durability issues more than anything. I personally prefer Gamecube but only by a small margin. All of you who immaturely spout "PS2 rules, Gamecube & XBox suck" are not only lying to yourselves, you're doing a great disservice to the readers who depend on these reviews to make an important decision.

The bottom line is the Playstation 2 is a great system and definitely worth the money, but it is not gaming perfection as some make it out to be. Try Gamecube & XBox as well. All three are extremely fun!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars PS2 the best overall video game experense of all time
The PS2 is the best, its controller is the best, the games are the best, expecially when it has the biggest game lybrary so far with all the new systems today. If you have a kid who does not know how to play one of thoughs bulky video game controllers from the Xbox or Gamcube, the PS2 is your choice. The PS2 is the best and thats all I got to say about that.

5-0 out of 5 stars PS2 IS THE BEST SYSTEM EVER MADE
PS2 is a great system. For only $149.99 with a free network adaptor, you can't go wrong. You have to buy it! Also if you are looking for a great online game with ur network adaptor, buy SOCOM II: US NAVY SEALs. Great game! The PS2 is simply amazing. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

What good is a game system without fun games? For gamers who seek a fast dose of fun from their PlayStation2, we've got this special game pack, which includes the new PlayStation2 console (with controller), a bonus Dual Shock 2 controller, a PS2 vertical stand, and three games (Madden NFL 2001, SSX: Snowboard Supercross, and Ridge Racer V). At the heart of the PlayStation2 is the 128-bit Emotion Engine processor, which promises to bring lightning-fast gameplay and unprecedented graphics power to your TV screen. We've packed in three AAA family titles to get things started.

EA Sports' Madden NFL 2001 fully utilizes PlayStation2's advanced hardware with ultrarealistic rushing, passing, blocking, and tackling. You can play the built-in AFC and NFC lineups, or even create your own player. The graphics power of the PlayStation2 brings a new level of detail to the game. As play progresses, you'll see the field collecting scars from some of the rougher tackles, and the players will show some wear of their own, too.

If you can pull yourself away from the football game, there's also SSX: Snowboard Supercross. Game critics are raving about this fast-action winter title, which includes unconventional racing environments and a wide variety of boarders.

The game pack also includes Ridge Racer V, the latest title in Namco's popular racing series. This graphically stunning racer truly showcases the horsepower of the PlayStation2. The vehicles have more polygons than we can imagine, and their reflective surfaces are just dazzling.

To help you go head-to-head with your opponents, this bundle also includes a bonus Dual Shock 2 controller. Also, we've included the official PS2 vertical stand, which turns your machine into a tower of sleek gaming power.

About These Bundles:

Amazon.com and Toysrus.com are pleased to offer these special PlayStation2 bundles. When you select a bundle for purchase, Amazon.com will ship your selection in a single box. Of course, you're free to add additional PlayStation2 games or accessories to your order. Depending on item availability, these additional items might ship separately. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars PlayStation 2 Review
I went out and bought the PlayStation 2 the day that it was released; sure I had mine reserved since mid February so I was guaranteed one.I walked into Toys R Us to a sign that said that there were no systems available to the public that had not already reserved one. This was a blessing seeing as there were no lines to get the system. So I just looked around a little bit in the "R"Zone picked up Tekken Tag Tournament and took my pre-sells up to the counter and purchased my system and games.

Throughout the whole PS2 launch fiasco in Japan with the games not holding up to the expectations of most, I was a bit weary of the system's potential.I had seen the less than stellar movies and screenshots of the games and saw the comparison between DOA2 on both the DC and the PS2.At that time the DC version looked remarkably better with the anti-aliasing.So I was waffling whether to even worry about the PS2 and wait for the Gamecube and XBOX. When in February I saw that Toys R Us was pre-selling the system I thought that I should just pick one up and then decide later if I wanted it or not.At least I would have one reserved if I decided to get one.

During the eight months that followed I still wasn't sure, I still hadn't found that the games were anything spectacular, nor did I find the graphics to be anything I haven't seen on the Dreamcast. So now it was the day I picked up 2 games, SSX and TTT.Took them home and set the system up put SSX in and turned the system on.SSX had great graphics, good control, and nice concept, nothing unfortunately that I would call spectacular.I then popped in Tekken Tag Tournament, my impulse buy.Nice big characters, great graphics, and Tekken 3 control. This is what you would call a safe bet, you know exactly what to expect, nothing innovative just a tried and true formula.

I then decided that I would play around with the menus in the system, kinda see what did what.I set the time and looked at the PlayStation settings, popped in Resident Evil Survivor, and not even the PS2 could save that game.Got a DVD it played without a problem, a CD, the same. But I felt a little cheated, with almost 30 games available at launch, I was able to find 2 that I thought I would enjoy.I was really hoping that I would find at least 5 must buy right now titles much like I did with the Dreamcast. It just doesn't seem right.Overall, it makes a good CD player, DVD player and PlayStation, but so far not a good PlayStation2.

4-0 out of 5 stars I think this system is great... just needs games.
I didnt purchase a bundle system, but I did get a PS2 and love it!!! The system is way more powerful then Dreamcast which I also have. The Dreamcast does have a better software lineup then the PS2 right now, but by this summer into the fall expect to see some great games. In the lines of competition (XBOX) (GAMECUBE) I will get them both, but Nintendo is concentrating on the younger crowd again, and who knows what the XBOX holds... personally I dont trust ..., but I will get it anyway. The PS2 will ... now, but byde your time my friends this summer is a PS2 summer!!..Dont worry about Nintendo or Microsoft.. The PS2 will keep up with them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Should be better.....
For being such a highly hyped gaming system, you would think it would offer more.Maybe Sony over hyped it and my expectations were too high. The fact that people are comparing the PS2 to the Dreamcast should be very scary for Sony.PS2 should be the latest and greatest and blow the competition away, not be still evolving. If I buy a new desktop computer, I expect it to be better than one that is a year old.It shouldn't take a year for the PS2 to get to the point where it is a great system because guess what, the competition is coming after the PS2 very soon. The DVD feature is nice I must say.So if you want a DVD player that also plays games well, go for PS2. Save you money for now and see what Microsoft and Nintendo do if you want the latest and greatest in gaming. If you want something now for gaming only, go for the Dreamcast. You'll save some bucks so you can buy a bunch of games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid system
Everyone seems to be comparing the Dreamcast with the PS2 and making some legitimate gripes. However, I ask this of people... if the PS2 came out before the Dreamcast, would you be making the same gripes? If the PS2 came out over a year ago, I'm sure they would have the full capabilities that Sega presents and then some. Also, many complain about no internet connection, etc... The PS2 is capable. What Sony has not done is sell the components to make it a realization. It's all a marketing ploy so they can build up hype and sales. Give the PS2 a year, and it will surpass the Dreamcast in gameplay, selection, and capability.

I personally found the PS2 attractive because of its backward compatibility and the ability to play DVD's. I will say that the games are quite good for being such a young system. Also, the DVD playing is sufficient. Although the controls are awkward because you have to use the analog controllers, it still suffices as a DVD player. There is a third party remote, but I don't trust third part equipment. I'll wait for something better. As some have said, the vent is quite loud at times. The hum will be annoying at first esp. if you place it on a hard surface, but it's something you'll get used to.

Should you get the PS2? Yes. Should you get it now? No. The price will definitely go down with time, and it'll be more affordable then. Also, there will be more games later this year. Also, for those who don't have a DVD player, this system will keep you entertained two-fold. If you're going to compare it to the Dreamcast, ask yourself where the PS2 will be in equal time. You can't compare a 5-year-old to a new born and automatically say that the 5-year-old will be smarter in the long run just because it can read and the newborn can't. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars PS2 DVD Remote by Sony
This is an exceptional value. Plug in the reciever and wa la! Use the remote. Personal experience says it can be used to play some games even.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is not a false advertisement....
It is not a false advertisement, it is just meant for the newer models of the Playstation 2 that have a built in IR receiver, which is why it doesn't include it!

1-0 out of 5 stars False Advertisement
This is a perfect example of false advertisement. If you're like the many that i've heard of trying to order a remote for the Playstation 2, Don't order this one unless you have a newer model. The picture shows an IR unit but it doesn't come with one. So save yourself the hassle and don't order this.

3-0 out of 5 stars incorrect product description - note!!!
This remote is NOT as described; this is an identical remote to the $10 one available from Amazon directly and does NOT include the IR kit as pictured and described. I want my money back!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great dvd remote for starters
If you are getting tired of using the controller for dvds, this remote is a great idea.It has many features and it always responds so you don't have to get up 2 feet in front of the sensor and push buttons a hundred times to pause or somthing. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that the buttons are a little smaller than i wanted but neverless it is a great remote.I highly recomend it. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What exactly is the point?
What's the point of this pad? The whole fun in DDR is moving your body - there's absolutely no fun involved in just using your fingers. And if you somehow find that fun, then you could easily use the regular controller - it's easier to push and more comfortable, and you already have one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for playing
This is meant for playing with as a cutsey little DDR mat for your fingers. It's actually better just to use your controller if you're not going to use your feet; it's much easier that way and the buttons on the finger pad are harder to push. And seeing as the point of the game is to use your feet, there isn't much need for a device like this. Let's be real though, the only reason to buy one of these is to set up in your room and put an action figure on top of it. It shows that you're a DDR fan to anyone who comes in, and you have to admit it would be pretty funny to walk into someone's room and see a TMNT Foot Soldier or Solid Snake playing Dance Dance Revolution. Another idea for those crazy enough about DDR is to remove the cord and make it into a keychain; though it would be one expensive keychain.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ehhm...
The concept of this thing is pretty silly. The buttons are hard to mash, and it'd be downright impossible to play MAX300 on this thing.Use your controller instead.

I also find it quite ironic that there is a picture of a butterfly girl on the package, considering that Konami never brought 'butterfly' to the US...

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not the best
This mini, mini, extra, tiny dance mat is definately not for your feet (heehee, duh!).I found that the buttons need to be pushed pretty hard to get the game to register. This little thing is fun to play "double" mode on DDRMax (where you play on two mats at once) but isn't the best, but the only finger dance mat on the market.

1-0 out of 5 stars You had better have strong fingers for this contraption!
The sensors are not very sensitive at all. You have to really bang on them in order for it to register on the TV screen. This of course makes fast songs impossible to master. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS MAT!!!
i got this mat for christmas and it was really fun and extremly cool... until it broke, four days after christmas. i was sooooo disappointed. i've wanted one for a year and when i got it, it was so much fun. anyone who tried had to wear socks, no shoes or barefoot, but i guess it didn't matter, because the back arrow did not respond anyways. the next day my sister, who also got a mat, claimed her back arrow didn't respond either. so now we don't have any mat even to share. i would not recomend this to my worst enemy. please save your money if you don't want to be as disapointed as i am.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS MAT ROCKS!!!!
I just got this mat to play with a DDR sim called StepMania. It triggers wonderfully, being right on 99% of the time. The extra arrows are also a bonus. If your playing the home version they trigger the X,O, triangle, and square buttons. On StepMania, you can use them to play solo or to play technomotion (4 normal arrows plus diagonals), or for start and back. I'm not a ddr n00b (I can pass Sakura, Outer Limits, and Paronia Survivor on heavy, which are all tens) so I know what I'm talking about. One thing about this mat is that levelsix.com sells it so you can order it direct from them if its not in stock here. And for all of you RedOcatane fanboys, RO can also abreviate something else - "RIP OFF." Buy something that's worth the money; get this.

PS - I'm not a kid I'm just too young to get a credit card so I have no reason to make my own account. Just thought I'd let ya know.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHO SAID THAT DDR DOESNT HAVE SIX ARROWS?????
some DDR fanatic you are. DDR Konamix has 6 arrows in solo mode; too bad it doesnt have 8 arrows. Who cares if there are 8 arrows it looks cool :) but ya true i would buy a red octane pad but they are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ TO THE MAXX. MAXX UNLIMITED!!! :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Konami Dance Mat
This Mat Has a Good solid construction, although it's nothing on the RedOctane pads; it's excllent for beginers and is usually shipped with DDR Max and DDR Max2, In regards to another comment - There are 6 arrows on a correct DDR Mat/Pad; Although only 4 Are used in usual play, The Extra 2 Diagonal Arrows are for "Solo" mode which would suit those who have a DDR Solo Aracde machine in their local Arcade.

1-0 out of 5 stars This pad is not for DDR!
DDr has no diagnal arrows. DDR pads only have 4 buttons on them. Do not get this dance pad. The only good dance pads out there are by REDOctane, the other pads rip and their sensors shift out of place so when u go to hit one arrow u hit another button instead. TRUST ME I AM A DDR FINATIC. I have gone through all kinds of pads and the only ones worth buying are by RedOctane.
See for yourself, go look at the REdOctane dance pads. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stand but it is just for looks
I bought this stand over the vertical standbecause i heard stories about the discs being scratched when the ps2 is in vertical position. I have been very happy with the stand so far. I am going to give the vertical one a try too ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Sony PlayStation 2 accessory... EVER!
I bought this thing back in 2001 because I was unsatisfied with the vertical stand and how it made the laser skip sometimes so I traded it in to Electronics Boutique for this one which looks cool (oooh look at the blue bar in front of the vents!) and I am an accessory freak.I really can't say why I bought this thingie, but I am using it right now and I have had absolutely no problems with it and I can't really say it makes a difference, but I feel that Sony should have grafted this onto the original mold of all PlayStation 2s and not make people buy this... accessory! Supposedly it is supposed to give you better airflow because it blocks the front air vents [(with no fan) only blocks first generation models!], but mine is a second generation model (good model early 2001- without those disc-read error launch defects). My model has the raised vents, so the blue bar doesn't cover it, allowing dust to get in your PS2.I only reccommend this useless accessory to you if you have the original October 26, 2000 model PS2, can't stand having $.. in your wallet or you think that a little bar of blue plastic made by Sony is so so cool!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the best ever!
when I ordered it, i thought it would be just a piece of junk, but when I saw it for the 2nd time, I was amazed at how sleek and space effecint it was. Get the stand and you'll see.

5-0 out of 5 stars Horizontal Stand
What more can I say, Its self-explanatory.Hence the name!!!It's main purpose is to look cool.Sure you can place your PS2 in its vertical position, and yes that would save you alot of room, but in the long run your PS2 will start to scratch your cds.No matter how well you take care of it, even if you treat it like it was part of your family, it would still give you the same result.Trust me, I've been through two PS2 already. The first model which in my opinion, sony rushed it out into the market so that they can make some cha-ching you know. That system died on me for no apparent reason.I'm guessing because of its weak laser assemble.I've waited in a line for hours and hours, spend a couple of bones on it and within a few months the system just chokes. My second system came upon me as a gift, including the Vertical Stand. At first glance, People said: "Sh#$ this looks flood plucking tight"Being me, I took their word for it and I placed the system in it's up right position. No sooner did I noticed that the system starts spitting out my cds with circular scratches on each and everyone of them. A long story short, that system died too, as I was very piss off at it plus it stoping dvds too. This is my third and final system, and I plan to keep it that way for a long time as I am now placing the system with a horizontal stand.I've had it for about two months now and it works great.Need I say more. So if you plan to position your system to make it look cool and not have to worry about scratches then look no further then purchasing the horizontal stand.
Note: Positioning the system in it's vertical stand can cause it to scratch, but this was my experience with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars S.S.S.(Space Saving Stand)
The vertical stand allows for space to be used efficiently, besides, it looks cool! ... Read more

Yes, this controller looks really cool, especially when your surroundings are really dark. It's got a playful sci-fi look to it that the kid in you will totally like.
The shoulder buttons are strange. For some games they're an improvement, but for other games you'll find yourself holding your fingers differently than they suggest. So the shoulder buttons have mixed results.
The four action buttons on the right side seem a bit close to the right analog stick. Not a huge deal, but next time I hope they keep that in mind.
The buttons feel solid, the rumbling action is good, and the whole controller feels good all in all. There's just one thing that really upsets me that everyone should be alerted to.Inside the book is an important message reading "WARNING:DO NOT USE AFTERGLOW PRO IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE AIRFLOWtm CONTROLLER FROM NYKO, THE LUMICONtm CONTROLLER FROM MAD CATZ, OR ANY MULTI-TAP FROM ANY MANUFACTURER; IT MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR PLAYSTATION 2 SYSTEM OR YOUR NEW AFTERGLOW PRO CONTROLLER."
To which I respond "WTF?"A controller that can't play with others, or else my entire PS2 might be destroyed? Not cool, not cool at all.So consider yourselves warned. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Guns Make The Games Fun
IT was hard on what gun to buy but after hours of reserch i can say with no regret that this gun was the best choice you can make. It works with all of guncon2 games so you dont have to worry about that. Its preety cheap and it has auto reload. Its like a pistol and a machine gun. And it makes games like house of the dead twice as fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Light Gun of them all!!!
There have been a number of clumsy guns created for playstation in the last few years that ony worked with specific games and systems and requirements, but this game works with every kind of game I've tried both on PS and PS2 and is simply hours of fun on an arcade game like Time Crisis2 and the Time Crisis and a number of other great games that will truly be fun once you get this gun, the only problem is that it's very hard to find and get a hold of, one day it's their the other second it's gone.SO when you see..this baby up for sale you hop on the chance.

5-0 out of 5 stars great fun
it is so much more fun using this on silent scope than using the plain old controller. If you have a shooting game this is a must have for the playstation2. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Controller Ever
Like everyone else....I just wanted to not have my dogs trip on my PS2 cords, so I thought I would give this Logitech Controller a try.Absolute garbage. It seemed cool at first, but after maybe 200 Hours of play, the left joystick went loose and broke. Not to mention that half the time it didn't read my directional controls properly.Do not buy this -- spend it on something else!

4-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST!
Where the cord go i dont no but this thang helped me not get any tangles.i love that thang and its torbo button.Oh and not having to change the battery.just recharge it.if you want to keep your battery life longer then turn of the rummble and get a little bit closer to your PS2.I hope that helped.5 stars!
(...) says peace out!

4-0 out of 5 stars intec wireless controller
I did exhaustive research on wireless controllers and decided on this one.It ended up being an aweful purchase.First, it takes 12 hours to charge the battery pack that it comes with. When the battery needs to be recharged, you have to remove it from the controller rendering it useless, until the battery is recharged, and currently you can't buy a second rechargeable back up.Any information suggesting AA batteries will work is false.Second, the handles on the controller are a little fat making it difficult to use the L1,2 and R1,2 buttons and the two joysticks, especially if you have average to small hands.Thirdly, I followed the directions precisely and could not get the controller to work properly. In any game the screen kept turing right ever so slightly and per the instructions you have to power everything down including the PS2 so you can restablish the wireless connection, which failed.Don't be fooled by its looks, because thats all it has going for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Wireless Controller
Some people say this controller isn't worth the $50 and it doesn't last that long after you charge it. Well I charged my controller for the 12 hours it said to charge it and I've played it for at least 10 hours already and I have not had to recharge it once.I even had a new years eve party and we used it all night long and it worked just as a normal controller would and I could play it all over the house. I have nothing bad to say about this controller, 5 stars by me! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect a lot...
Don't expect your dvds to come out to "like new" condition. You can only get "like new" results from professional type of machines costing at least five hundred dollars.

With that said, it does repair scratched discs so that the movie or the music plays without skipping or freezing anymore. It does leave circular scratch marks, which are made by the buffing pads on the machine. As for the 'cleaning' cycle where you have to use a gritty type of solution, it leaves a hazy film which I think is supposed to be hazy as it forms a protective layer from further scratches.

Use it if you have a bunch of scratched dvds or cds that are skipping and you want them to be playable again. But, don't expect for them to look brand new again. ... Read more
