5-0 out of 5 stars Hacking and Slashing all around...
This is definately a hack and slash game, meaning you have numerous enemies that you rapidly mash the button to defeat. Not that much strategy in the actual battle, although Musashi's duplication techinique may require some strategic timing, and can prove to be a bit frustrating at times.
The story is that a young man named Musashi from Earth's Japan, who will grow to be Miyamoto Musashi, is summoned to another world by Princess Mycella to aid in the battle against Gandrake Interprises. He's taken in by Master Mew and is trained in swordsmanship and battle. When Princess Mycella is kidnapped for Gandrake's own purposes, it's up to Musashi to rescue her and bring down the evil corporation so that he can return to his own world.
I personally adored this game because of the graphics and gameplay. The gameplay is similar to Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel's gameplay, and that's probably because both were Square Enix games. A lot of the square button mashing, and not so much of the "Slash, defend, slash, defend, backflip over the weapon, and a slash to finish it" stuff. The graphics are cel shading, which I find to be pretty darned cool when Musashi's doing his slashing thing.
Overall this really is a game worth getting because of the storyline, the characters, the gameplay, and the graphics. I must also say that the music done by "The Surf Coasters" was very cool, making it worth also gettting the soundtrack. Of course... the guidebook is also always a help in getting all the items and saving everyone also.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rocks!
Awesome game! It's Mortal Kombat! This game has many backgrounds from MK1 and MK2 remade in 3d, and includes Konquest (3d Adventure Mode), Puzzle (Terish-ish), and Chess (Chess but with MK Fighting in the mix).

The characters are a mixed bag.Older characters like Ermac, Kabal, Liu Kang Scorpion and Tanya return and look great, while Sub-Zero and Raiden loo like crap. The new characters, save for Ashrah who's a tough character to fight and Kira, are lamer than hell and have dumb names like Darrius and Dairou, and KOBRA?!?!?!?A Ken rip-off from Street Fighter 2.

Bottom line is, this is a big, fun game and it will keep you occupied for awhile.Grab it!

3-0 out of 5 stars from tlchicken.com, May 2005
Kung Lao, Quan Chi, and Mavado-- three playable characters from the last Mortal Kombat game-- didn't make it into the Mortal Kombat: Deception lineup. However, you can play as Dairou. His fighting styles are Wing Chun (one of Mavado's fighting styles from the last game), Escrima (one of Quan Chi's fighting styles), and his weapon is his Autumn Dao sword (which controls almost exactly like Kung Lao's broadsword).

That pretty much sums up what you get with Deception: a remix edition of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Only six of the eighteen characters from the previous game return for the sequel. The rest are replaced by either lame characters from older MK games (any Tanya fans out there?) or lame new characters that were cobbled together from the leftover parts of Deadly Alliance. There are a couple of fan favorites, like Baraka or Mileena, who make their long-awaited return here, but they're lumped in with the likes of like Kira (imagine if Kano and Sonya Blade had a daughter) and Kobra (the spawn of Johnny Cage and Sonya... she's been around the block, I guess...).

But to make up for the laughably uninteresting cast of characters, Deception's battlegrounds provide the extra personality the game needs. Instead of the the big boring circular arenas of Deadly Alliance, players get to knock each other over ledges, through walls, and into gigantic, over-the-top death traps. A carefully-placed uppercut can quickly turn a losing match to your advantage if you happen to be fighting next to a huge metal press or a pit of acid. One particular level features prisoners who will reach through the bars of their cells to hold your opponent while you get in a cheap shot. As a nod to longtime fans of the series, the prisoners consist of the absolute worst characters ever to appear in a Mortal Kombat game (Stryker? Ha!).

I wouldn't be surprised to see most of the cast of Deception thrown in the cells for the next game, though.

2-0 out of 5 stars deception
this game is such a pain in the a$$ to play that i havent played it in about a month it just gets to friggin complicated

4-0 out of 5 stars It's certainly fun... for a while
This was the first MK title I ever bought, the previews were just too darn sexy to resist.I'm normally more of an RPG fan, so I was really excited about the Konquest mode.I had a lot of fun running around collecting Koins and unlocking stuff, getting tutorials of characters (Karacters, even), and generally beating the stuffing out of all who opposed me.Until I got to Edenia (one of the last worlds) and had to fight an uppity wench by the name of Tanya. This is the first time I had to fight using Shujinko (the main character, all previous fights he does some shape-shift voodoo magic and you use a different character) who at that point has no special moves. Now, maybe I just suck (wholly possible, I'll be the first to admit that I'm hardly an expert), but I can't beat her!I've gone away from the game and come back countless times, and I just can't get past her.The more she beats me up, the less fun the game is.I suppose if and when I ever do beat her my elation will be such that I wish to revise this review and restate my undying love for this game, but until then, I'm gonna have to sulk.

All in all though, it's a way hot game, though Puzzle mode and Chess mode kinda stink.Just stick to the good ol' ass-beating (can I say ass in a review?) and over-the-top fatalities and this game will do you no wrong.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best Megaman x game yet
this game is better than the last x games, but this isn't the best Megaman game ever. The game has a decent diffulculty, but some people may find that they die all the time which may ruin the fun. The game has somewhat decent replay value, but you may get tired from all repetition. Overall, this is the best x game yet and Capcom should keep making all of their x games this good.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is awsome what are you people smoking?!?!?!?
I can't believe you people calling this game a bad game you guysobviously suck at Mega Man games because this X game is a lot of fun. Sigma,Vile just like all times. This is the best X game I think. Anyways get better at games and wright another time K!?!

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't think of a good title
I will start by saying is not as bad as some say. Most they do have a point the spikes that automatic kill are getting old fast. 2 of my stars came the boss battles. Though they names are silly like Optic Sunflower who can't tell is a boy or a girl. A half a star came the music and graphics. They are good don't get me wrong but they are not that important to me. The last little bit came from the villians, the story which I get why the largest elevator is so important, the metals which are expensive but some are worth it, and the longivty because I think this the longest on in the series. I never played x4 so I don't know if this the best. Well is all folks. Later.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better than X7, but the series is getting tiring now
After Mega Man X's glory days on the SNES and X4 on the PSX, it seems that the series can't stack up anymore.Mega Man X8 is a lot better than number 7, but there are some parts of the formula that need to be changed a little. The series has now become tiring, not offereing anything new and innovative, and has now become basically, Mega Man X7 all over again in a different light.

The only truly good thing about this game is that they ditched the 3D design. It failed in X7 and unfortunately, was the only mistake CAPCOM learned from it.

Let's start with the basics, and the only thing we really play Mega Man X for now: the gameplay. It's recycled of course, but now it's just getting old.The Mega Man X series is now over ten years old, and they haven't done much of anything to up the gameplay experience.

The tagteam system is neat. You select either X, Zero, or Axl and go into a level. You select two characters, each with their own abilities.X is good for long range combat, Zero for close range and Axl can hover and shoot in all kinds of angles. You can switch between the two by simply pressing L2.They can also perform a horrible looking Matrix-like combo.Other than this, Mega Man X8 doesn't introduce anything new.

The level designs are tedious and horrific. You'll often times be faced with having to die several times just to memorize where instant-kill spikes are, pits and platform are.In previous games, I didn't have to worry so much about being blind as it was foreshadowed. In all essence, it's annoying.I suffered several deaths that could've been avoided.

The levels also have no innovation anymore. They're too short, and they get repetative too fast.Anyone (and it's actually probably everyone) who has played the Mega Man X series before is finding nothing new in these levels.

Perhaps what makes me the most upset, is that ever since X5 the capsules have changed for the worst.Since X5 finding the capsules has become more of a chore simply because before you can put the armor on you must have all four parts! It's annoying, especially when you don't know where the capsules are.Luckily, they aren't hard to find.It also sucks that Zero and Axl don't get upgrades. At least in this one, you can put pieces of an armor on seperately.

I can't believe how the bosses have changed.Their names are ridiculous now, and they seem to be ripoffs of enemies found in Star Wars and previous Mega Man X games. They can be a challenge, but the rewards aren't worthwhile anymore, and because of tagteaming, they just aren't that challenging anymore.

Also, I'm getting really tired of having Sigma be the final boss all the time.It worked in the SNES days, but now it's just stupid. How many times do we have to kill Sigma before we can just be done with him?And even sadder, the game tries to "surprise" you by making him the final boss.

What a yawn.

The music is fairly forgettable, and the voice acting is terrible.I also don't like Mega Man, Zero and Axl screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" every time they die. With how many times you'll die in this game, it's annoying.

Really, the Mega Man X series is washed up.Yes, this is 2D, and yes it's better than X7.But the heart of the X series was in the first four games. There's nothing new here, and they seem to have forgotten some elements that made the X-Series fun in the first place.

This is only worth a rent. The last X game worth buying was Mega Man X4 on the PSX.Buy that one instead, it's way better.Other than that, the Mega Man Zero series on the GBA is also quite nice.Check out earlier X games, and the Zero series.Much better games.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than the last few games, but still old and tired...
I have to shake my head in utter disbelief at how far the Mega Man X series has fallen from its glory days on the SNES and it's first outing, X4, for the PSX. Then again it's really not hard to see why looking at the last few games, but I can't fathom how Capcom let this happen...

Mega Man X8 does manage to make many improvments over it's prevoius predecessors. First and most notably is the revamping of the tag team system started in X7. Now when one of your characters bites the big one, the other jumps in and continues the fight (which didn't happen in X7), and the ability do tag team moves (which includes a impressive ripoff the Matrix movies due to its look) and revive fallen comrades through use of the attack gauge which fills when you combo, is a welcome change.

X8 also ditches any attempt of going into full-out 3D gameplay like X7 (which we all know was a complete failure). Only two stages (the hover bike levels) break the 2D game with 3D graphics design. The voice acting is also a huge improvement over X6 (which didn't include english voice acting at all) and X7 (which had english voice acting but was horrid).

Unfotunately, these improvements can't hide the fact the rest of the gameplay has been recycled over half a dozen times. Almost all of X8's stages can be compared to level concepts in previous games, which is only natural considering the series is over ten years old, but it's just a little too obvious when you get that feeling of deja vu, or when your asking yourself why your even playing this game in first place.

This feeling is enforced further by the fact Capcom went to the trouble of ressurecting one of the more "classic" and "cooler" Mega Man X villians (I'm not gonna tell you and ruin it for you, but who really cares at this point?) for this installment, but you'll ultimately realize bringing this character back from the junk heap (for the second freakin time mind you!) is just another sorry ploy to arouse player interest and avoid having to put to much creativity and thought into creating new villians. Storywise, X8 has a better plot than many of the prevoius games, but that really doesn't matter as Capcom never really gave any of the X games a truly great story or a twist you talk about for years to come (well they did come close in X5 with the whole Zero thing, but they screwed that up in X6).

X8 is not a bad game, but it definaitely is not a great game in any way, shape, or form. If your just getting into Mega Man X, do yourself the biggest favor (and save some money) and buy Mega Man X4 for the PSX (which is the best game in the series in my opinion, and is a greatest hit - I wonder why that is?) If your a fan, you probably already have that, but I honestly can't recommend buying X8 for it's retail price of $40 (no, wait, $39.95). The game is honestly not worth buying for that much. Wait for price to come down, buy a used one, rent it, or borrow it off a friend that bought it.

Hopefully X9 will be the last game in the series (cause their was only nine original Mega Man games, excluding the Game Boy games and side games - it would make sense). If Capcom is not going to let the game evolve beyond it's tired and true boundries, or even add somekind of two player mode, then I rather the series be put out of its misery that countinue making so-and-so sequels. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Clock Tower 3=F.D. 18
As a gamer who really enjoys story driven games such as Resident Evil, Clock Tower 3, Silent Hill 1-4, Fatal Frame 1&2, and Kuon, I really enjoy F.D 18 alot.F.D. 18 seems to use the engine used to make Resident Evil games.Graphics are very simalar to the games listed in the title of this review.
Only instead of shooting it out with zoombies or battaling ghost or monsters you fight fires.
You start out rescuing peoplein a tunnel. You use a fire hose with 2 diffarent spray nozels and a axe. There is no rushing or running in this game.Explosions will happen at any time and the flames will consume you.Rooms enclosed will be smoked filled and hard to see in.
The game is really fun to play and like I mentioned before, it plays alot like other surrvior horror games.
I'm not sure if I would pay the inflated cost here on Amazon, but if you come across this game at a game store or anywhere eles, it'll be alot cheaper and a definate buy you'll be very happy with.I intend to keep this game for a very long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Get A Clue
I havent played this game yet but i think it looks good. All you REAL LIFE firefighters...get a clue..im a rookie firefighter(Juniorfirefighter) but seriously...that dude with the smoke and ventalation...Serously if they put all that detail in the game it would lag like a son of a b!tch. Besides that the people that made it are game programers not the FDNY ....give them a break..there only human...you people think you can do better then go to the company and b!tch to them..not on here...

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool Game
this game is pretty good except for the long levels and that you cant save in the middle of a level.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is a great game
of all the fire fighteing games i have played this is the best.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad but better than the first series
This was the continuation in the epic Getaway series. First of all not the best sequel, its true the GTA series truley outdone themseleves compared to Team Soho. Now on to the reviews, graphics are decent not much of an improvement from the first game.Story line is alittle better maybe more appealing to some viewers. And i will agree if you want something decent to play not alot of difficulty buy this game, but dont spend over $30.I got this game for 25 and it was decent at most. The worst thing about this game is the camera angle and the enemies they truly dont give much of a difficult fight. One reviewer said u could handcuff 30 enemies while everyone around you is shooting.....sadly its correct. And for god sake's what is the point of being in London if they dont utilize the place. In san andreas and Vice City they utilized the urban history from hispanic gangs to haitain thugs.....In London it completely a bore. Dont expect much from this game, but if u want a good little 2-4 week challenge for the weekends invest in it.

5-0 out of 5 stars biased reviews
beware of biased reviews panning this fine game.they do so probably because its British. It's far better than Gta san andreas.

1-0 out of 5 stars WASTE OF $$$$$$$$$$$
First lets say that this game is not very good at all, i wish i could've spent my money on a stripper or something of that nature, because that would've put a smile on my face, I was pretty excited with the release of this game, all because of the first one, now that was a good game. If you even look at this game you might as well crumple up a fifty and take a leak on it, so if you have half a brain don't purchase this game, and if you choose not to listen to this review and go ahead and buy it anyway, you'll kick yourself in the rear later, and another thing, I wish i didn't have to give it a 1 star rating because its not even 0 worthy

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
That pretty much sums it up. The first Getaway was fantastic in my opinion. It was original enough to be great. Shooting around walls was awesome. Getting lost was fun in itself because I could marvel at London. Say goodbye to that.

Black Monday is flat out terrible. There were some problems with the original Getaway, but I could overlook them as I fell in love with the game. Black Monday fixes nothing, it actually has caused a ton of problems itself.

The first apartment you raid is absolutely stupid. The main problem is that the camera is jerky. You can always see what you need to see, but when you move the camera jerks to follow you. You will notice this right at the start of the game.

Another problem is how easy this game is. Enemies can't hit anything. Even at point-blank range, the enemies don't seem to be able to hold their gun straight. I walked up to about 30 dudes and just handcuffed them. While I was handcuffing them everyone stopped and politely waited for me to finish. The fighting in the game is stupid as well because you just walk up and punch dudes. Occasionaly you can grab them, then turn them around and snap their necks. It is so unbelievably boring.

The worst idea was putting in the crappy stealth missions. They are horrible. EVERY GAME WANTS TO DO THIS NOW! Almost every game I play puts you in a stupid stealth mission that just drags. STOP MAKING STEALTH MISSIONS! I just played Shadow of Rome, and the stealth missions are pure crap. I love Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, but honestly, those are the only times I appreciate stealth. The stealth missions in this game consist of you walking around, occasionaly hiding until a guard leaves. I don't think they tested this game with real people. Had they of done that, they would of been told to take out the stealth missions and kill themselves for making such a horrible game.

London is recreated perfectly. The only problem is, I don't care. Now you have a map option. To me, this is a terrible idea. The whole concept of the original Getaway is realism. Sure, you could buy a map. When you're driving alone though you can't freeze the time continum and take a break to see what road you need next. You will use the map function only to finish this game so you can take it back. I only got 17 dollars for it. I'm surprised they even took it back, seeing as how horrible it is.

The graphics are terrible. Blah blah blah. Everything about this game is bad. I'm just so mad I spent fifty dollars on it. Truthfully, this game is flat out terrible and I don't think they will be creating another Getaway anytime soon. If they do, I think it will be the first game in history to sell zero copies.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid, but...
I enjoyed this game but either found that the missions that are there aren't satisfying enough or that the game itself wasn't long enough.I'm not entirely sure which.I guess that I'm glad that the ending seemed to leave it open for a sequel because I really liked the first game of this series.I hope that ultimately this will just be a stepping stone to a game more like the first. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good UFC Game
If you enjoy watching UFC, this game is definitely a good buy!The game play is not easy to handle at first.Even in the easiest mode, you will get beaten pretty bad if you are not used to the moves, timing, and execution.Overall, it is a really fun fighting game using UCF warriors. It is like having your own UFC and you control your favorite fighters.

There are a lot of moves for each fighter.Depending on which position your player is at (top mount, bottom mount, standing close...you got the point), different moves will be executed accordingly. And the fight is just like in UFC where you could fight on the feet or ground battle (even at the fence). The computer fighters execute beautiful moves sometime so you would wonder how the heck you could do that move!

There are couple weight classes that you could choose the fighters or you could enter the "story" mode to build you own and pick your favorite discipline. If you train your own fighter, it would take 3 years. At the beginning of each year, you have a choice to pick the discipline again.During the training months, you could either choose to train physical strength (endurance, stamina, punch, kick, grappling, etc..) or learn new move of this chosen discipline. After three years, you could use your own fighter to enter other mode to fight with the computer.I have trained and created many fighters but so far I have the most success with the one from the Submission Fighting discipline.Since most computer fighters are mixed martial art, they will strike and eventually take you to the ground. The grapplers will take you to the ground almost immediately in the beginning of the battle.Fighting on the ground is quite hard if you're not used to.They will choke or break you pretty quick and pretty bad!!!

The reason I gave this game four stars instead of five was because of the graphic which is not that great. The computerized characters look about 20% alike the actual fighters. If the computer does not show the introduction, you would have no clue whom you are fighting with!I don't really care about the music or the plot for this game. After all, this is UFC fighting game for Christ-sake.All I want is many fighters to pick, good selection of moves to learn and execute, and great graphic. The only turn off is the not-so-good graphic as mentioned above. Also, it would be nice if the game could keep track of your own fighter's fighting record.I guess next game may be.

For only $20, buy the game and enjoy if you're true UFC fan!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars The BEST UFC game so far!!!
I have played every UFC game out there and this by far,is the BEST!!! More fighters to choose from, better story mode, real time facial damage, and a deeper create a fighter. You now can tackle your oponent from across the ring, beat him up on the cage fence, and sometimes the referee will pull you off your oponent when he's had enough! My only complaints are: needs better graphics, more outfits per fighter (almost all of them are wearing black), blood that will stay on the mat the entire fight, and the create a fighter and moves per fighter should be as deep as Smackdown! HCTP. Fix these minor things and we will have the perfect UFC game. For now, 4/5Buy Now, very CHEAP!

4-0 out of 5 stars An improvement from UFC throwdown
At best, UFC throwdown (the 1st PS2 UFC game) was a 2 Star because it was a duplicate (perhaps worse replication) of the original UFC for Dreamcast. This version however is a vast improvement in my opinion. It still isnt as good as it could potentially be. Being a huge MMA fan I'm glad they are still making these games though it's a lot funner than any other kind of fighting simulation out there and a whole lot more realistic.

The New features that are an improvement over UFC throwdown:

Actual damage will appear on the fighters where they are being attacked (cuts and bruising on the face and body)

New positions in the game are side mount, Standing grapple up against the cage, and a new brutal looking position, it is a mount with the opponent crunched into the cage sitting up akwardly. There are also some updated fighting techniques for all of the fighters that they more commonly use in the ring presently.

There is better music when fighters are comming to the ring although their enterance body movements are very robotic and in their basic standing mobility i believe the game series took a backwards step.

There are new fighting modes such as Story mode where you create a fighter and go through a career of fighting.

Another fighting mode is called CHAMPION ROAD, THIS mode was definitly an improvement on the series I won the championship belt with Matt Hughs in his weight division and then i was able to take on challengers for my belt in another series of matches called LEGEND MODE. This is definitly fun, I will have a lot of fun winning the belt with all of my favorite UFC fighters. On a side note you actually get to carry your belt into the ring with you on your enterance when you are a defending champion, I liked that.

Ken Shamrock is in the game and so is Dan Severn, have your favorite old school warriors go at it one more time!

The game is definitly worth the $20.00. You can't beat the value you get from this game and the replay ability it has to offer for that price. If you were thinking about getting this game JUST GET IT!!! You cant be dissapointed with the price it's at.

5-0 out of 5 stars ufc sudden impact is the baddest fighting game buy it now
I just bought ufc sudden impact and it rocks but I wish people would stop comparing it to pride fc I think ufc has an edge because it has more modes then pride fc and well I think pride fc is fun but ufc is the baddest fighter ever

3-0 out of 5 stars ok for a budget game...
This game feels like I'm playing a beta. The game engine is not very well polished compared to Pride FC.If I HAD to buy a game with UFC fighters in it I'd get this game.

If this game was not a budget title it would get a 2 out of 3. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is the PS2 espionage action game Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty with new playable characters, new VR missions, and a few twists. More than 350 new and moderately interesting VR missions fill in some of the gaps in the original game's story. There are also five separate "Snake Stories" that act as new missions. These take place apart from the main story, making them feel less like an expansion to the sprawling events in Sons of Liberty and more like an unconnected romp designed to pad the original game. Unfortunately, the "Snake Stories" lack the thrill, tension, and exposition that made Sons of Liberty so special.

The "substance" is nothing more or less than a collection of disconnected additions to the core game Sons of Liberty, which remains unchanged from its original release: you play as Solid Snake in stealthy espionage/assault missions, infiltrating the lairs of bad guys to take down nuclear-powered bipedal creations called Metal Gears. Snake has all kinds of tricks up his sleeves: high tech weapons, the ability to sneak around undetected--he can even flip over the side of a railing to hide (a "Grip Meter" counts down, increasing the tension and making you pray the enemy walks away). Both a boon and a detriment to the game is its reliance on cinematic scenes to further the convoluted plot. They're well-rendered and professionally done, but you'll seemingly find yourself spending more time watching the game than playing it.

Substance is worthwhile for anyone who doesn't already own Sons of Liberty. That goes double for Xbox and GameCube fans, because the game looks much better on those consoles than it did on PS2. For those who've already played the original, this reissue just doesn't add enough, pardon me, substance, to merit purchasing it again. --Bob Andrews

Pros:

  • New modes and missions
  • Graphics improvements on Xbox and GameCube
  • Skateboard mode on PS2
Cons:
  • New content too sparse for players who already have the original game.

3-0 out of 5 stars good movie....i mean game
You've heard plenty of good things about this game already, so here are the bad. I hate the very tedious Fatman level!!! Final battle sucks! Could have used a female playable character instead of Raiden. I've been replaying this game for a long time now, and I still hate the Fatmal level!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fully Loaded
I LOVED MGS2 and thought this was a GREAT addition. For any TRUE Mgs fan this is a no brainer. The extras here are pretty darn good! Yeah the skateboarding is VERY gay but the game's extras are WELL worth the price here. The new Snake Levels are WELL worth the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Sence American Game Ever!!! This Rocks
This is the best American game ever. it makes sence other than any other stupid American Game. the Japan people who made this game did the best. I rate This The best 1# Japan/American game ever. Other games are stupid and don't make sence like this one you know what's going on and follows the story. ALL METAL GEAR GAMES MAKE SENCE AND ITS LIKE IT REALLY DID HAPPEN. SOME AMERICAN GAMES DON'T MAKE SENCE THATS JUST STUPID THEY SHOPULD CHANGE IT. JAPAN GAMES RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very Welcomed addition to my PS2 Arsenal
This is one of the coolest games I've EVER played. Of course, I was sceptical for the first 5 minutes of play, but once you learn the controls, you'll be gaming for ages. It's just got a great mixture of Fear and ambition when you're playing the game. There is nothing like standing in a locker and having 6 enemy soldiers run by, It really gets your heart pumping, even after 3 months of play!

I have to be hnest, I really didnt think I'd like MSG series, in fact, about a month ago was the first time I had ever heard about it. And I can tell you, What a world of fun I have been missing. Really I played Substance to fimiliarize me with the controls and kind of get a loose idea of the stuff that will be in MGS3:Snake Eater. My main reason for trying out this game was the much awaited Snake Eater. (By the way, there is no question I will buy that)

First of all, Hideo Kojima is a GENIUS, this guy is a master at making games, and any game he makes, I'm pretty much going to buy from now on. His storylines are great, the action's good and he knows what gamers want to do in a game.

Alright this game has AMAZING graphics, and everyhing looks so real. Like being shot at, you hear the bullets go wirring past your head and hit pipes, that in turn vent out steam, it's just amazing. You can tell Kojima doesn't mind going that extra step to please you.

Here's a Break down:

Graphics- 15/10 top notch, very real and reactive invironment.

Gameplay- 10/10 the controls are very naturaland once you learn them you're set for life.

Difficulty-9/10 not the hardest, but at times, it's a headscratcher.

Fun- 15/10 A lot of fun to just go on a rampage with a USP M9 and shoot up the Russians.

Overall- 49/40 This game is worth every penny.

This is a really awesome game, that no one should miss out on,an instant favorite and welcomed addition to any PS2 game library. By far one of the best games ever.

I recommend playing it and getting a feel for it before you rush out to buy Snake Eater, besides, it's fun and worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Metal Gear Solid Rules
Metal Gear Solid 2 rules.Konami has down it again. It has some of the same classic characters like Snake, Otacon, and Shalashaska(Ocelot Revolver). My only complaint is that you have to play half of the game as Jack Raiden. He looks just like a girl.I will always prefer Snake over the new guy... or girl, whatever Raiden is.I don't think this game is as long as the other one, but its still long.I am a hardcore gamer, and can usually beat a game within 3 days to 2 weeks. This game took me a little under a month. This game is cool but I prefer the first MGS, reguardless to its animation and graphics.Still this game is right up there with SOCOM, Halo, and Star Wars KOTOR.I wish they would make movie about MGS.And a reminder to all fans of mgs, MGS3 Snake Eater is coming out this fall. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not realistic
Unfortunately many of these games are not realistic. The only way to get that kind of experience is in a real cardroom or playing online. If you are going to play online, make sure you visit a site like www.gotbonus.com for more information.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not great but certainly worth the price tag
First off for the record i can't get enough of Poker, and this game for the most part is exactly what i wanted in a PS2 game. I don't plan on playing this online (lets face it there are alot of better online options then any console game could ever deliver) but as an at home single player game it's certainly a solid game.

The game does have a couple problems which keeps it from a better score though. Most importantly the computer controlled characters can be a little predictable (very few real players check as often as the A.I. does in the game) and i wish there were alot more options for types of games such as five card draw.

However despite those problems there is much to like such as the huge 60-100 person tournaments and the ability to track your long term success and build a bankroll.

A great practice tool for the beginner or the more experienced player and a nice relaxing change of pace from alot of the other games i enjoy playing.

If you love poker how can you really go wrong for $20?

1-0 out of 5 stars A Waste of Money!!!!!!
This game is a great How to Play learning guide because of the variety of Poker Games available but let's face it. Everybody is playing hold em these days. The offline play is horrible on it's most difficult setting. The play of the AI will never make since. The only place to have fun with this game is online and that has continued to do nonthing but get worse. I've completely stop playing this game there are just too many other free options that move alot quicker and it's easier to get games started. Setting up a game or finding a game to play in is by far the most difficult task and I'm almost never successful setting up one online, I'm always joining someone else game and sit & go's are never available. This game has a ton of potential should they choose to make another version for next it could be great. Possibly ad some multiple table options made be just what they need to do make hosting and joining games easier. They need to look at their internet competition and beat them. Online is where it's at for real gamers of any sort and this games online interface is horrible. Not to mention win you bust a player an a high limit the player simply shut's off his machine as not to lose the money he's played on choosing to record his positive earnings. There's no way to make people play the game the right or sort the good player from the bad player by virtue of their bank roll. Ex. You start a game with $100,000 and lose it, just turn off the game reload your character and bame theirs your money. This pronblem wrecks the gameplay not to mention what happens when that person is the host if the server doesn't migrate correctly then the entire game is fragged.

This review: was inspired by a review written on gamespot where the writer praised the online play. I was so appauled that I had to write a response everywhere I thought it counted. While you can find a game online with WCP alot of the time you are playing somene else's.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid Game - If you like Poker
If you like Poker and the different variations then you will most likely enjoy this game. The customization of your character is pretty detailed and a nice touch.Other reviews have stated the game is too slow, I have not found this to be true.I would say the pacing is just about right.By tapping the X button you can move things along if you are out of a hand. Sit and Go games and tournaments are fun.Only gripe I could come up with(this is a amatuer level) is that computer player checks too much, keeping me in hands longer than I should if I am fishing for a card.A raise might have forced me out.Maybe at the pro level it is more agressive. Do not play online but I can guess it would be fun, but if just playing at home I still recommend. If you are trying to satisfy your poker jones this is a good start.

1-0 out of 5 stars the long and boring game
if ya buy this game hoping to learn any new games like texas holdem don't get it. it is too slow playing after you loose your hand beter to buy the casino game not as much detail but plays faster more enjoyable this plays till the other characters play down to 2 players and it gets boriong watching it not like watching on tv. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars monster hunter
in this game you would first create a character and when you finish creating that character you cant change it.
you would first start out in a village .you could do Quest like gathering items or slaying monsters. you could create weapons usig items from items that you have gathered.you could go online using the Network Adapter and play with friends and do quest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Capcom struck a winner
If you think capcom dosnt make good games then you need to check out this game. It should be the best game of 2004. Lots of fun.If you dont like games that take for ever then i dont think you will want to get this game. Rent it first. If you have broad band then i highly sugest this game. I here people get this game and 2 or 3 others for themselves but only play monster hunter. It is because it is so adictive to play. I cant seem to put the controler down. There are so many twists.

Even if it is a great game it still has flaws.
Flaws:
-no multiplayer offline
-the camra is not the best
Greats:
-Online is so fun because you can do even more stuff then offline
-monsters have weaknesses too
-there are so many weapons and armors it is hard to get them all

So overall I give it a strong 5*'s.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best game of 2004
Nothing is better and more addictive than Monster Hunter. If you get board offline then, go online and never be bored. I play it all the time. So just go and play it.

3-0 out of 5 stars A game with great potential but also with nasty flaws
Wow, impressive. I wonder how many games that Capcom has made that, while being great and all, have some nasty flaws that'll drive you nuts saying "They could have easily fixed that, why didn't thay?" Not to say that MONSTER HUNTER is a bad game, it's acually pretty good, but the things that are/aren't in MONSTER HUNTER will make any smart gamer say "What were they thinking?" To start off, You are just a normal villager who's on his/her way to become a monster hunter(notice I said "his/her," you can customize your hunter before the game starts). You get money, and sent on your first quest. During a quest, you are allowed to search for items for selling or combining for money or other, stronger items. The item creation system in MONSTER HUNTER is deep, very deep, so deep that it adds replay value to the final game. Also during a quest, you probably won't become used to the controls for a while. Why? Because they kinda suck, you use the right analog stick for attacking with downstrikes and jabs and slashes. This isn't anything like Metal Gear Solid 2 where you push the right stick to make Raiden slash that way, pressing left, right, up, or down will only make you jab, slash, charge, or smash whatever's in your way. Plus there's no targeting system which only makes things harder and more frustrating. The camera sucks too, it's set to the d-pad and unless you're blessed with two thumbs in one hand, it'll be hard to play with much precision. There's a good amout of weopons to choose from, and weapon types. You can make armor and weapons that you get from monsters. This game has a lot of potential, but too bad the final game came out like this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Monster Hunter; Capcom at its Best!
Monster Hunter is a awsome game. Its the only game i play. I got Rachet and Clank 3, Prince of Persia 2, and Monstr Hunter for christmas. But i havent even touched those games and stuck with Monster Hunter through out this whole year. Its the best game i have. Heres a review;

Monster Hunter follows along the footsteps of your custimized warrior who... hunts monsters. You get 2 do quests of all sorts;

Hunting [Hunt a cerian monster/s]
Gathering [Seerch for certian item/s] &
Capture [Instead of hunting and killing, you hunt and then capture the monster alive]

The game itself has very fantastic graphics during gameplay also during the very few cut scences. Also another great part of Monster Hunter is once you take down a monster you can carve it, taking body parts from the monster which later u can use 2 make weapons, upgrade your weapon, craft armor, or sell. The game is very crafted in all the different combinations of armor u can get. So no 1 will look just like u. Monster Hunter is a MUST HAVE. GO OUT AND GET IT NOW. and for some reasson u dont like this game there must be something wrong with you.

Note* 2 all u gamers out there.
I cant wait till Monster Hunter G comes 2 the U.S. if it ever does. And if it doesnt then i'll wait till the sequel. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ..wow
The 2nd best smash em' up car game on the market and this game only has 4 reviews? Must be a sleeper hit..? This game is 2nd to Burnout 3, which has been dominating the whole car-crashing-arcade driving franchise. This game is simply awesome ( especially 2 player Red Rover, that kills me. )

I would HIGHLY reccomend this game!

5-0 out of 5 stars This Racing Spectaular Has Everything
it has demolition derby figure 8 trailer races oh lord when i buy this game im afraid to ask what other crazy events await me in this chaos and mayhem game

5-0 out of 5 stars As goofy as racing games can get
This is the best racing game!I love all the different games that you can play.my favorite is the chain race, which is when you pull some idiot and his car behind you with, duh, a chain! They also have trailer raices, which you pull a trailer behind you. There are also school bus races, soccer games, whip around races, and last man standing races. And of course, there is old fashon demolition derby! One of the cars you can pick is a Herse. There's even a coffin in the back!Ha ha ha!

5-0 out of 5 stars best racing game ever
most fun I've ever had on a racing game I especially like the demolition derbys

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S CRASH-A-RIFFIC !!!!!
This is, without a doubt, the most enjoyable racing came I've played since the original "DESTRUCTION DERBY" for the PSone. I loved playing that game, because as the race progressed the track would become littered with the crushed hulks of the cars, black smoke belching from the engine. It was so much fun. And now this new "TEST DRIVE" game has the same insane fun factor and more cars, tracks, unlockables and bone-jarring crashes than any demoltion derby nut could want!

One thing I love about this game is that, unlike other racers, coming in first in the events is not what you need to do to advance through the game. You instead are rewarded for hitting your opponents - HARD!!!! - and/ or knocking them out of the race (called Kills in the game). The more crashes and kills you rack up, the higher your reputation rating goes. And that is how you unlock cars, tracks, video footage of real derby doings (those guys are nuts!!!), and feats ( such as being able to shoot live chickens out the front of your car that explode on impact - sending chicken feathers all over and any unlucky opponent flying into the air or off a cliff ).

There is a large selection of cars and some fun, special vehicles like school buses ( almost indestructible, my favorite car in the game being the rainbow colored bus ), a mail truck, ambulance, taxi and a hearse complete with a coffin in the back ( the red one is called "The Dead Sled") .

The tracks are nice and the race events are way cool! There are so many different types of events, you'll never get bored. There are figure-8 jump races ( in the center there are jumps and the cars fly into the air often crashing with the cross traffic ), forward-backward races ( one lap driving forward, the next backward ), suicide races ( half the pack goes in one direction, the other half in the opposite direction causing many crashes and smashes ), flagpole races ( twice a lap you must drive around a flagpole before continuing ), demolition derbys, push-offs ( like the demolition derbies, only you get extra points for each car you knock out or push-out of the circle ), and on and on.

In action mode you can pick your car, how many races you want to do at one track (1,3,5,7) and which ones (very nice!) and then go out and run your opponents off the road!

In career mode you start out with a little junky car and not much cash. You must enter into events, earn reputation points and cash, buy new cars ( fasters and more durable ) and eventually become the top ranked driver. It is loads of fun, believe me. You will have a blast!

The graphics are quite nice. Doors fly open, hoods are torn off, cars burst into flames, black smoke billows out of their wrecked engines - all to some fine haevy metal music.

I've been playing this game almost every day since I bought it and don't see myself growing tired of it anytime soon. In fact, as I buy new games to play, I believe that this will be one game I'll keep coming back to again and again for a crashing good time!

I know there are other really BIG racing games coming out soon (GT4, MIDNIGHT CLUB 3, NFS UNDERGROUND 2), but don't let that make you ignore this smaller title. I believe any car nut/ racing fan will really enjoy this game and have a good time for many hours. In short, buy it, you'll like it! I know I did. Can you tell? - George Bauch. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have/Must Give
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!! If you have a friend, loved one, associate or even know a random associate who is at all interested in Rugby, you owe it them and humanity to encourage them to get this game. Heck, buy it for them. For those who have played every other sport title and are looking for a unique sports sim to conquer, prepare for hours of enjoyment and challenge when you pick up Rugby 2005. This game combines realistic plays a variety of bone crushing hits and tackles and sizzling graphics and gameplay to make a complete package. Various game modes and players make this game a hit. Most sports titles get boring and even obsolete after a few weeks but Rugby 2005 will drag you back to your game console time and time again. If you don't believe me try it...better yet get the opinion of the rugby fan you get this title for.

5-0 out of 5 stars The first rugby game ever!
As someone who has owned every so-called rugby game ever released, I have to say that EA has surpassed their own brilliance and given us the first rugby sim which captures the intensity and continuity of the sport. I had begun to doubt that it was possible to bring this complex sport to a gaming format but I was in owe when I saw the playability and realism that this game has to offer. In its genre there is no competition for this game and I hope the EA guys working on the new FIFA2006 has seen what can be done with a budget which is less than a tenth of theirs.
Whether you like rugby or live for it as I do, buy this game. You will not be disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars Rucking great!!!!!!!
As a passionate rugby supporter and player, this version was a huge improvemnt on the version released in 2004. It is extremely challenging. The graphics are also very good and it is obvious that time has been put into recreating world famous stadiums to the very last detail, as well as the teams around today.
I definately recommend this game for any person, interested in this sport.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is multiplayer FUN
First off, I'm a long-time fan of the X-Men. I've always loved it, though I had to stop the comic book habit about ten years ago when the costs of keeping up with it interfered with pesky things like rent. (Heh) I've never stopped enjoying the X-Men universe though, nor it's characters. So when I hear that there was finally a *good* X-Men game out, I was super interested.

This game was just fun. I got it for Christmas and myself, my boyfriend and another friend played together. We just finished it tonight. We're pretty casual gamers, but we could easily lose three or four hours in a stretch on the game without realizing it. You just want to keep going.

The mutant powers are fun. And building them up and seeing how high they get is great. My favorite character has always been Jean Grey and she's always either missing or terribly underpowered in previous X-Men titles. This one, she can really build up and be a strong character on her own. By the end - we spent a lot of time in the Danger Room gaining experience to max out our characters to level 45 (though you can't fully max out all skills you can come darn close) - I could fling just about anything with the telekinesis, use the psionic scream to push, damage and stun enemies not only in all of my room, but through nearby walls, fly, carry another person when I flew and even shield myself and all my team mates. Super, super fun for an always underrated character.

I wish there were more games like this. Multiplayer and just plain *fun.* Yeah, some moments were hard and we didn't know what we were doing wrong, but it felt good to figure it out and get past it. Thankfully, a sequel has already been announced and the ending hints at who the Big Bad will be in it. Sign me up; I'd love to have more of this to play.

This game is really best as a multiplayer experience so get together with your friends and have something to regularly look forward to playing. You'll really enjoy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars X-Men fan of the 1980s
As a 34 year old, I am old school when it comes to the X-Men. I liked Prof. Xavier's second team (Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, etc.), but I also liked the original 5 members. Well, this game satisifies me on both those levels and I still haven't finished it.

My daughter (6 years) loves it as well. She has been a Nightcrawler fan since seeing X-Men 2 and has Nightcrawler on every mission she ventures out on. I, myself, have come to realize that you pretty much can not venture out without Cyclops and Iceman...their mutant powers are often required to overcome environmental obstacles and in some cases, the scenes have time limits - making it a hassle to go back to the save locations, where you can change teams. You'll find Wolverine will probably always be on your team as well...he's just that good of a fighter. Currently, I do not have Colossus (my childhood favorite) as a selectable member. I generally find Storm or Rogue fill my 4th team member spot best for me. I do play all characters though routinely, as I build up their levels. Magma, so far, only goes on training room missions, but MAN is she a pretty cabable character.

You'll probably love the 4 special power features each mutant has. I know I literally experimented one day with each character to see what they all were. Nightcrawler can turn invisible, Rogue can drain the enemy, Wolverine can go berserk, Storm can send various weather problem to one side of the room...etc.

The game is fun, but I find it really easy. Mystique, Blob, Toad, and the Sentinels were beat in a heartbeat by me. I will admit Pyro put up a pretty good fight and actually killed two of my team members, but don't freak out...they can be revived. While the game is easy for me - it is far from that for my 6 year old. I find myself virtually playing for her...but I am not complaining - lol.

Easy or hard...I highly recommend this game. It's great!

5-0 out of 5 stars This aX-Men games for the generations!!!
Of course I only mean for solid gamers cause if your a giver upper like my friend take a second about getting this. My advice is you should rent it first, but for me renting a game is spoiling the suprise. This game took me total of 2months. I didn't give up though. The plot is amazing follows the story froms different types of X-men comics to make for an amazing tale of legends. The Graphics I like cell shading I don't know about everbody, but they sure did capture the X-men look and feel right down to wolverines fury. If your looking for super fast attacks and speed I won't say this is perfect, but the gameplay is pretty fast. The attacs remind you just of X-men and there qualites and iceman is over used. The game could of last longer. It will only take you about 30min to get use to the controls. So if you like X-Men and wan't to take them home get cause with all famous characters, and the great story this will give you a blast.

3-0 out of 5 stars really hard
i have been an xmen fan for a long long time and i cant say that i really like this game.it is very fun to play but very very very hard and you have to unlock all the characters.for instence gambit is my favorite character and you have to unlock him on the third level and the levels are so long and hard, like the sewer level(third level) farther within the sewer level there will be so many enimies that you will find your self in a life or death run for it to the door to the next part of the level and when your doing this running for the exit with about 35 enimies on your tale theres a 30% chance you will make it.

and when your not on a mission you have to controll a girl mutantnamed alison(magma)

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a holy game and it came from heaven.
Well to start you all should know that there is a total of 15 characters in all and you start out with Wolverine and the rest you have to unlock and you know who the rest of the characters are because of course the other reviews tell you the rest of the characters but besides that you should definitly buy X-Men Legends and well i'm done with that and now to the rating I will give the game the things I will review is the gameplay, sound,Graphics, and the camera well lets start the gamplay 5/5,sound 3/5,graphics 4/5,and the camera is good I would give it overall a 5/5 but I only beat two levels so far because I only got to play for a little bit and when you beat the first level you unlock 6 more characters but thats all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars DIRT TRACKIN' FOREVER!
WOW,This game is awesome. Hell with NASCAR, Dirt is where its at!
Power sliding thru the turnsand pulling wheelies down the straights makes this game the best racing one i've ever played. Can't stop playing it.Hope RATBAG makes future games with sprints or modifieds with guys like Pauch, Horton, Hearn, Brightbill, etc.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Why I bought PS2
I am a big fan of "The World of Outlaws" and when I heard this game was coming out I went out and bought a PS2.I have yet to get tired of this game, endless fun and the best career mode to date.

4-0 out of 5 stars The most intense racing game I've ever played!!
This was received as a Christmas gift back in December 2003, with the impression from the giver it wouldn't be received too well.Being a dirt track racing addict, having played Dirt Track Racing on Windows 98 by Ratbag, which this, in addition to Dirt Track Racing 2, must be made for a Playstation 2 (hint, hint) to keep the other dirt track addicts at bay; this game has every element a racing gamer demands. The graphics are outstanding, realistic sounds of the announcer, engine revving, crowd noises, options being numerous, and I just can't stop playing it.If your thumbs aren't calloused and numb, forgetting how to blink your eyes, and experiencing sharp pains in your palms, arms and your lower left side of your body because of the "leaning left syndrome" after a couple of hours of racing your custom sprint car, then this isn't the game for you.Racing games are supposed to be just as white knuckled induced as the real thing and this fits the bill.I can't describe how incredible this game really is. It's so good that I haven't even opened my other Playstation 2 games yet. You have to try it yourself, either by renting it first before you purchase it or buy it outright, to be a true believer as myself. So, you'd better get it now before it becomes obsolete and hard to find.

5-0 out of 5 stars WoO Fun
I love this game its fun and easy to control the car. I own the PC version first and think of the two this is the best. the people at RatBag did a great job at this game. Real tracks, real stars, real fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best game ever
Being a passionate race fan and driver of a dirt track stock car I have good experience and judgement to compare any race game too. This game is the closest to real life experience I have ever had. I literally haven't taken the game out of the machine since I bought it (8 months ago) and don't plan to until they release another Sprint Car or Dirt Stock Car game. (Hopefully with online capabilities) If you are a race fan or race participant at any level you must have this game. You will be blown away. GT3 doesn't come close. ... Read more
