5-0 out of 5 stars Family fun
Our family has "tournaments" every night. This game is amazing.I highly recommend it...it's fun for all ages!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nicktoons: Movin
In comparison to other Eyetoy games like Sega Superstars (see my other review) this title by Nicktoons is excellent!!!The game loads as expected and all the games, although quite simple to play, are fun for the kids.Well done to Nickelodeon and I hope they develop further titles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
This is the first game we've bought for our Eye Toy and it was definetly worth it.There are 13 mini games all featuring Nick characters. Some of the games are pretty easy and even my two-year-olds can play, others give Mom and Dad a challenge. The room does have to be VERY well lit and a nearby wall in the background helps too.If anyone should walk behind you, they will automatically be "in the game" also.Anyway, we love it, lots of fun to watch and play.Fun for all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars hilarious
"Movin" has many mini games that put you in the action (literally) with the PS2 EyeToy. Very innovative, very engaging. Not hard to set up.

Had tons of fun playing the games with friends and my children. It's fun to watch players waving, moving their arms to play the games.

I could see this taking over board games as the "go to" entertainment option when friends come over. For kids and grown ups with a sense of humor. NOTE: helps to have a well lit room to play in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exelent Game
I've had this game for a couple of month's now. It's a great game overall, there's really nothing wrong with the gameplay, audio graphics and it never gets boring. The only thing that could be changed and was changed in sly 2 is that you don't really have any freedom in roaming around the enviroments. I reccomend this game to anyone but you should buy it with sly 2 and the upcoming sly 3 (Supposedly coming out in fall 2005)

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow What A Great Game!!!
This is a great game!!! It is easy for anyone to become addicted to! It is one of the very few games that I have gotten all the way through. If you are looking for a GREAT game for PS2 grap Sly Cooper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great action game
Sly Cooper is a game that could have easily escaped all notice- at first glance it probably looked too cartoonish to some older gamers, and the game play may have turned out to be a bit difficult for some kids. The game evidently took off though, and its success is certainly deserved, as its a very entertaining gaming experience. The gameplay is basically "linear" - you run straight through the missions without a lot of side missions - but the graphics are so impressive it seems a bit more complex. The game looks great, and gameplay is challenging without being maddeningly difficult (with the possible exception of finding some of the bottles).Overall, this game is well worth checking out, along with its more complex sequel.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sly Cooper pulls off a slick operation...
I first saw previews for this game in a magazine and thought the "cell-shading" graphics looked cheap and unprofessional. By the time the game came out, I couldn't wait to buy it. I recieved the game as an A Honor Roll present, and it was excellent. The graphics are incredibly smooth and all-out amazing. I now actually prefer this style to the traditional 3-D graphics. The shadows amazed me.

I loved to play this game because the controls are so easy to master it makes you feel light and quick. Many a time I felt like I was a light-footed, smooth-talking raccoon. Certainly, Sucker Punch achieved the thievy, quick-like action Sly should have. Another thing that amazed me was the storyline. The characters are perfectly placed and make you see the "bad" thieves because Sly is evidently a "good-guy with morals" deep down. Sometimes very deep down. The only thing was that I wanted more! The game really wasn't as long as most other games. Finding all 30 clue bottles in each of the levels wasn't extremely difficult, although some gave me trouble. Also, the music is exciting and intertaining, unlike so much of the annoying music we get on other video games. My personal favorite music was on the Panda King's domain :) The time trials were challenging, but not so impossible like collecting all the precursor orbs on Jak 2 and Jak 3 (bleh).

I was extremely happy when Sucker Punch came out with another excellent game, Sly 2: Band of Theives. I would strongly suggest buying both of them, as the first one is a kind of introdution of all characters and getting Sly's book back, and the 2nd is more involving with a much more complex storyline. Both of the games were excellent, but this one just wasn't long enough. 5 stars for the pure fun and excitment, 4 stars because it was just a little too short. Another thing, you DO NOT need to buy any guides whatsoever to complete this game. Have fun exploring all the interesting worlds that Sly visits on his exciting journeys.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like it
Sly Cooper is a sneaky raccoon who is trying to steal back his family's book, Thievious Raccoonous. He has to go through dangerous challenges to get back his family's book. He is in love with Inspector Fox. She is a fox who is after Sly Cooper. Sly Cooper is a fun game. I enjoyed playing it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I cant even play it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OKA lot of peopl ear ecomplaining about how the game sucks & how the game is terrible...but I cant even do that..

Why????

Because it wont even play on my playstation!!Yeah... I thought when i bought it the first time it was scratched or something... but i bought it again & again.. .& it still doesnt work...Not till i went to an actual store did i find the problem.

The clerk told me the BLLUE discs used ror some playstation games dont work on older playstation 2's! I take really good care of mine so i dont have to buy new consoles every few years.. but cmon...I cant even play the game to see how bad it is... thats lame.

2-0 out of 5 stars Its OK after a little editing
First off, this game has NO replay value, is not hard at all and the Dinosaurs are tame as a dog.I myself have never had an unintentional breakout, the Dinosaurs tend to drop into a Coma before trying to break out.The Site B mode gets old twice as fast as the normal Park Builder mode. There are sites out there with guides on how to make all the Dinosaurs available, and then make it possible to make hundreds of Dinosaurs, I've even made it possible to have 300 fossil teams. In theory you can edit the game to make Dinosaurs more aggressive. The other downside, no flying Dinosaurs and Dinosaurs cannot reproduce (Which is a huge downside in Site B mode). The in-game messages boarder on Game Spam, and when visitors leave your park unhappy, you get a message that says they left, and for what reason, but not how to fix it.

In short, this game would have been better with some more work on the part of the Developers, the visuals are excellent, but the gameplay fell short.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Jonathan here. I was happy with my game atleast until I decided to go on the internet and look up stuff for the game. Befor I did this though I didn't like the way you could only get 9 Dinos. When I entered the internet I relized I could get 15 or them all. So i was very dissaponted with it. So if you want a good game get Jurassic Park Operaion Genesis for COMPUTER OR XBOX NOT I REPEAT NOT PS2. The game also on Xbox has advanced graphics with a day and night period and with a advanced Spin attack when under water. Also the Pc has day and night with the spin attack and a hidden dinosaur model, the igunadon, in the files. The computer also alaws you to hack. The only disadvantage is you don't have as many cheats. But the cheats can easliy be done by reading instructions on websites and hacking. The Xbox version has the same cheats i believe as the ps2. So if you want Jpog get the Pc or Xbox.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible
This game is the worst jurassic park operation genesis. I would recommend the pc or xbox version. Yes u get 25 dinosaurs to CHOSE from but not to have all at ONCE. you can only get 3 dig sites oh lets see in every dig site u get 3 diffenrnt dinosaurs so a total of 9 dinos in a park. Thats right 9. In xbox u can get 5 dig sites so 5x3=15. Plus in the pc u can hack and then get ALL thats right ALL dinos. Plus dont hack and get 15 still. The xbox also has days and nights. Ps2 no day or night. pc i don't know but probley. Xbox and pc way better graphics then ps2.

4-0 out of 5 stars good for a bit
this game is really good for a bit but after a few months it gets more and more boing . the idea of it is to make a park full of dinosaurs and stop the visitors getting ripped to shreads( thoutgh that is half the fun) this game has a downside which is that you can get 3 dig sights out of 9 so you to amke a new game to get different dinosaurs L1 up L1 down L1 gets you 10'000 dolars. id buy this game if you like jarrasic park and if you dont just rent ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Solid gameplay with a (mostly) realistic feel
If you're looking for a game that makes you feel like you're actually playing or coaching college basketball, this is a pretty good game to get.The game is, for the most part, accurate:

* The arenas all have the right names (as far as I've checked), and if you're playing in a high- or mid-major team's arena, the court is a good facsimile of the real thing, but teams from low-major conferences are generally given generic courts with the team's logo at center court.

* All 31 Division I-A conferences and their teams are in the game, but if you're looking to play as Savannah State or TAMU-CC or any other independent, you're out of luck.

* Season schedules are set up randomly (of course, nonconference games can be changed, although teams can reject playing against you). The number of times you play against each team in your conference is correct, at least (i.e. if you are in the SEC East, you play each team from the East twice, each team from the West once).

* You can edit each player's physical features, name, jersey #, and so on, but the hair choices are very limited (no afros, Adam Morrison hair, etc.).Also, you can only save about 275 player's names into your roster file (at least that's the point where my PS2 would always freeze when I tried to add anyone else's name).

* The crowd noise really doesn't seem to be too distracting once you get used to it.If you play against, say, Duke at Cameron Indoor, the crowd will be fairly noisy as long as Duke is ahead, and the camera will shake a little, but after a while it's not very noticeable. Also, unlike NCAA Football 2005, there is no way to manually intensify the home crowd. They just get louder when the home team makes a shot and quieter when the road team makes a shot.

* Dynasty mode is good, with the following exceptions.1) Players commit violations way too frequently, and this makes it fairly likely that if you don't suspend players for several games for each violation, the NCAA will sanction you at the end of the season.2) The amount of recruiting points you have seems to be too small. You can set how you want to prioritize training vs. recruiting, but when it gets down to you wanting to do everything you can to land top recruits, you often have to use up a lot of points just finding out how good various recruits are and trying to get them interested in your program (especially if you're not a big-name program).Otherwise, recruiting is fun and it's a good way to make you feel more like you're a real coach with a real program that you need to develop and maintain.

* The game does include realistic conference tournaments (i.e. the brackets are set up correctly), and the locations seem to be realistic (i.e. the major conference tournaments are played in a no-name arena, while the 2005 West Coast Conference tournament is played at Santa Clara, which is where it was played if I recall correctly). The NCAA tournament has similar realism, with games in the 1st and 2nd round played in generic arenas, and the regional semis and finals played at Texas-Austin, Syracuse, The Pit in Albuquerque and DePaul near Chicago. The seedings are not always realistic, however (during one season, UNC Wilmington was able to get a 5 seed), but teams mostly get the seeds that you would expect, based on their performance through the season.Once February starts, there is an option called Tournament Watch which shows you who the automatic bids are from each conference as well as the probable at-large teams and bubble teams, and gives the RPI for each of them.

As far as gameplay, I have a few more comments:

* If you are used to the EA Sports style of gameplay, this game should be comfortable.ESPN's College Hoops has a very different feel, and it takes some time to adjust in going from one style to the other.

* It is a lot harder to score on this game than on NBA Live.If you have a very quick team and are going up against a weak opponent, you probably can run fast break after fast break, but in most games you will have to run plays from the Floor General playlist at least occasionally. You can still do basic things like posting up, running a pick-and-roll or an isolation just like on NBA Live, but they often don't work quite as well as on Live.

* If your (computer) opponent has a decent big man, expect to get blocked a lot when going to the rim. This happens particularly when you try to run a fast break.Unless you have someone who can dunk with authority, the computer will get an inordinate number of blocks (same problem exists on Live).

* The Floor General playcalling is a great thing to have, although on easier difficulty levels the plays will be successful too often. On the hardest difficulty level, the computer will sometimes not be fooled and block what should be a wide open shot coming off of a screen. The flip side of the playcalling, of course, is that once you get used to your opponent's plays, you can tell what he's going to do and try to neutralize the play.

All in all, I love this game and have played some 200 games and still going.I suppose that's as good a recommendation as I can give.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Cane's Review
As a huge Canes fan, I really looked forward to the 2004 version of this game (Carmelo on the cover), because it would be the first with our brand new Convocation Center. It disappointed, though, as the arena in the game was clearly patterned after the Convo, but lacked its feel and was actually still called the Miami Arena.
Anyways, all that has changed for 05. The stadium looks great, the only flaw being that ACC isn't painted right below the free throw line, and our cheerleaders seem to be wearing blackish-green. But those are so minor compared to how well they rendered the building. Plus the gameplay in general is so much better than 04, and if you start Eric Wilkins at the point (instead of Okpalobi- Anthony Harris is a middling reserve) you have a fighting chance of competing, because he can finish at the rim when he penetrates. Or he can kick it out to Mo Diaz or Rob Hite for 3s.
But... I would advise against buying the game. While the Dynasty mode is great, it has one major, huge flaw. After my first season, one in which I finished 4th at 9-7 in the conference, beating UNC, GT, and Wake along the way, not only did I not make the postseason (justifiable based on my weak non-conference record), but I was inexplicably booted out of the ACC in favor of Louisville (while none of the SEVEN teams below me lost their spots).
While I'm sure that in spite of our success this year, the ACC bball fans would still love to boot the Canes, this was ridiculous. And considering how much I've come to love the conference, I just couldn't keep playing the dynasty without being a part of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars best college game ever and best game this year

5-0 out of 5 stars Want to Quench Your Thirst for a Good College B-Ball Game?
6 seconds left...you call a timeout..its the final game of the final four..your team (the team you play religiously with) is down 2 with the ball at halfcourt..2 point jumper to tie or 3 point J to win the game?..You resume action..nerves running through your hands..you press a button on your d-pad..you option to run a play to get your best 3 baller open..you want the victory..you inbound the ball..turn..set yourself up for the shot..and...you brick the shot off the side of the rim and lose by 2...Dissapointment?..Well, yes and no..I simply love this game for the fact that you dont just wildly run a rampage down court with one person, stop a little in front of the half court line, and swish the shot while being guarded by 2 defenders. I have experienced this in the other college basketball games ive played/owned and it ruins the thrill of the game..When i can effortlessly beat my opponent 150-5 at any given time, its pathetic. The controls are tight yet not too hard to learn..i've found this to be true on all three systems also. The graphics are stunning and make the game feel like a real experience (besides the fact they made Patrick Sparks black. LoL.) Everything about this game outshines its competitors. ESPN College Hoops was horrible in my opinion simply because the controls were way, way too sensitive. If you barely tap a button your player goes wildly out of control among many other control problems. At 20.00 you could waste your money on that game or for 30.00 you could purchase a game that will have you more excited than Dick Vitale at the championship baby!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Good - Get College Hoops Instead
I have played all college hoops games of 2005 (March Madness, Final Four, and College Hoops). This one is, by far, the worst.I can't stand the controls, gameplay, or camera. One of the few things in this game is the realisticness.

Gameplay 4/10: The actual gameplay is pretty bad.Unfortunately, the cameras are terrible, and out of all the games College Hoops has the best camera (2K5 Broadcast). The fluidity is rough and it seems like its one of those vibrating tables. To me, it resembles something you would see on a SNES (fluidity wise). The shots are good (the way they shoot and the way the net moves) and it does show you the plays. But one HUGE flaw, as I said before is the camera.I have tried all cameras but they all suck.

Controls 3/10: I can't stand these controls. They are poorly set up throughout the controller and could have been much better. They need to fix this, for sure.It seems like I have to go through a lot of work to shoot and rebound, etc.

Realsticness 7/10: The game is pretty realistic. Not only in graphics but also in the players actions. Such as when they are shooting, it looks very real. Also, when they are on defense it seems realistic. This is one of the best features of the game, but can't make up for the other bad features.

Overall 4/10: I really dislike this game.Maybe if they fixed the camera and controls it could come close to College Hoops. So, if you are planning on getting a college hoops game, don't get this one.Either get College Hoops or Final Four. But out of all of them I would suggest College Hoops, Definitely.

NOTE: You can see my review on College Hoops by going to my "About You" area or searching fot College Hoops. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DEF. WORTH THE $$$
First off, i did not buy the Sony brand cable.I bought a Madcatz brand one for $14.99 from Gamestop (thats all they had).I bought this cable because i recently bought a new tv that supports component video. It is NOT an HDTV so i didn't expect it to make a huge difference, but boy was i surprised!Games/movies were sharper and the colors were richer.Def. a noticable difference.I can only imagine the quality you would get if you had an HDTV.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1080i in GT4, the only way is with these...
If you want to experiance something awesome play GT4 with these component video cables and your surround sound hooked up with Driving Force Pro as your controller. You can try out this setup at Best Buy right now. If you have an HDTV and you have 20 dollars by this. Regular SD games look crisper as well. You won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! for FFXI the difference is awesome...
Now I can say I am playing the game! the cable literally opened my eyes to the definition of the colors and images of the game... I am using a flat screen Samsung TV and game looks awesome! {Component Cable} {Can I have it?} {Yes, Please}

5-0 out of 5 stars Produces a Great Picture.
Prior to buying these component cables, I had been playing my PS2 with composite cable, connected through my VCR.The result of this: soft, muddy, and dull graphics. After purchasing Final Fantasy XI for my console, I heard quite a few times how the PC version is far superior visually.I had enough of my inferior video and audio experiences, so I purchased a new televsion, and these cables. The result: CRISP, CLEAN, VIBRANT images. The first time I turned on FFXI with these cables, the difference visually was as clear as day.The various imagery in the game, from trees, rocks, the sky, the terrain, and the characters pop out and are very well defined. They all seem to have the depth that I was missing all this time. The text present in the game has also become much clearer.I am proud to say that I can now enjoy this game at the same level visually as PC gamers enjoy theirs. My PS2 has gotten a major face lift.

3-0 out of 5 stars AV ComponentvrS/Video
I just bought the component AV cable from a 3rd party company and already has the S/video cables (3rd party too) . I've read that AV component it's much better than S video, and tha's why I bought it. But is not!.AV component seems to be a little better than standard AV cables (RCA). S video gives an extraordinary brilliance to images. Video Component looks opaque, maybe Monster cables works better. In summary:
1- S/Video
2- AV component
3- Standar Av cables (rca)

Could it be 'cause they are 3rd party. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Kessen is back!!!
i'm a big fan of the kessen games. this game, however, is diffrent. They've combined the strategy of the kessen games with the action of dynasty warriors. the controls seem simple, but don't worry about it, because you'll learn to love this game just like the others. and, as an added bonus, they put in TONS more levels, which was the only thing that dissapointed me in the first two games. Though the game may have simple A.I. and simple gameplay, I still like it almost as much as the first two. i hope you like it!

4-0 out of 5 stars A strategy game like no other.
Honestly I don't know what to expect from this game. The writups say that it's quite different form the original Kessen games and there's more button pressing than your usual strategy games. To me, playing this game feels like playing Dynasty / Samurai Warriors at large scale.

Controls:

Instead of controlling a single soldier (like in DW and SW), you control a whole unit and your unit attacks each time you press the square button.Pressing and holding the triangle button charges up your unit for a unit-specific super attack.Releasing the button will lauch the attack. (If you are attacked while holding the triangle button, the damage to your unit is doubled)The circle is used for activating officer skills (these skills are similar to the previous Kessen games). The X button is used for retreating. The L1 button is use for guarding from enemy attacks and reforming your ranks. The R1 is used to launch cooridnated attacks with other friendly units near by.

While you control your unit in an arcade-like fashion, your other units can be commanded by setting targets and behaviors (like the original Kessen games). You can switch from one unit to another, whenever you feel manual intervention is needed.

Officer Skills:

One neat officer skill is "Rampage Mode", this lets the officer attack the enemy ranks alone (similar to the previous Kessen's "Raid" skill). This time it zooms into the map and the gameplay changes to something similar to Dynasty / Samurai Warriors where the controls are similar.Square = normal attack, Triange = strong attack, Circle = Kessen Attack (similar to Musou). The object of rampage is to kill as many enemy soldiers within the time limit. The number of soldiers you kill will affect the number of enemy soldiers in Battle Mode. You also have a chance to defeat the enemy officer.

There are several items that you can equip.Weapons, helmets, armors, horses, books, accessories, troop types. But the best thing about this is that you will see your officers actually wearing the armors and helmets in the battlefield (something that the other Koei games do not show). You acquire these stuff from battles and you can also trade them with a merchant in the Political Phase.

Cheesy stuff:

Of course the game is not perfect.Koei games are known for awful english dubbing and this game is no exception.Your units do not act natuarlly in the battlefield as they move exactly in unison and always attack at the same time at the press of a button.

But the game is fun overall and has a good balance between strategy and action. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun, amusing game.
I am a teenager, and I really enjoyed this game.In Dogs Life, you control a dog, Jake, who is trying to find his friend. If you win some of the games, you can control another dog for a limited amount of time. Here are some of the pros and cons of the game:

Pros:
*easy to move Jake around.
*if you are bored, you can always collect smells
*you can meet and talk to different people
*you can use or not use a memory card and it is fun both ways

Cons:
*is not really that inappropriate to be rated teen
*you sometimes have to find items for someone like eggs or batteries and that can get a little tiresome.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Fun
((This is actually Barb's daughter, but I'm over 13 so I didn't want to use the kid's review form...))

This game is really fun!I just got it today in the mail, and I was plesently surprised, when, after a few hours of playing, it showed that it's not just one of those you can beat them in two hours kind of game.Of course, everyone's level of video game playing is different, but so far I'd guess I'm only 1/3 of the way done. The missions aren't impossible or frustrating, except sometimes if you don't know where you are, and you can always choose not to urinate (and the like) if you don't want to.

The controls are easy to use, except for maybe the different 'special' type combos, but those are soon memorized. The 'smell-o-vision' is a key factor in the game, as I think it's been mentioned before... Once in this mode, you collect different colored scent clouds, and also, sometimes there will be a glowing pillar of light; I'd suggest checking those out ;).

Depending on the number of bones you have (which you receive by completing missions and the like) different dogs will react differently to you.If you have less bones, the dog may act aggresive, and you might not be able to get into some nifty spots. But if you have more bones, you are the dominant dog, and thus the other dog yields to you; usually. As long as you have a good number higher bones than the other dog.

All in all, I'd give this game a 5 out of 5 stars; it's really fun!

*A few player-to-player hints; to get clean, you can just take a swim, then climb out of the water and shake off.A few shakes, and you're as good as new!Or, of course, you can just go to the Poodle Parlor, or other places like that, though I'm not sure where or what they are, if there are any...
And make sure when you're searching for scent clouds, you look ALL over, and I mean everywhere. You never know where they might be :).*

5-0 out of 5 stars Best kids game yet!
This is one of the best games i've played! Esrb was a bit harsh when they gave it the t rating. When you poop you can see the poop and you can pick it up again! You can chase chickens and cats and annoy people by barking whenever you like! The only bad part in this game is that although the graphics are great you mouth doesn't actually move when you talk(Imagine that! A talking dog!)and when the people talk there mouths move in a simpsons hit and run fashion. Altogether this is a great game with so and so graphics.

5-0 out of 5 stars a great game!
this game is sooooo good! I don't care if it's rated teen, 'cause there is no violence, just a little crude humor. I've finished the game twice, and my little sister(who is six) likes it alot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Here are some cool hints for you!
1. If you want to get clean but there is no groomer around, just go back and fourth into a river and keep jumping into it. You don't get as clean as the groomer's but it works.
2. At the chicken farm, to get the papers the guy want. use the bulldog and go into the chicken coops.
3. In a race against another dog, if you get behind, jump forward and get ahead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tekken 5 is the best
The only thing I think Tekken 5 needs is more characters to unlock and more characters to fight in story mode. The final boss in story mode is very hard to beat, depending on which character you choose and how good you are with that character. The final boss in story mode is challenging because when I fought him the first time, it seemed like he slowed down time around me and i could barely move. Then he punched me to the ground and stepped on me, and when i got up, he blasted me with what looked like a giant fireball and killed me.

5-0 out of 5 stars l33t arcade stick!
tekken 5 in itself is the epitime of fighting games, what with the amazing graphics and simple to learn interface, but playing on a normal controller can feel small and imprecise. with the bundled Hori Arcade Pro, it feels like your at the arcade; identical buttons, joystick, everything!

and you can use it for regular games too!

at 100 dollars, its a steal for both items. the stick alone is worth that. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A game to rent and try out first
I realy liked this game.I've never played the others but i remember watching the tv show.Everything in this game was great.Except i would of rather like itfor the characters to talk so u dont have to read. Also i wish that monsters would stay alive longer cause me i like to get them good leveled up to like 200 b4 batteling. And the main character....The real mystery is he male or female?.. I would of liked it if they would have had a option of characters to pick from and they put great work in the graphics of the monsters but not so much on the main character. The training gets very very boring but its so freaking addicting I keep traing.I reneted the game and got to the third town but now i cant rent it for a while. :(
But over all a great game but some would rather rent to try out first.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fourth version is great
The game returns to it's former playing style (Rather than following MR-3's style, it's more like MR-1 and 2).The graphics are a nice 3D environment regarding your character, the monsters and the battles. The chat/shop modes are flat anime style drawings, however the characters do have facial expression changes during the appropriate moments of chatting.

Whether you're a seasoned MR breeder or new to the game, the fourth version will be easily playable while still offering challenges for us "old timers".The larger your CD/DVD collection is, the more likely you are to get more monster choices. The game will walk you through "extracting a monster" from your discs.Computer discs, music CD's, DVD's, and game console CD's are read by the game at specific points and will display a monster held within for you to keep or not.

The interface (the yes/no options) are a bit tricky, be careful when clicking through to speed text up as sometimes it will click "yes" when you're not ready and tend to destroy a battle or result in purchasing an item you really weren't ready to spend your money on.

The music is nice, low-key, and fits well with the scenes. The monster models are excellent, very cute.Their animations while training/fighting are well done.

All in all, I love the game despite the minor issues with the interface at times.I am a long time MR player, so I was already hooked before I ripped the plastic off the case. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars probably the best in the series
monster rancher was the reason i bought a playstation instead of sticking with my sega genesis and nes.i have now played all four playstation games in the series, and monster rancher advance 2 for gba sp.i like the increased number of moves that i can have available in battle, training multiple monsters at a time, the new adventure system, doing adventures and battles and things on weekends instead of taking up training weeks, the more realistic look of the monsters, training gadgets and placing the house and barn and such.the only thing that i didn't like was having to be a premade character.in the other games, you could choose your gender and you name.i can still choose my name, but i have to be that kid.i know that in other rpgs you have to be a premade character, but i like being whoever i want in monster rancher.they probably did that because you have to have some form when you're running around on the ranch and on adventures, but it'd be better if the character was customizable, or not obviously a girl or boy so you could call it either one.or maybe if you could choose between a male or female form.also, i'd rather not have more of a past than, "oh, so you came from age island" and that's it.oh, and the pixies, at least the ones i've seen, aren't quite as cute in their new, realistic style..still, the good outweighs the bad.another good thing that i forgot to mention is that they brought back the combine feature.that was something i really missed in monster rancher 3.you can combine two monsters to make one with qualities of both.i can't say much about it for this game because i haven't used it yet.you really should buy all the monster rancher games, but if you can only get one then you should get this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Okay, But Lacks Certain Qualities
This game is deffinetly an improvement over the third but it lacks a few things that seperate from the best. For example: Because you can now hold up to 5 monsters on your ranch at a time, you'd think the designers might give you more vs. data slots. But they don't, which means that you can only have one full party of monster's data, plus one monster! Also, when your monster has to be retired, you can't save your vs. data so your stuck with what you have saved in the past.
Training in this game has improved dramatically with the introduction of training gadgets. You can customize your schedule so you don't have to fiddle around with the controls every week like in it's predeccessor.
Once you finish your training you have to go to "weekend activities" and choose to either enter a competition, go adventuring, go to town, or go to the next week.
The all new 3D adventuring in this game is amazing, walk around 4 levels, that you have to unlock as you go through the game, and search for treasures, do goals, or just try and get your monster a new move. You can also unlock the ability to fly, or ride on your monster.
Now about the battles. Your monster can now hold up to 9 moves, plus you can press any button you want, not just the button that's high-lighted, like in MR3. Also, when your monster does a move that annoying black screen, that shows up in MR3, doesn't show up. The second you hit the desired button, unless your monster is disobeying you, the monster does the move. What a relief!
Going to town is also a cool thing. You can go to 4 different towns and talk to people. You can also buy food, and items for your monsters at the item shop. I won't reveal any more of the game, but I will say, this game is deffinetly worth getting!

4-0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR EVERYONE !!
This game looked cool so I rented it for my 7 old son.Glad I only rented. My son knows how to read but what 7 year old wants to read for 15 minutes before you can start the game? There is too much reading in this game.I played it and I didn't like it. If I want to read I will get a good book. I give it 2 stars because I quess some people don't mind reading.I like all game play. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An upgraded disgaea
I loved Disgaea.I haven't played La Pucelle Tactics yet, but I picked this game up.

I love it!It's just like Disgaea (some people might think that's bad), but you know, upgraded!Interesting new features are the ability to confine your phantoms into objects on the battle map. It's extremely customizable that way, and if you confine wrong...well...you are probably going to lose.

Otherwise, the ability to combine items with characters to give different abilities is really cool.

THe storyline is a bit linear so far (I haven't completed the game yet), and Marona can be a bit aggravating because of how she acts, but oh well.

If you like Disgaea or La Pucelle, pick this game up.It's not as hilarious as Disgaea, but it's still a great game! It's a bit more serious.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great strategy game - plus soundtrack audio cd
If any strat games have interested you before, this one you would love!..No grids, witty comments, complexity, it's here.

Limited Edition includes audio-cd soundtrack also!

4-0 out of 5 stars It's not Disgaea
But if Disgaea didn't exist this game would get five stars. The 3d point of view is excelent and adds a fresh new look to the strategy RPG cannon.

I love the variety of spells and skills and there is so much to explore that this game will give easily over 100 hours of entertainment.

The story is weak but it's really only about 10% of the game. Most of the game is really played in the random dungeons so you don't have to suffer through the predictable story adventures over and over.

All in all it's a great game but if you don't have a strategy RPG for PS2 pick up Disgaea first. Also get the strategy guide for this one it's completely worth it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Creative
So I have to say I was slightly let down by LaPucelle tactics and was hoping they would make a comeback with the next installment, they did...relatively.
To look at the game graphic wise it is easy to say that they are slightly outdated taking you back to the days of Ogre Tatcics or Final Fantasy Tactics, but I think that having them this way fits the personality of the game to a "T".
The actual combat system is VERY unique.Instead of just choosing your characters at the beginning of the battle like all other "tactic-like" games you start every battle with Marona, the main character. It is up to her to "confine" various items found throuhout the playing feild into playable characters. The only downside to this is they have a pre-set number of turns that they are allowed to stay on the field before the disapperar until the next battle. This can get very tedious especially later in the game.
Now on to its slight downfalls. The actual story isnt that bad but it gets muddled down into tiny episodes on how the main character is in outcast but it is all right with her cliches and you can see them coming a mile away.On top of that the voice acting isnt that great. It seems like the actors are just reading a pre-set script rahter than putting any emotion into it.Lastly there is also this very cheezy narrator that pops up at the most oppurtune time to inform you on the innner feelings of the characters, think of your kindergarten teachers voice mixed with that of Michael Jacksons.
Overall though it is a highyl enjoyable game with great elemnts and strategy to it, 4 stars because of the story.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cute RPG with interesting combo-ability
Phantom Brave is a story-driven RPG broken into 20 chapters. In it you play Marona, a 13 yr old girl who can talk with phantoms. She goes on quests with her phantom-pal Ash.

I have to say I was disappointed with the graphics in this game when it began, as you sit through the entry cut-scenes involving Marona's parents and Ash. Both parents die, leaving Marona an orphan at age 5. You then jump forward in time to her at 13, living alone on an island with phantom-pal Ash. The island is her home which she hopes to someday buy. In the meantime, she works with her phantom friends to solve problems for people. Unfortunately, while some people need her skills, most resent her for her strange powers.

The graphics are on the cute-anima-short-people side, much like Ragnarok. The backgrounds are a bit blocky. The sound is also on the cute side, with bouncy music humming along.

The RPG aspect of the game is actually quite interesting. In most RPGs you just get one or two friends to travel with you. Here you get a wide selection of phantoms to work with, each with his or her own skills. You can name the phantoms and really build a party that works well with your gaming style.

Not only do you have phantoms to work with, but you can "confine" objects on the battlefield and use them as weapons. Each item has its own special skills - and when you merge an item with a given phantom, the combination can range from so-so to truly incredible based on the match.

Strangely, while much of this game seems very much geared towards kids with its cute look and feel, there are also scenes of blood-dripping monsters, characters yelling out "what the hell is this?" and words like "blasphemous" being tossed arond.

The in-game help is reasonably good and while it can be confusing to get started, once you get the hang of things it's not hard to work with your party and move through the levels. On the other hand, the game starts throwing around characters, groups and political situations without much introduction. It's the type of game that may seem quite confusing the first time through - and only begins to make sense when you play it the second time around and know the players and factions.

The game is pretty heavy-handed with the "everyone picks on the 13 yr old" and "she is blithely happy no matter what happens around her" scenarios. There is also a sappy voice-over that comes from nowhere to fill in the details.

A fun RPG for anime fans and those who love playing with combinations and tweaking to see what works best - but be aware of the cuteness / sappy factor. Some people love that ... and some will be drive crazy. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I don't even know where to begin...
I'd rate this a -32 if I could. Ok for the record I don't own nor have I ever played this game, my brother did...and I made the mistake of walking in while he was playing. Where to start, I didn't think it got much more pathetic than Girls Gone Wild (does anyone actually watch that garbage??) but The Guy Game takes the cake. This is what the phrase "mindless entertainment" was invented for, with such questions as how many calories are in a spoonful of semen...come on guys. If you're really this desperate for a glance at the rack of a girl who wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire let alone give you a second glance and you're looking for a reason to pull your pud, buy a Hustler magazine.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lady's opinion on The Guy Game!
Sixty-seven pairs of boobies were exposed by college co-ed hotties for this Playstation 2 game ... and that's not even counting The Guy Game models. That means over 140 breasts exposed! And after you are successful completing a segment, they are uncensored.

I just finished playing it, and like a cross between a "Girls Gone Wild" DVD and that TV game show "Street Smarts," this combines up-to-4 player fun with sexy ladies being bad girls at Spring Break in South Padre.

This is not for children! It definitely earned its "M for Mature" rating. Recommended for all guys ... and hey, if you have a very cool girlfriend like me, you might even get her a little excited if you play it together!

3-0 out of 5 stars Averages out with highs and lows
Saying that there is no nudity in this game (that it is all censored) is misleading. Sure, it's censored (the picture is scrambled or covered by "The Guy Game" logo), but that's only at the beginning. The object of the game is to correctly answer trivia questions and move up on the "Flash Meter." Once you hit the red area of the "Flash Meter", the nudity becomes uncensored. And let me tell you, it's worth the wait, because once the nudity is uncensored, there are some super sexy scenes.
But the game, like all games, has it's high and low points.

Pros:

--There are some super sexy scenes
--You may learn a few interesting trivia questions
--The game show host may make you laugh a time or two
--Good game to play at parties or with a group of guys.
--It proves that being smart DOES pay off.

Cons:

--Time consuming
--Difficult trivia questions
--Requires little or no talent/skill
--Degrading to women
--It will become repetitive and somewhat boring
--It's less like playing a video game and more like watching a movie that occasionally requires pressing buttons.
--May make you feel dirty.

So, this game averages out with it's pluses and minuses. It's funner to play this game with a group of people (so one of you might know the answer to the question). The bottom line is, if you're looking for a raunchy, sexy game full of nudity that requires little or no talent, or you're looking for a good party game, pick this game up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, fun & sexy party game! Get your friends together now!
I have to say that all those guys out there, writing bad reviews on forums and message boards, must either be gay, or just not into having friends & parties, because this game is as fun as anything ever seen on Playstation 2. And in this day and age, it's not only for guys ..... play it with your girlfriend or with friends who are girls -- maybe they'll show you something, who knows?

The ESRB's "M" for Mature rating tells it all and doesn't lie. What you'll see here is strong language, nudity, and lots of laughs -- mostly due to the dumb girls who don't know answers to simple trivia questions. This is not for children, not for ultra-conservative types, and not for virgins.

But all in all I'd say that if you get your friends together for this game, you will have a blast with the trivia and the mini games, working to beat your friends and see plenty of T&A in the process. We need more fun, sexy games! Don't believe the haters, and give this one a try!

1-0 out of 5 stars one of the WORST games i ever played in my life!
this game is one of the worst games i ever played in my life! and i played the SMURFS on playstation! even the theme is bad. answer questions to see girls flash? how lame is that! very BORING! this game is just like watching street smarts on tv. and the theme is supposed to be, to see girls naked in a game? NO! this game is like watching street smarts and howard stern! boring theme, and the nudity is CENSORED? if they censor it why do they put nudity in there in the first place? theres no point of playing a game that mentions (girls get naked) and its always censored anyways. just like howard stern, i would tell howard stern, "theres no point of watching a show with nudity if its always censored anyways." if theres any nudity in the game at all, its CENSORED by either scrambling the picture of the boobs or covering them with "the guy game logo." definely NOT worth the $40. worst game i ever played. i would rather play JEOPARDY than play this! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good for more than just entertainment.
I've got to be honest, this game has been more entertaining than probably the last three games I've bought, not that they were bad though. The funny thing about these kind of games (so long as you're using a light gun) is that they improve your accuracy with firearms. It's no substitute for real shooting, but then again, how often do you spend hours shooting probably thousands of rounds like in these games? Now, on the game itself, the graphics are good enough, but the arcade style makes it look... well, not real. But then again that is part of what gives the game it's charm. Buy the game, and a light gun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Two words...LIGHT GUN!!!
This game is FUN, especially if you are a twitch gamer who has a few anger issues (me). The game is basically suped up duck hunt but I don't know why it is SO MUCH FUN.The story mode is great fun and can be finished in a manner of hours if you are good, the challenge mode is very challenging, the unlockable crisis mode is probably the most fun I have ever had sniping in my entire life, and to top it all off, if you have another guncon... Can you say MULTIPLAYER.Also, if you aren't aquainted with time crisis but are with other light gun games there is one BIIIIIIG difference.Instead of desperately plugging everything that moves and preying you get it before it gets you, you can hit one of the buttons on the guncon (or release, depending on your control style)and take cover behind an object nearby. But as with every game... there are drawbacks. For one, if you don't have a guncon and don't have the money for the version w/ the guncon then you have to play with an awkward blue reticle that is INCREDIBLY slow.If you have a larger TV then you cannot hit enemies on the sides (at least, I couldn't).You have to calibrate the darn guncon every time you boot up the game and if you calibrate it wrong then you have to reset the ps2 and try again. The graphics aren't the best on earth. The storyline is wierd and hard to follow (But no where near as bad as kingdom hearts, SHEESH!!!).There is the incredibly tedious hookup process.and if you have a smaller TV...Let's just say you are gonna have to be three inches away from the screen to spot some enemies.PLUS the multiplayer split screen is TINY, VERY VERY TINY and if you want to play like the arcade, you need a ps2 serial link cable(From what I've seen you cannot link two PS2s Via network adapter, sowwy) TWO guncons, TWO TVs, TWO Ps2s, and TWO copies of time crisis 3.If you ain't got the dough you ain't gonna go!Although it seems like the bad outweighs the good, there's just something about nailing terrorists right in the head with a stream of lead that just feels oh so good. This deserves a definate 5 out of 5.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ah.. the Arcade...
I always begged my parents to play this game in an arcade. Finally my endless begging has come to an end!Time Crisis 3 is probably one of the overall better games for the PS2. Just like its arcade counterpart, this game is a blast to play! The graphics and sound effects are exactly like the game we're all used to playing... Maybe even BETTER!!!!! Some people complain about the cramped split-screen 2 player function. However, they left out the fact that you can connect 2 PS2s together and play on seprate screens...Just like the arcade! Overall, this is an excellent game that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a new and fresh experience.

2-0 out of 5 stars gameplay -- no marks, story -- no marks.
Really, am I the only one who felt that the game had severe storyline issues on top of the terrible mechanics? The plot itself was bizarre and incoherant, and the additional characters they added to make it run were completely flat and uninteresting, even by video game standards. One in particular -- whose name I shall not name out of respect for spoilers -- was enough in one package to flush out any interest I might have had for the story. As a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, I hated this game. As a fan of fighting and roleplaying games, I hated this game. As an excuse to waste a few days laughing at the dialogue and the general WTFness of some of the scenes, I admit that it had its moments... but not enough to justify buying it.

2-0 out of 5 stars To cartoony
This game is ok it had a good plot to it and a good basis for the battles, but just wasnt my type of game I would of perferred the battles to be more turn based instead of live action. It wasnt a game id name a classic but maybe itll be different for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars This game is #1!!!
When I just started to play I was already addicted to the game. The bosses look good(exept for that ugly boss that cammila makes in the end) and the story is perfect. The best part has to be the fighting style. Its very easy to fight any enemy but some need a certain type of weapon to do great damage and almost all the bosses don't require a complicated plan. Sometimes you might get lossed(you might get lossed a lot in the cave and in New Hiessgart Castle) but you normally find your way out in 10 minutes. All around this game is very fun and very addicting and it is my favorite game right now and I reccomend this game to all Full Metal Alchemist fans out there.

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the money
I, myself, am addicted to the game.. I'll admit, it wasn't very long, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. The plot is good, the fighting style exciting. If you're the kind of person who enjoys strategy games, but doesn't like spending hours on one problem, this is the game for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Game!
More for you hack and slash hack and slash people. It's not like there's no strategy in it though. Alchemy is needed is various places, and it's always useful to know how to beat a boss character without losing 10's of elixers.
The storyline in itself is awesome. If you're not into the game within the first hour or so, you probably won't like the rest of it. The only thing I might warn you about is the cave. If you're hating the game because of the cave (you'll see what I'm talking about later) don't quit. This place was the most frustrating place out of the whole game for me, so don't feel bad if you need a loooooong break when you're stuck inside it.
The gripes I have about the game though... It was a bit too short. It took me 12 hours to finish the whole game. Of course, I probably skipped 100's of treasures, and I got horrible alchemist levels...
The storyline more than makes up for it though. If you don't at least feel like crying at the end of the game... were you watching the whole time?

Overall this was an awesome awewsome game that everyone who's a FMA fan and everyone who just wants an amazing game to play, that doesn't involve incredulous amounts of strategy.
...Keep in mind that this game is rated T for Teen for language and suggestive themes among other things. Emphasis on the suggestive themes on one of the costumes one of the people wear. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars a very good game but gets kind of Repetitive
this game is one of the best rpgs i have ever play with the the plot so Impressive but, here it comes you have to go to dungons over and over agin its sad. the battle sysem is real time so thats great and you get difrent looking wepons but so far where i am in the game no matter what difrent types of armor you put on your out look doesn't change but this is an Excellent game one of the best rpg i've ever seen.

5-0 out of 5 stars YES!!!
YESS!!!!I LOVE THIS GAME!!!I have been a fan of the .hack manga and anime forever, and this game was great!!!

I really suggest you look at the manga and anime before you buy the game.If you don't like that you probably won't like the game.If you STILL insist on playing the game, check it out at the video rental shop, k?That way we dont get people claiming it was a total waste of money here ;)

Oh, when you buy a game it's basically like saying that you are going to play the game in the future. If you DONT play games more than once, yea, you did waste your money.

For those who are pissy about how people liked this game partially because of the anime, you should probably realize that the game was made from the anime. In order to completely get it you have to look over manga, anime, card games etc. Thus, THEY GET IT MORE THAN YOU DO.THE ANIME AND THE GAME FEED INTO EACH OTHER, SO IF YOU LOVED THE ANIME YOU'LL PROBABLY LOVE THE GAME, morons...:(

Also, I bet that the people who despised this game didnt watch the DVD with the game.THAT IS IMPORTANT.Generally when they give you a DVD with these things it'll help you see the point of the game.

Also, after you play the game you should read the ".hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT" manga. It's a cute little manga.Rena, a beginner player of "The World" wins a contest to gain the character avatars of the legendary .hackers, "Kite" and "Black Rose."Rena gets her brother, Shugo, to play with her.Soon after they enter the fields they encounter a level 40 monster which shouldn't be in the beginners area.Shugo is killed by the monster and wakes up to see Aura and is brought back to life by her kiss. Then she gives the braclet of twilight.Actually I suggest you read it BEFORE AND AFTER the game.

4-0 out of 5 stars The beggining of significant and partly innovative series
This game combines elements of quasi real time combat = Diablo like fighting, and Final Fantasy IX dealing with equipment.

The only way to have magic spells is to have equipment which provides it. Once u remove piece of armor or weapon and replace it, old spells will be lost and new ones will be accesible.

You can go through this game linear, without need to conquer random dungeons in order to power up (no side adventuring neccesary). Scrolls like Hanged man and Moon which paralize enemies are very useful.

This game is easy beggining and will hook you on.

3-0 out of 5 stars initially addictive
I bought this game due to suggestions of everyone around me to go buy it. After playing through this first game, I have to admit, although I didn't find the storyline nor the gaming nearly as interesting as many other games, I was addicted. Immediately, I bought the sequel (which possesses gaming almost IDENTICAL to this first game). The storyline was nothing memorable and despite having played both games only two months ago and having watched .hack//sign, I have almost completely forgotten the entire storyline with the exception of the characters that were also mentioned in .hack//sign (oddly enough, I actually found that anime interesting) The monsters and "worlds" are bland, which is the entire purpose as it is simulating a MMORPG. There are too many irrelevant missions into the same repetitive atmospheres and so by the time I was half-way through the sequel, I was falling asleep. Since this first game is pretty much like the first CD in a multi-CD game, if there's no motivation to continue on the second disk then i would have to say that the first disk is useless as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars I liked it.....
This game is very complicated and if you don't know the multiple story lines i sugest you don't buy the game. This is what happened AFTER the Tsukasa's insidents, just to tell you. I havn't finished the game for i had lost my memory card wich was fixed Christmas when i got one so I just restarted but besides that it is quite hard. Saving is an amazingly IMPORTANT thing and that is what i hate the most. If you don't save and die well time to restart back to the last time you saved. Also this story line is very confusing because of how many characters you meet during the game. If you've just started playing i sugest(sp!) that you get the .Hack//Infection Part One Strategy Guide it is very useful. If you're really into anime and/or .Hack I pray you'll get this game for your own entertainment. During the game it's a good idea to keep an eye on your friends you "Party" with because defeating the "Big Bad Bosses" is the most important thing of the game....It's how you win the game. If you still don't get the story line there's a OVA that comes with it so you won't be very lost but you might need to get the other 3 OVA's to get it entirly well got to see if my .hack//sign dvds came BYE!! ...
