5-0 out of 5 stars You Can Finally Win The Game! Great for X-Key CodeBreaker
If you have never used a memory card for your Playstation PS One, then you are in for a treat. They come in Emerald Green, Blue, and Crimson Red. Of course, you can by the standard white. But different colors are cool and are the more updated memory cards for the system. This little thing slips into (hear the "click") the left entry of the Playstation PS One and never falls off.I played Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare, Aladdin: N. Revenge, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire with it and was able to save a spot in the game(s) fifteen times. One spot of memory can be automatically erased by selecting that certain numeral/title for your new spot to save a game, and yet save all other spots too.No need to start a game from the very beginning anymore.Just select the spot you want to begin at.Say youjust finished one hard task on the damn game, and you don't want to do it again. If you picked up an item in your gameplay that is used to save a game or the game lets you know you can save your game now, do it!You will never have to complete that segment again (unless you need to pick up weapons). You can start the game fresh where you left off, or thereabouts.YOU CAN FINALLY WIN THE GAME!I used the PS One Crimson Red Memory Card as an "X-Key" memory card when I use the "CODEBREAKER" for PS One by Pelican Accessories.

Amazing!! What a triumph of technology! I am left speechless by theraw POWER of this little device!
Hey, I was prompted to write a review, so I did!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Old technology
Okay. These is a memory card. You need one to save games. Also, they cost way to much, considering they're at least 5 years old. Also, they're surprisingly hard to find. I'm not sure what's up with that.

5-0 out of 5 stars YES! This Does work with PS2!
To answer A gamerfrom PITTBURG,US's reveiw. Any and Every PS memory card works with PS2. But only with PS games. PS memory cards only save PS games and PS2 memory cards only save PS2 games. GET IT!

2-0 out of 5 stars Usability Issues and Loss of Focus on True Product Value
First of all, let me preface this review with the fact that I was an Interact Gameshark v1.6 user, so I came with expectations that Mad Catz would create a similar product with the same usability standards.

Dislikes...
1.The Intro Movie - It befuddles me why Mad Catz put an intro movie on a game cheat disc that shows up every single time you boot up with the CD.I didn't buy the Gameshark for the intro movie.I bought it because I want access to cheat codes.Hopefully in future versions, they will forego or have an option to disable the intro movie. It's a complete waste of time and resources.

2.The product box and web site are poorly documented as far as product function and requirements are concerned.Although it may be obvious, they should explain that you insert the Gameshark disc, select your desired cheat codes, and then insert the game disc.Because I came from an Interact Gameshark that had a special memory card device, I thought that the new Gameshark would also have a memory card or some other kind of hardware.

3.They also don't list the fact that you need to have a network adapter in order to connect online (although this is obviously to most people).

4.They should also point out that additional cheat codes can be entered. but they require space on the memory card. The first time I tried to enter a new game code, I was told that I didn't have sufficient free space on my memory card.I had 1 MB free, and I thought that this would be more than enough. So I deleted some data from my memory card to make room. However, after freeing up almost 2 MB, the Gameshark still wouldn't save the one additional game code. Finally after I freed up over 3 MB of space, the Gameshark successfully saved the game code. But to my frustration, it used less than 500KB to save the code and left me still with 3 MB of free space!I wondered why it said that there wasn't enough space to save the code before when I had enough free space on my memory card.

5.User interface and navigation is not intuitive, and insufficient on-screen instruction is given to instruct user how to navigate, especially in Expert Cheat Mode menu. The first time I tried to add a new game and enter new codes, I couldn't figure out how to add codes to the game I just added. The screen only had instructions to select, go back, and view options.None of these commands led to the right place to add a new code. Finally, after cracking open the printed user guide, I found out that you need to press the right arrow when you have the game name highlighted.Pressing the right arrow takes you to another menu. There was no such indicator on the screen that would have clued me to the fact that I needed to press the right-arrow button to go to another menu. They should include some sort of right arrow indicator on the screen.

6.Entering game codes via keyboard could be easier. When entering game codes, they could have designed the interface a little better to allow you to enter many consecutive codes without having to go through option menu > add. They should just have a matrix screen that shows all the codes needed for a single cheat so you can see the lines of codes that you have already entered.Sometimes when entering these codes, it's easy to lose your place.Being able to see the last code you entered is helpful in getting your bearings.

7.The on-screen font used to display the codes is not a fixed-width font. All the codes are 16 hex characters in length. But when you enter the codes, the displayed lines are not always the same, so it's sometimes hard to see whether or not you've entered in the right codes. The point here is that most programming tools use a font like Courier to display the code because it is fixed-width, which makes it easier to read computer code, especially hex numbers.

8.The memory manager doesn't tell you the size of each item on the memory card.It only tells you how much space you have free. The file size would have been really useful information when I was trying to free up space on my memory card so that the Gameshark could save my game code.

9.The media player might have been a nice idea if it didn't require you to put the Gameshark disc in the PS2 everytime you want to use it.The intro movie on the Gameshark disc doesn't make this an efficient process either.I wish Mad Catz made a Gameshark disc that just gave me the cheat codes and nothing else.I don't want all this other junk.

10.The Gameshark disc sounds like it has problems reading properly in my PS2.Perhaps this is a bad disc or just a unique issue with my PS2.Although I can still use the Gameshark disc, I wonder if someday my PS2 won't be able to read the disc anymore. It sounds like it is struggling to read the disc.

1.The cheat codes work.

Overall, I wish Mad Catz would forego the 3D graphics and other extras that users like me don't want to pay for. The 3D graphic backgrounds are cheezy, and if they actually paid someone to do it, I suggest that they don't in the future. I don't care for all the extras, just give me something I can use to enter cheat codes. And make entering in new cheat codes more user-friendly. So buy this product if you want to use cheat codes, but I would have considered other products given the opportunity and assuming that alternative products' cheat codes work just as well.

Good luck. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Neat! Great for emulation!
It's practically like turning your computer into a PlayStation (PSX, not PS2) if you follow up with a copy of ePSXe, a LEGAL PSX BIOS file (you'll have to own the actual hardware) and LEGAL games. Now I can save space putting my old PSX away and play on my computer in my room with enhanced features and on my PS2 in the living room. Nice! Heck, I might even try a case hack and put the little DexDrive in the front of my computer's enclosure. LOL I just wish ePSXe read the DexDrive directly instead of having to convert the GME file to an MCR file with a third party utility.

Oh, come on, you know that's what people are REALLY using it for. ;-)

5-0 out of 5 stars If you REALLY CARE about your games. THIS IS A MUST!
For any system it is a must.

One of the greatest Inventions for the systems that need memory cards.

I love this little thing, so on thislevel. where is My Dreamcast Dex Drive now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Is this worth it?
Let me tell you, DexDrive is worth every single penny you spend. Just the memory card on your hard drive feature is worth it. With it, you have unimaginable number of memory card. And with the addition of onlinedownload and upload, it is like addition of infinity new possibilities. youcould download other gamers rpg games, you could show the world yourwrestling character creations, and you could even download GameShark cheatcodes off the net. I have played an rpg for five straight days in a row tofind out my file was corrupted, so I got so discuraged, that I stoppedplaying, but with dexdrive, I downloaded someone elses file at the exactsame location. DexDrive was not only a lifesaver for me, but a lifegiver, Igave files to others who were totally frusterated, and it made them totallyhappy. Trust me, if you own a Playstation, get this.

4-0 out of 5 stars DexDrive is a lifesaver!
With it, I can have *all* the save-games I want - and not worry about losing any of my old ones!Interact really did a great job with this!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a Playstation, then this is a must-have tool.
The DexDrive is the best thing you can buy for your Playstation.Having what is virtually a unlimited amount of memory cards is enough of a reason to pick one up, but the best reason is to swap game saves over the net. That feature can be priceless at times. Before you pick one up, makesure that you have the right serial port needed to plug one into yourcomputer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars AweSome!
I have had and used this card for over 7 years. It is awesome, never had a problem. For the consummate gamer this card is a must. With 480 save slots it means never switching cards again.

1-0 out of 5 stars a waste of money
the major problem with this memory card is durability, after 2 months of use the card starts generating errors and certian pages of saved games become inaccessable, eventually it will function as a single memory card then later cease to function period.you' have better luck with standard memory cards.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your money
There is too many requirements to work ONE card.I saved a Gran Turimo 2 game on it, and the next day, it wasn't there. It erased it. :o(Don't waste your money this card.

This was the first memory card i bought when i got my Playstation. I had about 14 hours worth of Sim City cities built and saved on this card, and a few other games, when it just stopped working. All the files were completely erased. When i pushed the buttons on it the numbers wouldn't even show up.

I would suggest just buying the little 15 block cards. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A very cool color, but dosn't save games all the time.
This memory card is very cool, it's got the color, but it dosn't always save what you want like I saved a Parisite Eve game and I was at the end of disk one, so when I went to load it it said there was no file, but when I went to the memory card screen it was there the logo. I'm just saying that was my second game it didn't save when I told it to save (the game was Alundra 2, I recomend it!!) so you better to always save it twice (overwright to make sure!! But other than that it's very cool.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best memory card out there
this memory card has it all it works it looks cool and it dosen't delete your saved games if you are o buy a memory card by this one

5-0 out of 5 stars The Card !

5-0 out of 5 stars ian's review
the island blue memory card is worth the money. it has 15 blocks of memory and a cool color. i used to have one of these before i sold my playstation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Twenty Bucks, eh?
I own many a Playstation memory card. They're ok, I guess, but they're a little on the slow side for saving and loading. Also, they are incompatible with Playstation 2 games. Even if you could save a PS2 title on one of these things, it would probably take up the whole card, and then some.

Also, these things should cost a lot less by now. They should be more like 12 bucks, not 20.

But on the plus side, these cards are highly reliable. I've never lost data on one of these things, even on the oldest cards I own (which I've had since '97). The generic brands are slightly cheaper, but they have bombed out on me from time to time.

Overall it's a good (and necessary) buy for all PSX owners.

5-0 out of 5 stars how many blocks
How many blocks of memory does it hold???

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong with an original.
There are tons of after market controlers and memory cards for the Sony PlayStation. I am a hard core, die hard believer that when buying memory cards or controlers for your PlayStation that sticking with the original equipment is always the best idea! You just can't go wrong with it. Great product and really cool colors now too!

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugh!
Okay, I'm online looking for a new playstation memory card because I've had this one since I started playing RPGs (and that was a few years ago). It sucks. That is all I can say. You restart your game and it will just turn the page on you. It shouldn't take a whole lot of complicated button pushing in order to find your saved data. I've lost countless games this way. I don't know WHY I haven't gotten anything new up till now. I guess I'm just hoping one day it'll start working properly, besides the fact that I haven't been playing many PS One games lately. Anyway, I'm online today looking for a new memory card because I felt the need to dust off my FFVII game and take it out for a replay. Well, I'd learned with this card that you have to save more than one copy of the same game data cuz it can be gone in an instant. I had only two copies because the card insisted there was no more space even though I can scroll down and see about 10 open. So, I turn on my playstation this afternoon and one of my files is completely gone like it was never there. The other gives me a "file ruined" message. Do not buy this worthless piece of crap. My dad got it for my sister and me because it was cheap and the large amount of space was appealing. That's its only upside.

5-0 out of 5 stars Problems with Loading Blocks.
Ok here's how it works. I had to jack with this thing for a few minutes, but I think I got it figured out.

Put the memory card in one of the slots, then start your ps with the lid open or no cd in. The memory card will cycle through it's spaces. Once this is done a one will appear to the right. Now open the memory card explorer. Once you're in there Press and hold "Start" now press "L1" & "R1" at the same time. You'll see a small "." appear next to the number. Let go of "L1" & "R1". Now press "L1" or "R1" to cycle through the available spaces. Once you're on the space you want press "Start". Now load your game. Each time you shut off the playstation the memory card should start on the space you selected and you won't need to select a different one until the space is full.

FINAL NOTES: make sure if you're using a Game Shart or Code Breaker, that you have enough blocks to store the codes and save your game on the same space.

also when you try to cycle throught he bolcks the first time, the card may start doing a weird blinking and then cycle through all of the blocks slowly. No big deal, let it do it's thing and then follow the steps above once more.

if you need further help email me mlewis@1boredprogrammer.com

2-0 out of 5 stars Yeah... start, L1, and R1 doesn't work.
I assume it's because I use this on a PS2, but I can't scroll pages at all.It hasn't erased any memory so far, but because I can only use the one page it's more like just a Massively Expensive Memory Card.

Does anybody know WHEN you're supposed to press start, L1, and R1?Is it at the loading screen, the browser, when the game's already loaded...?

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY IT!!!
I bought this card and it worked fine for me for a while. I saved alot of games on it. THen one day - PS just wouldn't recognize it! Like I would put the card in - and it would tell me that nothing is there!!!!! I thought may be its just my PS - so I tried my friend's, and when I got PSII - I tried that also. But No it doesn't work.

All of my saves are LOST and a lot of games I have I never finished.

I tried to get support from Interact - but there is none. If your card dies - its your problem, they wont help you. And ... when u r about to complete the game with everything unlocked and the best ending awaiting you - and suddenly you card is unreadable.

It was awsome! I liked the first one so much I bought 3 more. It never screwed up on any of my 40+ games. I plan to buy another one soon!

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS MEMORY CARD KICKS A**
For a while I was looking for a memory card for my Playstation.I decided to order one of the Mega Memory Cards that has over 1,000 blocks of memory. This was a total mistake. After using it for less than half an hour I found out that it was the worst memory card you can buy.It sucked so much that I actually returned it the next day and bought this memory card.I was scared at first that there weren't going to be enough blocks, considering there's only 15.But those memory cards with 15+ are so confusing when you have to switch from page to page in order to save your data. All I am saying is this.Whatever you do, don't you dare buy a memory card for your Playstation that isn't made by Sony.Everyone no name memory card I have tried is full of glitches and are annoying when you have to follow certain steps when saving data. This memory card is the best I have seen.I actually have two of them right now, one for my sports games and one for my action and shooting games. This is the perfect memory card for anybody. There are plenty of blocks, no glitches, and user friendly.Your search ends here with your purchase of this product by SONY.Over all this memory card kicks A**!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars the best for ps2 and ps1
well this is definitely the card to buy if you are an avid gamer.it may not have a whole lot of space but it is the best one to get.DO NOT GET THE 2X ONES OR ANYTHING ELSE NOT MADE BY SONY.i had lots o problems trying to get one of those to work on my ps2 and it corrupted and wouldn't save anymore.so buy this one, it is definitly the one to buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best memory card
This is the best memory card to buy, it may cost a little more than the rest but its worth the money. DO NOT buy other memory cards from other companies i had that experience after a while the just stop working or become corrupted especially those 2x-72x pages ones. These ones may have a small capasity but the work perfectly.Plus its a great colour

4-0 out of 5 stars great but not enough
I great memory card and still the most reliable, but if you are an RPG fanlike myself or own a lot of games you will need several as it has asomewhat limited capacity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I could not go with out it!
I am the proud new owner of a psone and without the memory card i would be very annoied. I have the game Frogger 2 and without it you always start at the begining. So if you have a playstation buy this memory card!

5-0 out of 5 stars taken for granted
Playstation was the first system to come out with a way of storing multiple games' memory on one piece of technology. I personally own one and will most likely half to get another one because i am getting too many games for the 14 blocks of memory it will hold. I can speak for me and most likely for alot of people when i say that i take for granted how good the memory card is and how it truly will save you when you finally get past that "impossible" level.

5-0 out of 5 stars better than the rest
the other memory cards are made from a different brand so there is a risk of lost files. not this. it's made by playstation itself so there is no risk of lost files. i have one myself and i say why buy one that is notmade from playstation? ... Read more
