It's a good controller
First off, I'm not sure where all these complaints about this product's durability comes from. My Mad Catz controller has lasted me six months, longer than one of the original XBox controllers.

The button setup is slightly different, but in my opinion, easier to get used to.

Don't waste your money.
I purchased two of these controllers to have handy for friends to use when four of us where present and playing Halo and other multi-player games.I personally am very happy with the two Microsoft controllers I initially bought when the system launched, but figured I could save a few bucks by buying the Mad Catz ones since they would only be used by guests.Well I figured wrong.Both Mad Catz controllers' triggers broke after very little use.The springs that provide the tension in the triggers became dislodged.The triggers began to stick or would not depress all the way.While playing Halo your gun would continually fire on its own, and in Nascar heat, you could not get over 50 mph because you could not depress the trigger all the way.I ended up throwing the controllers away and buying two additional Microsoft Controllers, an S and an Original design and have been happy ever since.I would advise spending the extra cash and getting a genuine Microsoft controller.The mad Catz are cheaply made.They don't last long, and have a horrible feel in your hand.

Good comfort - poor quality
I have small hands and since I needed a 2nd ctrlr anyways, I figured I'd get something other than the formidable looking stock ctrlr as a second when I bought my xbox less than two weeks ago. I saw the Mad Catz so figured ...cool. Rubber grips and layout of pad is great. I prefer it's "feel" to the stock controller. BUT, and it's a big BUT, reliability is very poor. This one is going back. analog buttons have gotten very sloppy with only moderate to minimal play time (approx 10 hours) and vibration feedback has almost COMPLETELY gone after initially being stronger than the stock MS controller. Now the MS pad is much stronger in feedback and has had only slightly less use. MS controller by the way turned out to be perfectly fine feeling for my hands. Will be returning this one and just get another stock unit. FORGET about this one if you care about reliability.

Avoid this product.

Close to perfect
In my experience with this controller, I had no problems with it. Although it's made for people with smaller hands, I have large hands and had to make a few small adjustments to my playing to get used to the closer buttons etc.

It was a tough controller too. I dropped it in a rush and it hit the edge of the table hard. It still kept working fine. You might as well call it TIMEX. Later I got frustrated from Virtual Fighter 4 and chucked the controller at the wall. (I know it's stupid) but it still ran great.

I had to drop it one star only because I can relate to some people not liking the close buttons. Although I had little difficulty, some games are harder to play with the buttons so close. My reccomendation is, pick up 3 completely different controllers so you can switch whenever you play a new game.

This controller was good but you should buy the normal one by microsoft because the right stick is way to far to the left(see picture)

Buttons in the Wrong Spots
I would like to say this controller is not good for some games like Halo, but the biggest thing I don't like about this controller is that + buttons are in different spots than all the other controllers.This can be extremely annoying if u are used to the xbox controllers.

P.O.C.!
This controller is a piece of ....It breaks right away, the buttons aren't very responsive and confortable and the whole thing is messy looking.Interact really ... this one up... just like all the other 3rd party companies do.Go buy a regular controller or the S-controller, it may cost more but it lasts alot longer.

Horrible Controller! Avoid at All Costs!
Regardless of this controller's layout or functionality, they are completely unreliable and break very easily.I bought three of them when I got my xbox because they were sold out of the ms controlers, but within one month, with very kind treatment and care, two of the three controlers had developed major flaws.On one of them, the right thumbstick broke, now it just kind of rattles around in its socket.THe other one constantly makes the xbox give me the "controler has been disconected" screen even though it was obviously still plugged in.All I have to do is hit start to make the screen go away, but it is very annoying and happens very often.So basically even if you really like the design of this controler, take my advice because it's much better to pay a little more to get a controler that actually works.

Okay, I don't know who is writing the reviews the good reviews on this controller, but whatever they are on, I want some.I have never used a controller before that was this unresponsive or big.I have had multiplayer sessions of Halo, and all the guys agree that you have to really work the buttons and analog sticks to get the controller to respond. This is not a good thing in a fast paced game.It is way too unresponsive, and the size is a tad bigger than the standard xbox controller, which for someone with small hands, is not a good thing.I do
not recommend you wasting your money on a controller that should've been designed better.

Just buy a offical Microsoft Controller-S
I dont own this stupid third party controller, but why would I need to? Third party controllers never hold up well and they are never near the quality of the first party controllers. It doesent even seem shaped as good as the offical Microsoft controller-s, and it may have that nasty feel that some third party controllers have. Want to know why this is cheap? Its because its probably horrible. Every one I know who had to deal with a third party controller never liked it. So just dont buy it!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH
These controllers I found were cheap. I thought it would be a perfect deal, but then I found myself [mad] when it fell of the bed, and the spring for the L trigger broke. So then I bought a new one. AND THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED!!!!!!! Right now I'm searching for a good controller. If it's cheaper it does not matter because all that means is that you'll end up paying for another one when it keeps on breaking. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!!!! DONT LET IT RUIN YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE

The Worst Controller Ever!

This controller is awfull.Sometimes it doesn't even work or you automaticly move in one direction.It is impossible to shoot a weapon in halo because it is so sesitive and you always zoom in and zoom out.When ever I have to use that controller I just rush and try to mela because you have a better chance of killing them that way than actually shooting them.If you are going to get a knock off controller get the mad catz one because that one atleast works all the time even though it is kind of tough to shoot with.All I know is don't buy this contoller...

Buy it if you want to win
The first thing i noticed about the pad is that it is a little bit smaller than the microsoft pad.This is a little bit weird since i was used to the microsoft one, but i am used to it now.The second thing i noticed was the buttons.They are slightly larger than micrsoft's, but here is the bad part.The buttons must be pushed very firmly to work.This may be alright on some games, but on others it simply will not suffice.In Madden 2002, what type of pass you throw depends on how hard you press the button.Achieving anything but a bullet pass was impossible for me.Also, on games like Halo where you have to be quick with the buttons, i repeatedly found myself dead because i could not fire quick enough.However, the controller isnt completely bad.I have found that if i give the controller to my friends when we play head-to-head, i nearly always win.Since they dont get to use the real x-box controller, they never know the difference. ... Two major problems
When I first bought this controller I loved it. So I went out and bought four of them. Now every one of them is broke
the R trigger on each controller is pressed in and will not pop
back out. I have never seen the likes of this. I still have my 3do and sega genesis controllers which work fine.

Another issue is there seems to be a conflict with this controller and EA's games, especially there sports titles.
Sometimes I have to unplug the controller then plug it back in.
Or I will get a disc is dirty, unable to read error.

When I bought these controllers they were the only option to
Microsoft's big black hunk of junk. No with the new s controller
and all the other options out there, stay clear of these controllers.

Response? Weak... Working capabilities? Limited...
I first bought this controller when I was drawn to its small and easy size. When I started using it, there were times where I was very close to taking it out and throwing it. When I play "Halo", many times it will not recognize the controller. During gameplay in "NBA Streets Vol. 2" it will randomly act as if I hit the start button. This happens when it isn't reading port 1 so its frustrating. Buyers beware...

Good alternative
I bought these controllers for many reasons:
They were 20% less than the standard MS controllers.
Their buttons are spaced further apart than the MS controllers and I made fewer mistakes that way.I also like the various controller colors which make sense during LAN parties.The rubber grips are nice.The overall size is just right: not too big, not too small.

I have no experience with pressure sensitive buttons as described in other reviews.

don't waste your time
Bought this item and had to return it right out of the box (4) times before i got one that fuctioned correctly, really! The cord twists and kinks easy. The right triger button broke after 6 months, so i am now done w/madcatz.

not worthy
I thought i made a good decision when i bought this product, but boy was i wrong. after 2 months of use it finally gave up on me--this bites!and that so called lifetime warranty is non-existent.Goodluck!

Mad Catz does it gain
I am really impressed with this product, even though it is only a few bucks cheaper than the microsoft x-box controller it really felt comfortable in my hands. I spend a lot of time playing halo and oddworld and with this controller my hands don't get tired as quickly as they did when I used the microsoft controller. The buttons seem like they are easier to reach with my thumb on this controller and that can make a big difference at times. I also am not worried about if this product will last a long time or not because I have purchased many other items from this company in the past and never had a single problem with them.

Mad Catz Control Pad Pro
I have tried a couple of controllers and the Mad Catz Control Pad Pro seems to be the best out of the bunch. If you like the Standard Xbox controller than you'll most likely like this one. This controller is much lighter and smaller than the standard Xbox controller which makes it more comfortable and easier to hold. It feels solid as well like the Standard controller. The buttons seem to be more well placed and spaced. The thumbsticks are on par with the standard conroller and have the perfect travel and resistence. The D-Pad is much better due to the "Cross" design rather than using a circular pad. I found myself drifting off to the left ALOT with the Standard controller while using the D-Pad while trying to walk a straight line or narrow ledge. The triggers have the right amount of resistence but i would have liked to have a little more travel, it just seems to short of a pull. If your looking for another controller to replace the standard one than this is it. If you do not like this controller then i would recommend keeping the standard one. The other controllers may be a little cheaper, but they do not compare to this one in at all.

This controller is all looks, no function!
Yes, this controller looks very nice. The rubber pads are great, and it is a bit smaller. However, the response on it is horrible.

First off, I like the Microsoft controllers. I have small hands and people complain about the size of the controller, but after a little bit of playing, it really does feel natural in your hands. ALL the buttons are pressure sensitive; this is not the case with the MadCatz controllers.

The buttons on the Madcatz controllers are NOT pressure sensitive. I have confirmed this by going into the Sparring Mode of DOA3 and running through the moves tutorial. When using this controller, the moves are different. You now have to use the direction pad in combination with different button presses to execute moves.

For example, a certain move that requires just a HARD button press with the Microsoft controller now requires you to hit Down on the direction pad along with the button press to pull off the same move with the MadCatz controller. Add to that the fact that you have to really push down on the MadCatz buttons to get any response out of it really makes the MadCatz an inferior, frustrating, and after long periods of play, a painful controller to use.

Do yourself a favor, just stick with the Microsoft controllers for now and avoid this one. ... Read more
