This fully open 3-D airplane racing adventure drops you into the cockpits of cartoony planes where you play as their cartoony pilots. There have been other cartoonish games before, but Freaky Flyers is the first to try replicating a cartoon universe so completely from the inside out, starting with the very physics. You will explore open and interactive 3-D world environments like the lush and tropical Danger Island, the wild west of Coyote Canyon, and chaotic, exotic Arabia. A branching adventure takes the player through each character's storyline. The 13 engaging characters include Johnny Turbine (a mixed-up, wannabe movie superstar), Cactus Rose (a two-gun-slinging bandita), and Island Jack (the laid-back native and ambassador of mellow). Skill-oriented stunt flying provides the thrill of doing dangerous aerial stunts, racing modes offer easy-to-learn, hard-to-master aerial excitement, and dogfighting lets you battle other pilots for air supremacy. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Freaky Flyers???
The game is mediocre IF you TURN DOWN the VOLUME. The music haunts you and taunts you and will be stuck in your head all day. Don't forget to drop your pacifier because your in the navy now. Oh great now that song is in my head again. Saftey Procedure in case you come in contact with Freaky Flyers with the volume up: Remain Calm. Plug your Ears. Finally scream really loud and run. Just don't waste the money. Go buy a diffrent game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, an improvement on Mario Kart!
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed something half as much as Mario Kart -- it set up the non-serious racing genre and Crash and similar, while fun, have been nothing but also-rans. But Freaky Flyers came along and introduced a number of things just right! The aerial controls are every bit as nice as the brief air portionso f Diddy Kong racing, the environments are varied and amazingly detailed (you'll LOVE the fort!!!), the characters and movie clips are FUNNY, and the competition is MORE intense than Mario Kart (for once! thank you!). The races feel close, and if your heart isn't pounding by the end of the race, you're doing something wrong. I've been playing this non-stop for a few days now, and I LOVE IT!!! :D

5-0 out of 5 stars Freaky Flyers: Thumbs Up
If you like cartoons and racing, Freaky Flyers is a winner. The cart game offers cool open environments and a fun cast of characters, from the bumbling, movie-star wannabe Johnny Turbine to the split personality Myrna Bookbottom, who turns into hellraiser Margaret Basher when she gets angry. I particularly like Tracy Torpedoes, a German experiment gone either terribly wrong -- or depending on your taste -- amazingly right.

As much as the characters are neat, the real meat of this game is the racing, which is flat out challenging. The goal of Freaky Flyers is simple: Win the race. The game kicked my butt more than once as I worked to figure out the best way to avoid running into trees or pasting myself into canyon walls. There are plenty of powerups and surprises throughout that make getting into the front of the flying pack easier, once you know where they are and how to use them. Some powerups can be won by flying through them, others require very controlled target shooting.

The first level, Bigfoot Mountain, pits flyers against a gnarly twisting canyon bristling with pine trees, villages, dams, waterfalls and tunnels. The program won't let you fly over obstacles, so it takes some real skill in tight corners. The graphics are solid here, as long as you don't get too far off the main course, where things get a little sketchy. I tried flying close to several bigfoot creatures and they weren't quite prepared for me. They kept jumping up and down in an odd, rigid way. Meanwhile, I was running 9th in the race and losing bigtime. At the end of the game, the announcer told me in a kindly but firm tone to put down my controller and “step away from the screen.

Luckily, I didn't take his advice. Level 2 took me to Coyote Canyon, another curvy raceway where the speed picks up in a big way. Powerups ripped by and I found myself under attack from other flyers more often. Every plane has unlimited gatling guns, so squeezing off shots isn't associated with the usual problem of where to find more ammo. Some powerups give you rockets, which let you turn the competition into a satisfying flaming gumbo.

Level three, Bandito Attack, changes the scene completely. Here you have to protect a fort against heavily armed dudes in sombreros. If you spend too much time picking them off on the ground, their bases in the hills will shell your fort into smoking ruins. If you spend to much time attacking their bases, the pesky sombreros on the ground will... turn your fort into smoking ruins. This wasn't easy. The game doesn't give you any powerups at this level and you're almost totally on your own.

The fourth level, Thugsville Chicago, gets more complex and brings in sub characters while notching up the race speed even more. The urban landscape provides tricky canyons of apartment buildings with clothes lines, burning homes (which you have to put out) and more stationary attackers.Onesubgoal is to get the police chief back to headquarters. Luckily, powerups areeverywhere and smart flying rather than shooting seems to be the best strategy.

Level five takes you to an Arab scene that is mostly underground and not easy. I don't know how many more levels there are, since I'll admit I'm kinda stuck at level five for the moment. That's a good sign that the designers didn't build this game to be a throw away. It may look wacky, but the software is every bit as powerful as more traditional guns N violence or sports games.

The contoller is very responsive in Freaky Flyers. I spent a good deal of time learning to limit my stick movements or I'd go screaming off the race course and get hung up in a mountain pass. The music is good, if a bit repetitive, and there are movies locked among the levels that give you more information about the stories of each character.

Each game takes about 5 minutes to play, and if you win, they can be shorter.

Sound was a bit repetitive and I found myself turning down the volume.

All in all, Freaky Flyers is fun and challenging. You won't be sorry you bought or rented it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great environments, great graphics
I really enjoyed this game - more than I thought I would.I was a fan of kart racing games in the past and was looking for a 2003 version with all the bells and whistles. This game has been fun from the start and has kept entertaining for about 14 hours so far.It has wonderful graphics, large boards to explore and race through, cool characters, multiple airplanes to race with and good sound effects.

I have a couple of nephews that have really enjoyed the game a lot too.IT'S A SAFE GAME FOR KIDS, but has some good tongue-in-cheek humor for everyone old enought to get the jokes. There aren't too many games out there that can entertain across the age groups like this one.Bravo!

1-0 out of 5 stars This game needs to stay "Hidden!"
This is the first time that I have ever reviewed a video game online, yet I felt it reasonable that I do so since it only took me four hours to beat this game.I must say, for renting this game for $3.00 you somewhat get your money's worth because you can see the ending before you have to return it, but I honestly feel horrible for anyone that purchases it.To be frank, there is no need to even have a memory card for this game.Everytime you die, you can just continue and beat the game within the time that I had just mentioned. So, in essence, the time built around this game is very short.

The same can be said for the development of it.For a Playstation 2 game, the graphics were horrible. They were sloppy and choppy all at the same time.I had trouble shooting, distinguishing who was the bad guy, and overall why I was spending four hours of my life on this game. The camera movement throughout the game will definitely have you cursing like a sailor within the first hour, but as just as you get used to it, the game is over.

The story is poor/pathetic without really any emotion behind it.Nearly Playstation 2's entire catalog is better than this game and I do not suggest it to anyone.

Grade: * out of *****

4-0 out of 5 stars Horrible game
Boring and stupid are two words that come to mind.Don't bother.Zero redemming value to this game.

1-0 out of 5 stars One of the worst games ever...
Wow. I didnt think a game could be so bad. Its not even worth a [money] rental fee at [local store].
These...are the many CONS
If you play 2 or three nights, an hour or so each time, badda-bing, badda-boom, and you're done with it.
You die all the time. You just always die, die, die, and then you always restart, restart, restart.
The camera angles SUCK!! I floats around you, and it goes left, right, backwards, forwards, diagonally, above, below...it is the most irritating thing!!
The levels are stupid, and have nothing to them. One minute youre walking around and you press a button, and then you walk through a door and you're done.
The graphics...better than some games but nothing to celebrate over.
Once you've finally beaten the game (over the course of those grueling TWO HOURS!!) it feels like you've accomplished nothing.
So, DONT BUY, DONT BUY, DONT BUY!!!!! (Or even rent!! Its that bad!!)

1-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed
This is a run around and beat up the bad buys with punching and kicking combo's. The game tosses in the ability to use different type of fire arms, and instead of just trying to beat up all the bad guys to complete the level you must follow some objectives (ex: defuse all the bombs in XX amount of time) to make it through each level. I'm usually a BIG fan of these types of games, ever since I started playing Final Fight at the old arcade I've been hooked. I usually try to find and play all the other "beat'em up" style games out there.
Starting with the first problem I noticed with this game is the very annoying floating camera that follows you around. It constantly gives you strange angles to play in and when in 2 player mode the camera angles situation is much worse. There is a button to reset the camera behind the back of your character but I want to beat up guys, not constantly try to find a good camera angle!
The lack of type of attacks is another let down. Maybe I just didn't discover all of the moves, but you basically can do a punching combo, a kicking combo, and a punch then end with a kick combo (not even a jumping attack added, what game character can survive without one of those??...*humour*). Like alot of other beat'em up games you can grapple your enemy, but you're just limited to punching them or throwing them when you grab a hold of the bad guys. You cannot combine the different moves to have a more creative combo. It's just too simple for me to keep interest in it.
Last thing I didn't like about the game is your constantly getting knocked down. The bad guys are pretty ruthless and are always taking aim with their guns, and doing single hit knock downs. You'll find yourself constantly flying to the ground.

There's alot of higher quality games to spend your time with out there. Pass this one up.

1-0 out of 5 stars Invade THIS!!!
The only thing games like Hidden Invasion are good for is an excuse to write bad reviews.
After playing Eidos/Core's Fighting Force for the PlayStation One, I didn't think 3D Final Fight rip-offs could get any worse. Then I played Hidden Invasion, which sinks so much lower: the camera is so fussy it's difficult to tell whether the REAL game here is really finding and defusing bombs or just trying to maintain your vision. If I remember well, the controls aren't that responsive either. The graphics are okay, but nothing spectacular.
If you still have to play this game just to know how bad it really is, con a friend/enemy into renting it, play it once, then never play it again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn close to perfect
I just picked this up and I must say I am impressed.I truly love pinball not just as entertainment but as (depending on the machine) works of art, ie. backglass artists, table designers, and programmers have really created some masterpieces over the years - and this game really does them justice. The graphics are 1st rate, and the tables are recreated perfectly. The sound is truly amazing, and the game has exact recreations of each machine's electronics and table sounds. The arcade sound background effect is interesting, but I agree with another reviewer that it might be nice to toggle that down. The only other issue that I can possibly think of is that the gameplay relies on the gamer to choose one of six different camera angles, now some tables are more difficult than others - and this requires different camera angles, but you can only toggle through them in one direction which makes it a little difficult if you need to change angles in mid-gameplay.This is minor in the bigger picture of the game as a whole though. If I could suggest any upgrades on future volumes, I would only suggest that the designers include more attention to the backglasses - as these are a kind of overlooked in this volume, and you really can't get a close up look at them.If it were even possible to show each backglass as they appear when lit with their backlights and dot-matrix displays, that would truly blow me away. But I digress, allow me to simply say that this is a must have for a pinball fan (especially for the low price) and I really look forward to and hope the designers consider making expanded volumes that include more machines.I'd be first in line to pick it up.

2-0 out of 5 stars Just Not Good Enough
I'm not a pinball expert or anything but I always enjoyed video game pinball ( not the simulations of real machines ) and I thought I should give this a try anyway despite the fact that this is, afterall, a sim.I was wrong.Only two of the tables are any fun ( Black Hole and Tee'd Off ) and I just don't care about the history of the machines in general or Gottlieb in particular. Some may argue the older tables ( 50's, 60's ) require more skill and finesse, but I just found them to be dull and somewhat tacky. And only two worthwhile tables for $20 just doesn't cut it.I recommend these instead: Extreme Pinball for The Playstation, Pure Pinball for the X-Box, The Pinball of the Dead for the GBA ( macabre and creative! ), and even Dragon's Revenge for the old Sega Genesis.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Good Enough
I wanted to like it so much more because graphics look fantastic, and it looks like the awesome pinball machines that I grew up with. And secondly there hasn't been a good true collection of the pinball experience.

But the ball is alittle toooooo slow moving! I don't recall the real pinball machines have turtle moving balls. I was actually yawning and waiting for each ball to come about.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Pinball collection!
This game simulates pinball machines from 50s to 90s. At first I was suspicous about this game because it featured really old tables like 1950-1970s. My idea of a pinball machine are those over the top ones made by Midway during the 90s. Many evolved into more of a spectacle machine while losing 'gameplay'. This is pretty much the only pinball game for ps2. I really like the fact that these machines really exist.

This game blew me away. Right when I saw Genie, Black Hole, Victory, and Tee'd off.... I was like I played and watched people play this before! Brought back memories that otherwise would be forgotten forever.

The graphic and sound for this game is excellent. You will feel like you own the machines. There is voice tutorial and history info for all the tables. The camera angles are excellent. The ball physics very real. The menu screen is nice, all the pinball machines are placed in an old-fashioned arcade and you select them. There is simulated 'background arcade noise' during gameplay, it can't be toggled but its cool. The glass 'shines' effect during gameplay makes the tables look even more real. The gameplay design is SUPERB! Gottlieb knows how to design and make pinball games! Here are the machines:(Name, year, comment, rating.)

Ace high 1957 - a simple but well designed pinball game. Decent.
Central Park 1966 - another simple but well designed pinball game. Good.
Big Shot 1974 - excellent game, beatifully blends pool and pinball together. Great.
Genie 1979 - very popular back then, one of the best single plane pinball machine ever. Great.
Black Hole 1981 - The first pinball game to feature a 'underground' table, or a mini-table built within a pinball table. Great. Pinball machine designs during this time is evolving big time as seen in this table.
Victory 1987 - Very popular back then. Excellent gameplay and ramp design which allows 'double' ramping/looping. Here we see how pinball machines are evolving into little amusement parks. Great.
Tee'd Off 1993 - blends golf and pinball together beautifully. A classic 'basic' over the top pinball machine. Great.

There is a unlockable table called Play-Boy but I haven't unlock it yet. Another unlockable is Xolten the fortune teller machine.

Overall this game is a must buy for all pinball fans!

4-0 out of 5 stars The best pinball sim yet
When I first purchased this game, I wasn't sure what to expect given how poorly older videogames have been emulated in compilations recently released and how unrealistic most pinball sims released for the PSone were, but I was pleasantly surprised by this diamond in the rough.

Having played all but 2 of these pinball games on real machines and having owned one of them in the past, I can tell you from experience that the ball physics are more accurate than any pinball sim that's come through before. Each game has its own unique challenges from the randomness of early games like Aces High to the finesse games like Genie and Black Hole.

The start up menu is very well designed, there is extensive information about each machine, and the extras like the love meter, slide show and fortune teller are nice bonuses. The machines are very easy to navigate through and the designers did an excellent job in selecting pinballs that helped define Gottlieb over a 40+ year span.

My only gripe about this game and the only reason I didn't give pinball hall of fame a 5 out of 5 is that there is an annoying glitch on tournament mode where if you beat the high score, you have to enter your initials for each individual point you have beaten the high score by which can be very cumbersome when you score 403 points and the high score is only 138.Otherwise, I would consider this one a must have for anyone into pinball. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars might be good for liltlle kids 6-12
yeah i know it hasnt coem out yet but come on a nickeloden game!!
just think of how dumb it would be, what could they possibly have in there that would be entertaining coldnt be a shooter cause its for kids, not an rpg cause everyone knows that spongbob or something wouldnt be able to have different skills and lvl up and stuff. now this would be ok if it was a mk type fighting because it would be fun to kick the crud out some stupid chars off nickeloden

3-0 out of 5 stars Good as long as you don't expect too much.
Nickelodeon Party Blast is a fun and simple game for younger children. Kids can pick their favorite cartoon characters (including Sponge Bob) to compete in a number of mini-games. The games are rather simple, such as throwing food on each other, squirting players with water, or rafting down a river. As you collect tokens, you unlock different levels and challenges.
Here are some things to keep in mind when buying this game:

1) It will be fun for those between 4-11. Older kids will get bored of the game fast. For the younger kids, there are some aspects of the game they might find difficult. For example, during gameplay your character can get covered with green ooze and slows down. The only way to shake it off is by rapidly moving the character back and forth. The younger kids often struggle getting this movement down.

2) The graphics are primitive by any standard. Do not expect much.

If you buy the game with these things in mind, you should not be disappointed. The game WILL keep the kids entertained. ... Read more
