Amazon.com Review Players are able to customize their high-tech warrior to suit individual play styles: snipers will go with light armor, extra battery pack, and a laser rifle; fans of less-subtle tactics will grab heavy armor, a mortar, plasma gun, and shield pack to create a walking tank. This level of customization adds an unusual amount of depth for a game in the first-person shooter genre, and it's fun to mix up gear choices in order to react to battlefield conditions. And oh, what a beautiful battlefield it is. Players begin the game within their home base, but once free of those crowded halls, a limitless vista greets the eyes. Rolling hills, snow-covered peaks, and eerie moonscapes provide a stunning backdrop to the action as players zoom around with jetpacks. Outposts, towers, and weapon emplacements provide strategic objectives and sniping platforms; hovercraft and personnel carriers allow quick transport and airborne assaults. Blasting your way across the world of Tribes is fun, but it's not the only gameplay option. Less action-oriented gamers can assume the role of Commander and issue orders to teammates. The Commander is especially useful during matches that require intricate teamwork, such as capture the flag, capture and hold, and defend and destroy. --Mike Fehlauer Pros: Reviews (49)

Amazon.com Review Half-Life quietly debuted in late 1998, and the gaming community was forever changed. Instantly soaring to bestseller status, the groundbreaking title eventually earned over 50 Game of the Year awards. The combination of an intriguing, well-paced plot, smooth graphics, cunning enemy AI (artificial intelligence), brilliant level design, and revolutionary in-game scripted events make Half-Life an unforgettable gaming experience. You play as Gordon Freeman, a mild-mannered scientist assigned to handle hazardous materials in the government-funded Black Mesa Research Facility. Something goes wrong--horribly wrong--with one of the more exotic experiments, and Gordon must try to escape. Along the way, he has to try to rescue his fellow scientists, master the use of conventional and not-so-conventional weapons, avoid or kill bizarre alien monstrosities, and learn the true nature of the research at Black Mesa. Team Fortress Classic is a multiplayer-only action game that uses the Half-Life game engine and interface. Ease of use and pulse-pounding game play have made TFC one of the most popular action games on the Net. Finding and connecting to games is a quick and painless process; once connected, any gamer will quickly feel at home. Players choose a character class from such World War II movie favorites as Scout, Pyro, Soldier, Engineer, Medic, Spy, Sniper, or Heavy Weapons Guy. The class determines your health, armor, speed, available weapons, and special ability. Special abilities range from the Medic's ability to heal comrades and poison foes to the Spy's ability to assume the guise of any other class. It's the teamwork that makes TFC so much fun. Each player is a member of a team and must work with the other team members to accomplish the goals, of capturing the flag, base defense, or planning to kill the enemy VIP. An effective team includes a good mix of character classes and a leader of the team's efforts. The person in charge might assign a sniper to cover a large expanse of open ground or tell a team to take out an enemy bunker. The maps included with TFC emphasize team-based play, and the surprisingly productive Half-Life/TFC player community constantly produces new maps and modifications. Opposing Force returns the player to the Black Mesa facility, but tells the tale from the perspective of Col. Adrian Shephard, one of the soldiers sent to clean up the scientists and their reality-altering mess. Just as in Half-Life, things quickly go badly for Colonel Shephard and his men. Ambushed by aliens, scattered and confused, Adrian must fight his way through the ruins of the facility in an attempt to reach a helicopter extraction point. Gameplay is similar to that of Half-Life: Adrian must collect weapons; get over, around, or through collapsed passages; fight aliens; and contend with the mysterious--and murderous--Black Ops agents. All three games in Half-Life: Adrenaline Pack could easily stand alone on their own merits; being able to get them all in one package is a real treat. Half-Life will draw you in, Team Fortress Classic will keep you in multiplayer heaven for months, and Opposing Force will remind you just what makes the Half-Life game world so good. --Mike Fehlauer Reviews (21)
Any way.Half Life has a great story. You are Gordon Freeman, a scientist for the Black Mesa research facility.Then.It all goes wrong.Aliens are everywhere. If thats not enough, there are government grunt troopers coming in also. You think they are here to save you. They are not. Now for Opposing Force. You are the grunt. You have crash landed at the black mesa facility after you chopper was shot down by an unknown .....craft.What the hell is going on?You must find your way past alien life forms so you can get out of this hell hole.At the same time your mission is to find Gordon Freeman. There are so many mods for this game its unbeleivable. This game is a MUST BUY.If you don't own it, well......I dont know what to say.Multiplayer rocks, single player rocks, everything rocks.

Amazon.com Review Strategic unit placement takes priority over the size of an attackingforce. Placing units on elevations improves accuracy; concealing unitsin shadows make them harder to hit; and flanking heavily armored unitsis vital, since armor is usually weaker in the rear than in thefront. Dozens of units are available, including different models of armoredpersonnel carriers, infantry, tanks, artillery, and aircraft. Mostfeature special weapons, such as mortars or grenade launchers, designedto take out specific units or structures. Despite the impressive visualand sound effects, Ground Control's arsenal of units tends toblend together, lacking distinction and personality. This is a minorgripe, though, against a game with such impressive visuals andgameplay. Ground Control's intuitive control system complements its flashy3-D engine. Players can rotate and tilt the camera at any angle, from abird's-eye viewpoint far above the action to a trooper's-eye view inthe middle of a firefight. Important battle commands, such as unitformations and aggression levels, are seamlessly presented onscreen andare easily available for use. Robust multiplayer features enable players to test their tactics overthe Internet or local area network against human opponents. Gamers canparticipate in deathmatch, free-for-all, and team play as well asunique games such as flagzones (gain control of particular territories)and--a first for the strategy genre--"drop-in" games where players canenter and leave active games at any time. Massive Entertainment has created an impressive package. GroundControl's excellent single-player missions, accessible multiplayermodes, and topnotch gameplay make it one of the best strategy games ofthe year. --Doug Radcliffe Pros: Features Reviews (56)

Amazon.com Review SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle boasts gorgeous 3-D graphics (a 3-D accelerator card is supported but not required), with lifelike characters and amazingly detailed real-world locations, such as the Los Angeles Convention Center and the LAX airport control tower. Players assume command of a five-man L.A.P.D. SWAT team across 16 diverse missions. As Element Leader, you control nearly all aspects of the mission, which can include rescuing hostages to ambushing criminal suspects. Most mission decisions rely on split-second thinking. Should you order the suspect to drop his weapon or are you in imminent danger from the other suspect hiding in the room? SWAT 3's high-pressure environment creates an engaging and satisfying experience. If you're looking for the chance to control an elite police force (thankfully, the computer-controlled artificial intelligence of both team members and suspects is topnotch), check out Sierra Studios' SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle. --Doug Radcliffe Reviews (40)
Basically, you are a S.W.A.T. team leader, and your objectives The most enjoyable part of SWAT3,is the ability to tell you 5-manteam what to do,like "cover you","pick locks","clear bang and search" etc... The ability to play over LAN in a real-person team effort, with AI team players,to solve mission is a big bonus.

Amazon.com Product Description In Half-Life, you play as Gordon Freeman, a research associate at the Black Mesa Federal Research Facility. An experiment blows up in your face, and suddenly aliens and a military death squad surround you. Half-Life: Opposing Force takes place during the events of Half-Life, but casts you as a lieutenant of one of the commando squads sent to kill Freeman. Half-Life: Blue Shift also takes place during the same time as Opposing Force and Half-Life, but this time you play through the Black Mesa disaster as a lowly security guard. Team Fortress Classic is an online action game featuring a wide array of WWII-themed character classes for a team warfare bonanza. Counter-Strike brings the action of Team Fortress Classic into the modern age: it's an online war of terrorists versus counterterrorists in modern team-based combat. All five award-winning programs are included in this one box. Reviews (65)
The original Platinum Collections contain: The new version contains an expansion to the original called Blue Shift. In this expansion you play as a security guard in the Black Mesa compound (the same area as the original). It is just as fun as the original, but shorter. You can usually find the newer pack (it is grey, not platinum or silver, and says 5 games in one on the front) at any large chain retail stores such as Target, Wal-Mart,or K-Mart. Hope this review can be of some help.
Alright, here's what you need to do. Look up "Half-Life: Platinum Collection" and put it in your shopping basket. Check out. Here's what you get. Half-Life: The original and although somewhat dated graphically, it is still a cracking good FPS. The game is just fun to play from soup to nuts and loaded with atmosphere. The levels are more innovative than anything before or since. Half-Life: Opposing Force This game got a 93% courtesy of PC Gamer and that is absolutely remarkable considering this is basically just a Half-Life mod, although a bloody creative one! You'll love the boot-camp sequence and hey, R. Lee Ermey is in it! What more do you need? And you also get... Counter-Strike: Still the most popular online FPS. and... Team Fortress: Classic WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED? Dude, buy the package.
Sierra has an newer version of the Platinum Edition but it is not reflected here on Amazon.com It includes Half-Life, Team Fortress Classic, Opposing Force, Counter-Strike and Blue Shift. It is somewhat similar to the Generations Edition. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review What makes Opposing Force shine is the way it expands on the story of Half-Life. Colonel Shephard passes though areas that players of Half-Life are sure to recognize, and he occasionally runs into characters from the original game, including the infuriating Man in Suit. Opposing Force also introduces several new weapons, such as a sniper rifle (with scope), heavy machine gun, and a .357 Magnum with a laser sight. There's even a "weapon" that is actually a common alien creature from the first game; its unique features allow it to be used as a kind of grappling hook. Several new aliens make an appearance as well, almost all of them deadly. They exhibit the same sophisticated AI (artificial intelligence) as the monsters in Half-Life, relentlessly and intelligently attacking Adrian as he makes his way through the game's impressive levels. Fortunately, Colonel Shephard's rank allows him to take command of any soldiers he encounters. Riflemen and machine gunners can be ordered to follow Adrian and provide covering fire, or assigned to guard a door or room. Engineers can cut through locked or blocked doorways, while Medics can heal the injured. Unlike Half-Life's solitary "me against the world" game play, the addition of competent friendly forces provides a feeling of camaraderie: there's nothing like leading a squad of loyal Marines against an alien horde. --Mike Fehlauer Reviews (69)

Naturally, when I got my hands on the full game I was hopelessly spellbound. My wife might say "hexed"!Be warned:if you do buy this game, be aware you will be investing not only hard-earned cash (though not much--the price is a steal), but huge pockets of your time. This is not only because LOM is great fun, but because it's exceptionally difficult as well.Beating this game is not easy.Be prepared to take your lumps and go through a lot of frustration (albeit fun frustration!) before you finally win the day. The game itself is strategy-based, and runs on turns during which each of the eight paths--called "faiths"--that populate the world of Urak make their moves.Though the turn system is convenient and offers your character many choices of action, each turn does take a while.Healing and resource accumulation are based on the passage of time, so after a tough battle you will have to sit passively through a few turns to recuperate. Moreover, the map of Urak over which your character moves is pretty big, and it can take several turns just to get from A to B, during which time you may be attacked by wandering monsters or see one of your fortresses sacked by raiding parties. To put it mildy, LOM is not for the impatient! LOM follows a straightforward fantasy formula:the world of Urak is being overrun by the armies of Death itself, led by Balkoth the Destroyer, a diabolical necromancer who commands huge armies both living and dead and a powerful arsenal of black magic. You the player must choose a champion from one of eight different faiths (Order, Water, Air, Chaos, Fire, Earth, Life, or for those who have beaten the game at some point possibly even Death)and take on Balkoth and his seemingly limitless hordes on as either a Warrior, Mage, or Thief.(I personally usually choose to be a Warrior of Order, since that allows me to fulfill a lifelong dream of being a Paladin or Knight.) Each class of character is different from faith to faith, so the possible characterizations are many and varied.Whichever type of hero you choose, your character starts out weak and unknown and must slowly, painstakingly build himself up in terms of experience, magic, artifacts, fame, money, and military might. This means liberating besieged dungeons and forts and defeating enemy troops or marauding monsters, or bartering with friendly neighbors (of which there aren't many).Battle resolution is fun and plays in real time so there's a lot of variety.Battles do feature a "pause" option if you want to reconsider things and there's also an "autocalculate" button if you want the computer to determine the battle's outcome for you, though it seems the computer often underestimates the player's strength. If things go badly, the "restart" option lets you give it another go, and you may want to save your game often. If--and I do mean if--you meet and defeat Balkoth head-to-head, you win! Lords of Magic probably isn't for everyone. The slow pace will aggravate those more inclined towards fast arcade-style games, and the fact that you may have to play for several days on end is an understandable turn-off for others. Moreover, the game can get repetitious at times, as you're likely to have to conquer and reconquer the same territory several times and spend an awful lot of game time simply convalescing. And then there's the simple fact that LOM is a very difficult game.Merely staying alive can be a problem, especially if you're ambitious, and actually killing Balkoth may seem like an impossible dream after you've just given your 53rd character the last rites. But you can win, if you've got the time, patience, and energy it takes. If you do, then I heartily recommend Lords of Magic to you. When you finally finally kill the Arch-Demon of Death, it will all be worth it!

As a Titanic buff I can tell you that the detail- down to the tiles on the floor and china- are accurate. The game has many twists and turns and you have many different options, which makes the playing never get old or boring. The best advice I could give you is to save before any kind of meeting with Vlad and/or Zeitel. PLEASE, JUST DO IT!!! Believe me.I learned the hard way.
Cyberflix has outdone themselves. Titanic is a masterpiece. I am a Titanic buff and eveny I found it to be a marvel. Titanic has rerisen. The wonderful graphics almost deserve to be on Playstation2. The charcters I found to be really realistic. Like in other adventure games like Oregon Trail 2 they just move their mouthes. But every thing else is still. In Titanic, everything moves. When they move their hand the clothing has ripples and their skin moves just like a human. You also get to say what you want not just what the computer player has to say. BUY THIS! The only error I had was it froze and I couldn't find a patch for it that worked. That is the only reason for it to have 4 stars. Rating Titanic: Adventure Out of Time Graphics 10/10 *REALISTIC ENVIORMENT IS HOW REALISTIC THE ENVIORMENT AROUND YOU IS. EXAMPLE: The door frames or details on the lifts etc. ~ERRORS & OTHER PROBLEMS ARE BASED ON HOW MANY ERRORS I OCCURRED. EXAMPLE: Freezing during gameplay. This is a great annoyence when playing an adventure game. This counts as a lot of points!!!
PS: You may find yourself playing this game over and over, just to find different ways to win. This is completely normal

Amazon.com Review You can open Caesar III's City Construction Kit and build a Roman city to your specification, or choose the Career Mode and face challenges assigned to you by Caesar himself. With success comes promotion and wealth, but failure will make you a feature on the lions' lunch menu. Increasing the game's lifespan is a particularly nice touch allowing you to choose either "peaceful" or "dangerous" assignments to match your mood or preferred play style. As you build colonies on the roads that lead to Rome you must encourage immigration and keep citizens happy. More than just bread and circuses, you balance trade, industry, city planning and deity worship, all while keeping in Caesar's good graces and fending off barbarian hordes. A plethora of animated visual cues show your success, as plebians and patricians noisily bustle about in a rich and lively recreation of Roman times. The tutorial levels might be a little simple, but the solid manual and fantastic in-game help should keep aspiring megalomaniacs crying"vene, vidi, vici" for hours on end. --Jack Gardiner Reviews (20)

Don't throw away your money like I did when I bought them separately! This is a terrible deal! This game pack featuring the first two games of the SWAT series is not worth it. Why? Well the original SWAT is a slow-paced game constantly interupted by bad quality videos, and simply not worth your money or time. SWAT 2 is even worse! This is the most mediocre game I've ever seen. How about officers that try to walk thru a wall instead of around it? Terrorist and hostages that run to the edge of the screen and dissapear no matter how many SWAT officers you have surrounding them? There are too many hot keys that you have to memorize in order to supposedly play easier and better, but they don't do the job and is hard to remember them. Beware! these are just a few of the many problems you will face when you try to play this game. Save those bucks, because this a terrorist threat...to your money. I cant believe Sierra had the courage of assembling this pack without including SWAT 3. SWAT 3 is where the real SWAT series begin and the only of the 3 you should buy.

If you answered YES to the above questions, then there's absolutely NO reason not to buy this game. Also, FYI, some cool stuff about it is: Can turn blood on or off, it matters where you shoot someone/something (unlike Quake), and it's FUN!What are you waiting for! If nothing else, please, PLEASE download the free demo. It's really worth it, and it's really THAT fun, even now--2 years after it was made! An instant classic no gamer's library (and I'm a mild gamer--maybe 4-5 titles a year) should be without. Very, VERY worth it.
If you want TFC buy the full version. On the plus side though I'm much more inclined to pay the $ for the full version just because this demo is SO cool.
